Had a fantastic time at the National Museum of Pakistan! The antiques displayed there show the history and culture of our country and especially the Indus civilization beautifully. I loved looking at ancient stuff like pottery and tools that people used centuries ago. The part about the Indus Valley Civilization was the best. It showed how smart our ancestors were. The museum also had a part for Pakistani art. There were adorable paintings and sculptures. It was cool to see how art has changed in our country over the time. I also liked that they had information in both English and Urdu. That means everyone can understand. The people working there were nice and answered my questions. This place has a nice parking area for motorcycles and cars. And the best thing is, it's easy to access for everyone, especially ♿ people with different abilities. If you like history, you must visit once. recommend it to everyone, especially our students!

Great place to visit for history lovers. It's completely uncrowded even on weekends, which shows low interest of our nation in history, and hence the state of our nation. Sorry for the rant. It's a good place to visit with family instead of wasting time and money in shopping malls.

I visited the museum in February 2021 with my family. I was very excited to show around my kids (came from London) the historical things of our country. I have to sadly say that the staff from the reception to each department was extremely unprofessional. They had no willingness to assist the visitors in understanding the valuable objects, no welcome greetings or a word of courtesy etc. I believe this might not be in their job description but a smile or welcome greeting wouldn’t cost them anything but would definitely leave a friendly impression forever. Staff should be given basic informative training as per their relevant departments. Staff with proper uniforms and museum lanyards would also add great value to the overall quality of the museum. I couldn’t find any souvenirs shop or booklet stall there. These are sources of revenue and give visitors an opportunity to take some physical memories with them. ( please advise if there is any shop there....) *Harappa* section was closed (read some reviews saying this has been closed for some times). No alternate arrangements were done to display the valuable antiques.

I had an incredible experience at the National Museum of Pakistan in Karachi, one of the country's largest and most comprehensive museums. It offers a vast collection of artifacts, artworks, and historical items, providing a deep insight into Pakistan's rich cultural heritage, including archaeological finds, manuscripts, and coins. The museum beautifully showcases the history, art, and culture of Pakistan, with a particular focus on the Indus Valley Civilization. Exploring ancient artifacts like pottery and tools, I marveled at the intelligence of our ancestors. A dedicated section for Pakistani art displayed charming paintings and sculptures, illustrating the evolution of art in our country over time. The bilingual information (English and Urdu) ensures accessibility for all visitors, and the friendly staff readily answered my questions. The National Museum boasts a convenient parking area for motorcycles and cars, with excellent accessibility for people with different abilities. If you appreciate history, this museum is a must-visit—I highly recommend it, especially to students. Kudos to Pakistan for preserving and presenting its rich cultural heritage!

The National Museum in Karachi is a great place to learn about Pakistan's history and culture. I visited it recently and had a wonderful experience. The museum has a wide range of exhibits that showcase the country's rich heritage. I was amazed by the ancient artifacts, like pottery and tools, that gave me a glimpse into how people lived long ago. The gallery on the Indus Valley Civilization was particularly fascinating, showing how advanced our ancestors were. The museum also has sections dedicated to Pakistani art, with beautiful paintings and sculptures. It was interesting to see how art has evolved over time in our country. One thing I really liked was how the museum had information in both English and Urdu, making it easy for everyone to understand. The staff were friendly and willing to answer questions. The only downside was that some areas felt a bit crowded, but overall, it was a great experience. If you're interested in learning about Pakistan's past and present, the National Museum in Karachi is definitely worth a visit.

Enriched place to explore cultural heritage of pakistan. It contains history of different religions in sub-continent, story of Muhammed bin qasim, mohenjodaro, harapa, makli, ghandhara and galleries to portray culture and ethnicity of all provinces. It has special section for holy quran written in different writing styles, motifs, gold and colors. It has a hall full of how Pakistan came into being with highlights of national heros and leaders. This place is surrounded by big gardens and statues. Be careful about dogs. This place closes by 4pm and ticket cost is pkr 30 per person for locals and cost around pkr 300 for foreginers. People with wheel chairs may face difficulty because did not notice rampage to go upstairs. Highly recommended place to visit for history lovers and students.

The museum has some exquisite artifacts but they are not showcased properly or labeled. Very little information is displayed. The Qur'an manuscript exhibit is the only exception to this rule. It's worth a visit for the artifacts but you need to inform yourself about what you'll see there.

We enjoyed our tour of the National Museum despite its rather tired and dusty presentation. There was a variety of exhibits including a wonderful display of calligraphy in various ancient scrolls and Qurans. This facility is open early so good way to fill in the morning before other businesses open. Easy to access as central.

At our first visit we explore so many things, it was a huge experience we got from there and lots of information about the Mughal Dynasty, Gandhara civilization, culture of all the provinces in Pakistan sum up in one gallery and yes things during or before the partition of Pakistan and yes calligraphy of Quranic Literature. It was a WOW experience for me.

A place with fresh environment, very clean, full of greenery and houses a lot of historical monuments, some originals, some replicas. The place is full of ancient civilizations artifacts, pottery, daily usage tools and religious statues of Buddhism and hinduism, there is a Quran gallery as well where they have old copies of Quran written in different font styles and one of the copy is entirely written with Gold and covered in gold. In some of the galleries there are guides that give information about the things. The ticket is Rs20 for adults. Overall it was awesome I recommend you to go and personally check out the place rather than following someone else's opinion.

