Petra is amazing! Must see! Tourist or a local its all beautiful. Lots of rock formations shops and hike up to different vantage points to see the treasury. Famous part of Petra. Naturally very beautiful and packed with people as well. Many have seen this via movies, documentaries, or maybe even a video game, but nothing prepares for clearing the final steps of the Siq (the narrow canyon leading to the Treasury) and seeing it in person. Standing in front of it, taking it all in, appreciating that it was carved from the top down, and the long history is so much more meaningful than any other exposure you may have had before arriving. Experience is different than seeing on photos. Do not take the horses as cost of these is a rip off. Golf cars are available for older people or if you like to get to the treasury quickly but walking is recommended. Amazing place to visit and I highly recommend anyone that comes here to visit the treasury as it’s one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.

Petra is famous for its temples and mausoleums, most of which are built on the edge of the city, above the main street. Some tombs are simply designed, containing numerous burial pits in an unadorned stone mausoleum, while others are elaborately designed. One will have to climb 19 steps to the stop and then 8 more steps through 4 pillars to reach the temple corridor before coming to a main hall with the size of each side of the hall about 28m. At the end is the Most Holy Place. Coming to Petra is not only coming to thousands of years old architecture but also coming to the harmony between a peak culture and majestic nature.

Truly one of the great wonders of the world. While not as impressive on the inside (Indiana Jones lied to me ;) ), The Treasury is an amazing sight to behold. When you first lay eyes on it as you exit the Petra Canyon, it will literally take your breath away. This is a must visit location if you are ever lucky enough to get the opportunity.

How can I rate one of the seven wonders of the world less than five stars? From all the books you read about this place to all the movies that have been filmed here, you will at once not believe your eyes once you see it in real life yet also feel like you’re finally seeing something you’ve always dreamed about. We came in December and the weather was perfect with few tourists crowding around. Someone also got down on one knee and proposed! A truly special place…

Entry was hassle and queue free. Once in get your tickets at the ticket office and then walk to the entry point where they check your tickets and passports. We walked a while on the dirt track and through the canyon in blazing heat to get to this beautiful monument. Where a bit of ancient history awaited us. A place hidden under sand for a thousand years! An iconic Jordanian attraction and a must visit. I couldn't visit Jordan and not visit Petra. Entry is included with the Jordan Pass which waives the Visa cost, so well worth it even if you enter Jordan and only visit Petra. We absolutely loved it! We walked to the top for a better view and had tea with the Bedioun but it was worth it for the crowd free photograph opportunity. Be aware they do ask for money for taking you up to the view point we paid 4 dinar per person which included the tea. If you're too tired to walk back they have camels horses and golf carts to transport you back to the exit for between 10 - 25 Dinar the queues were huge so we walked back. Or you can brave the walk back too at your own peril, exhausting. Honestly though stunning, worth it take it all in and enjoy.

Walking slowly through the canyon is an experience in itself, but the moment the Treasury reveals itself to you is a memory you will treasure for the rest of your life. Try to arrive as early as possible so you have a bit of time without the massive crowds that show up throughout the rest of the day. Hiking up the cliffs with some of the local guides is absolutely worth it!

People say you should enter Petra as early as possible to avoid the crowds. I have different opinion. It’s actually extremely crowded in the morning because everyone thinks about the same thing. We purposely chose to visit Petra around 3pm while most tourists are on the way back and pleasantly surprised saw fewer people here. We ended up with some great shots. Plus, Visiting Petra before it closes also mean your face will not completely dark in the photos because of the backlight in the morning.

If hiking, I recommend taking the back route (moderate 5 miles?) so you can see both treasury and monastery while skipping the uneven 800 steps (you’ll do it downhill instead). If you are quite active, then doing the front to back will be the way to go (hard 10-13miles?). When taking back route, you can pay at Little Petra for a jeep 4x4 to take you to back exit to start the hike. Throughout the hike, there’s little shops that sells water, tea, and coffee. If at any point, you’re too tired, there’s donkeys you can hire to carry you to the next checkpoint. You can also hire camel/ horse to take you back from treasury to main entrance. If you do not want crowds at all, start at 6/7am. Anything later, it’ll be super loud and chaotic at the treasury. It’s actually so loud from all the tourists and scammers that it’s really hard to appreciate the architecture and surrounding. Tourism police available in front of treasury if you need assistance. There’s a “best view” viewpoint that you can haggle (at least 50-80% lower) to get to the top for pictures. You’d have to climb a small hill near the treasury, nothing too bad.

