Stay
at
Regent
Plaza,
Karachi,
Pakistan
(2nd
February
to
19th
February):
My
stay
at
Regent
Plaza
can
only
be
described
as
a
descent
into
the
abyss
of
hospitality
hell.
Buckle
up
for
a
ride
through
incompetence,
rudeness,
and
an
overall
disregard
for
basic
human
decency.
1.
Room
Condition:
Walking
into
my
supposed
Twin
Bed
Room
felt
like
stumbling
upon
a
crime
scene.
Ash
marks
on
the
floor,
an
overwhelming
scent
of
cigarettes,
a
bathtub
showcasing
a
thriving
mold
ecosystem
–
it
was
as
if
the
room
hadn't
seen
a
cleaner
in
centuries.
The
bed,
or
rather
the
medieval
torture
device
they
dared
to
call
a
bed,
was
a
masterpiece
of
discomfort.
Springs
jutting
into
every
inch
of
my
back,
no
semblance
of
a
mattress
–
it
was
a
sleepless
night
waiting
to
happen.
The
cracks
on
the
walls
only
added
a
touch
of
post-apocalyptic
ambiance,
and
the
absence
of
windows
for
ventilation
made
me
question
if
I
had
accidentally
booked
a
prison
cell.
2.
Amenities:
The
promised
gym
turned
out
to
be
a
cruel
joke.
Outdated
equipment
that
should
have
been
retired
with
dignity,
broken
machines
held
together
by
wishful
thinking,
and
weights
so
rusted
that
tetanus
became
a
genuine
concern.
The
treadmills
were
a
balancing
act,
threatening
to
launch
me
into
a
wall
with
every
step.
If
this
is
their
definition
of
a
fitness
center,
I'd
rather
take
my
chances
with
an
actual
medieval
torture
chamber.
3.
Staff
Interaction:
Now,
let's
talk
about
the
pièce
de
résistance
–
the
staff.
The
front
desk
struggled
to
find
my
booking,
an
ominous
foreshadowing
of
the
chaos
that
was
to
follow.
The
reservation
manager,
a
master
of
incompetence
and
arrogance,
decided
to
shush
me
as
I
explained
my
grievances.
When
he
finally
located
my
booking
after
a
back-and-forth,
he
pulled
the
"I
was
in
the
army"
card,
attempting
to
intimidate
me
into
submission.
His
abrupt
and
baseless
accusation
that
my
credit
card
company
was
scamming
me
left
me
dumbfounded.
And
let's
not
forget
his
brilliant
rule:
guests
were
not
allowed
to
go
up
to
their
rooms
and
had
to
be
entertained
in
the
lobby.
A
rule
so
absurd
that
even
the
most
obscure
motels
would
scoff
at
the
idea.
When
confronted,
he
resorted
to
yelling
and
threatening
me,
claiming
his
military
background
gave
him
the
right
to
do
as
he
pleased.
I
have
never
encountered
such
unprofessional
and
downright
scary
behavior
in
any
establishment,
let
alone
one
claiming
to
be
a
hotel.
4.
Safety
Concerns:
The
management's
blatant
disregard
for
guest
safety
reached
its
zenith
during
this
interaction.
The
combination
of
a
confrontational
staff
member
and
a
room
that
smelled
like
a
health
hazard
made
the
decision
to
leave
a
matter
of
personal
safety.
5.
False
Advertising
and
Refund
Issues:
Capital
One's
endorsement
of
Regent
Plaza
as
a
4-star
establishment
is
a
cruel
joke.
The
management's
promise
of
a
refund
has
proven
to
be
nothing
more
than
a
mirage.
Three
futile
emails
later,
my
money
remains
in
the
clutches
of
this
abomination
of
a
hotel.
In
conclusion,
Regent
Plaza
is
not
just
a
hotel;
it's
a
cautionary
tale.
A
caution
to
anyone
considering
subjecting
themselves
to
the
horrors
within.
Avoid
at
all
costs,
unless
you
have
a
peculiar
fondness
for
discomfort,
rudeness,
and
potential
danger.
If
negative
stars
were
an
option,
Regent
Plaza
would
proudly
claim
them
all.
As
for
my
refund,
I'll
consider
it
the
price
of
escaping
with
my
sanity
intact.
