I've never seen such a polluted place hyped up as a wetland before. This place has no business being called a Wetland or a Ramsar site. Dirty, polluted and choking with water hyacinths and religious debris. The rivulet is venerated as the water body in which Guru Nanak Dev Ji attained enlightenment. But the way it has been allowed to be polluted and ignored by public and government, no one can imagine anyone getting into this water body today, let alone attain any sort of spiritual fulfillment. As for the migratory birds, there were none. This place left me appalled, disillusioned and dismayed at the state of affairs of ecologically and religiously important places in Punjab. Avoid going - there's nothing to see.

Only wetland in Kapurthala, It was created in 1870 by constructing headwork across perennial River also called Kali Bien river. It is a tributary of Beas.. A lake is created behind headwork. There is also ⛵ boating facility. The cost of boating is very low. There is also ticket system for boating. There is a lot of free parking. A number of variety plants . It is situated on Amritsar Road. Always transit facility available .Cannal also dug for irrigation. I enjoyed boating many times. But there is not any Dhaba or restaurant near by so you can have your own Tiffin.

peaceful area, developing now a days but they are charging 30 rupees per person for entry fee. its a worthless. There is nothing to see just good place to time pass. there is v less cleanness. getting 30 rupees without any development is no logic. so going there with family still these days before development is worthless. i recommend to go Gow/cow shalla .its on same road.

Kanjli wetlands in Kapoor thala is a place for a one day outing. They are doing various infrastructure development now.I went in Nov.2022.There were some migratory birds .Boating facilities are there.Peddling boats at a small rate of about 70/ rupee per person. There is a small amusement park for children in the premises. Some rabbits etc are there near park which is refreshing to see .One tiny canteen is there.About three to four hours is needed to have a leisurely coverage of the wetlands.Liked very much.

Kanji Wetland, also known as Kanjli Wetland, is a popular nature reserve located in Kapurthala, Punjab, India. It is a wetland ecosystem that attracts a wide variety of bird species and offers a peaceful and serene environment for visitors to enjoy. The wetland is spread across a vast area and is primarily known for its rich biodiversity. It serves as a significant habitat for migratory birds, especially during the winter season when numerous species from different parts of the world visit the wetland. Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the opportunity to spot and observe these beautiful winged creatures in their natural habitat. The wetland features lush greenery, shallow water bodies, and marshy areas, creating a perfect ecosystem for aquatic plants, animals, and birds. It provides an ideal environment for birds like herons, egrets, ducks, geese, cranes, and many more. The sight of these birds in their vibrant plumage and their graceful movements is truly a treat for bird lovers. Visitors to Kanji Wetland can explore the area through walking trails or by boat rides, allowing them to get closer to the natural surroundings. The wetland offers a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is an excellent place for photography, nature walks, and bird watching, providing ample opportunities to capture breathtaking moments and create lasting memories. The wetland is well-maintained, with proper infrastructure for visitors, including observation decks, seating areas, and informative signage about the flora and fauna. Additionally, there are knowledgeable guides available who can provide insights into the various bird species and the importance of wetland conservation. While the wetland is mainly known for its birdlife, it also supports a diverse range of plant species, insects, and small mammals, contributing to the overall ecological balance of the area. The conservation efforts in preserving the wetland have been commendable, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this precious natural habitat. It's important to note that the best time to visit Kanji Wetland is during the winter months (November to March), when the migratory birds are present in abundance. However, it's advisable to check local bird migration patterns and confirm the ideal visiting time for the best birdwatching experience. Overall, Kanji Wetland in Kapurthala offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, observe magnificent bird species, and appreciate the beauty of a thriving wetland ecosystem.

Good place... There were boards of info about words... But there was no one at the ticket counter so I didn't explore it completely. A man was fishing . I wondered if it was legal or not.