The National Museum of Pakistan was established in Frere Hall on 17 April 1950, replacing the defunct Victoria Museum. Frere Hall itself was built in 1865 as a tribute to Sir Bartle Frere, a Commissioner of Sindh during the 19th century. Once the Museum was inaugurated then the Government of Pakistan deemed it wise to constitute an Advisory Council in 1950 with a primary duty to counsel the Museum on the issues of enriching its collection through new acquisitions and purchase of antiquities and works of Arts. The Museum was shifted to the present premises (located in Burns Garden, Dr. Zia-ud-din Ahmed Road) in 1970 The basic objective of establishing the National Museum was to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit the records of the cultural history of Pakistan and to promote a learned insight into the personality of its people. The Museum has a collection of 58,000 old coins (some dating from 74 Al-Hijra), and hundreds of well-preserved sculptures. Some 70,000 publications, books and other reading material of the Archeology and Museums Department were also shifted to the National Museum so that general public could see them. Every year National Museum holds around a dozen exhibitions on National Days and other occasions. For the preservation of the collection, a conservation laboratory is also a part of the museum. There is an auditorium on the museum premises with a 250 seating capacity.

Good effort by the management to preserve history, which is one of the world's best kept secrets. National Museum is a serene place.. Must visit for history and archeology geeks. They have decent amount of ancient artifacts from all over Pakistan, some artifacts from Mehergarh are 6000 years old. Statues from Gandhara civilization are mesmerising and well maintained. Quran and Scripts sections of the museum are the most beautiful ones. They have several beautiful Holy Quran from 11th century AD.. Only downside was the severe suffocation in some galleries, so much that i had to leave one gallery due to heat and suffocation and also the building of museum was not well maintained...Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.. I hope administration will improve these short comings with passage of time.

It was quite underwhelming, the building is a piece of art and there are quite a few important and historical pieces kept there. However, the place was not that well maintained, most of the exhibits are not open for public viewing, there was no guide available and lighting was not favourable for the exhibits. The best kept and maintainer section was of Islamic calligraphy.

A very good museum. It has variety of sections from Indus civilizations, Islamic culture, calligraphy history, Quran section where a number of hand written Qurans from old centuries are placed, then Pakistan cultural section having representation from all provinces. But the section I liked the most was Tehreek e Azadi section of Pakistan where original belongings of Alama Iqbal, certificates awarded to Quaid e Azam and lot more is placed. The only not so good thing was entrance. It was not so clear because of recent construction of food street and underground parking. Park leading to museum needs attention. One more thing, it's entry ticket was probably printed in last century; I'll share it's picture, check yourself. . .

It's a good place for students as it covers cultural awareness, historic concepts. Description is well written, lightning and ambiance is good. We need to work on improving sign for parking, entrance and ticket counter. Digitizing and adding 3D could attract young generation. Activities to engage youth will bring more people. Ticket is reasonable so that all types of people can afford. Souvenir shop and tuck shop could bring more economy.

Visited after many years and saddened to see that such a great place has been ruined. No doubt that many antiques and artifacts are here but overall image and scope of the museum has been ruined. Some galleries has been closed and many artifacts has been moved to some unknown place. Quran Gallery which was situated at ground floor has been shifted to 1st floor. It was and it is an exception. Lovely place to visit. Another place to visit in the museum is Islam Art Gallery which was created right at the previous place of Quran Gallery. Overall it is always a nice experience to be here but it is recommended that concerned authorities should work to maintain this precious place and revive its original beauty.

Please take out time for yourself and it's a must visit place for kids specially the millennials. So they can learn how rich is our history. The best part was the ticket which is almost equivalent to free. It's cost only 20 rupees. The Quranic gallery was so awesome and it has very old Qurans in it. Outside of the building is a huge garden where you can sit, walk and relax. The only thing which I think the have to add here is to add scientific research and achievements which Muslims did in the past. So it can motivate our generation towards science and technology. Highly recommended. Please take out time and visit. The only off day is Wednesday. Usual timings of the museum are 9 to 5pm. And the garden closes at Maghrib.

Obsessed with museums. It has some antiques just like Monh Joh Darho and Gandhara dated and some unique currency of Pakistan and folk of Pakistan's home appliances. The rest of the museum is fine and worth paying a visit.Lawns are well kept and a traditional Sindhi cuisine restaurant serves visitors well. Museum has so much to offer but it does need uplift and maintenance. I was glad to note that at least two galleries were closed and being renovated.

I visited the national museum of pakistan in karachi last week with my family. Last time when I visited the same place it was long time ago when I was a kid and if I remembered it correctly the museum is better before. It seems like there is no improvement even after 25 years. Although they added up an art gallery and a quran gallery but beside these addition other halls looks a clear room for improvement. Anyway it is good place to show our children about our rich heritage so please put some efforts to make some improvements.

The National Museum of Pakistan was established in Frere Hall on 17 April 1950, replacing the defunct Victoria Museum. Frere Hall itself was built in 1865 as a tribute to Sir Bartle Frere, a Commissioner of Sind during the 19th century. Zia-ud-din Ahmed Road) in 1970...

“A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.” “It’s not a museum. It’s not a place of artifacts; it’s a place of ideas.” “The best introduction to art is to stroll through a museum. The more art you see, the more you’ll learn to define your own taste.” “If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.” What you are doing does not matter so much as what you are learning from doing it. It is better not to know and to know that one does not know than presumptuously to attribute some random meaning to symbols.”