Absolutely stunning. It's good to be here early to avoid the major crowds. You can get a good view from above it you take the Al Khubta trail. This is free and does not require a guide. Just make sure that when you visit any camps or tents you buy a drink while you enjoy the view.

Tips for the wonder of the world: 1. To take the great pictures of it, just go little bit on the side , there is a corner covered with the carpets, you can ask locals to take pictures over there. 2. To get the shots from the top, you need to pay about 10$ per person to the locals that will try to catch you on the streets. Don’t pay more than that. 3. Take proper shoes for climbing as some areas are dangerous :) 4. Enjoy each minute next to this beauty.

It was my dream to visit Petra and I am still mesmerized by it. It's one of the seven wonders of the world. Walking through the canyon is an experience in itself, those huge rocks narrow passage. Wow!! The moment the Treasury reveals itself to you is a memory you will treasure for the rest of your life. Arrive as early as possible to avoid the sun and crowd and to enjoy the Treasury view peaceful. It opens @6 AM and we were there @5:30 AM and it's totally worthy it. We walked to and fro till the The Monastery as well. While returning it was completely crowded. If you are visiting only the Treasury and Royal tombs 3 to 4 hours are enough. But if you wanna go to the Monastery and back and visiting all other places with lunch breaks, small breaks it took us 9 hours on foot and trust me it's totally worth it. Tips: 1: Arrive early 2: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes 3: list down all the places you want to visit 4: watch or know about the Petra before the visit 5: Carry water bottles and snacks

Petra is one of the seven wonders of the world. It is located in Jordan and the people who live in it are called Jordanians. They are Arabs and Arabs are so friendly. Petra is noice place to visit alone, with wife, friends or even family members (that includes kids). It is highly advisable to visit Petra during the sun time whether it be day or evening but Sun should be available. I have attached some pictures for Petra just for your liking. Thanks. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Gorgeous location, well worth the visit and super safe. Plan for two days and a lot of walking to make the best of it. One negative is hard to see the donkeys and camel skinny and probably hungry but history is amazing there.

Petra is amazing! Must see! Tourist or a local its all beautiful. Lots of rock formations shops and hike up to different vantage points to see the treasury. Gold carts are available with guides that offer history lessons in multiple languages.

Of course an iconic site to visit. To avoid crowds, start your tour in the morning and at the back end. This way you will not have too many people. Also, visit Petra By Night. Amazing experience but it’s not every night.

Excellent place to visit we entered from Little Petra with an hour strenuous walk to the Monastery then down past the Queen's palace , amphitheater then on to the Treasury Then up to the viewpoint of the religious sacrifice. Stay at the wonderful Petra guest house at the entrance to Petra.

Finally I can visit Petra. See with my own eyes one of the scene in Indiana Jones. We stayed in a hotel nearby. So early morning we can walk to visit Petra. Suggested allow 3 hours to see the whole thing. Though you can take a carriage to the site then enter the site till the end riding horse, butI choose to walk.mire flexible to take photo and more clearly to see everything. Here you will feel travel to the ancient time. One of most beautiful and unforgettable experience.

Amazing place! The best in Petra for sure. We came here in late morning and it was perfect, not too crowded. Would definitely come back, just amazing! Also worth to climb up and take pictures from the spot from above, where the locals charge a fee ro bring you. Don’t pay more than 5JD per person. Enjoy!

Super, the treasury definitely it's one of the biggest wonders of the world, we had the opportunity to see it from the top, you need a guide to take you there, 1 hour hiking, nice to learn the history, nice museum, but too crowded, vendors are very annoying, careful with the horse or camel ride, they ask for whatever tip you want to give, then, a the end they ask you for fixed price, no nice. If you don't pay they yell at you. Petra at night show its no worth it, save your 17 dinars, they light it up with candles, you barely can see the path,

Absolutely amazing place that you must visit at least once in your lifetime! It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has thousands of years of history. Made famous by the scene that includes the Treasury carved complex in one of the Indiana Jones movies, it has become a popular tourist destination. After going through the entrance, it is a one mile hike to the Treasury through a narrow canyon. You can book a ride there in a golf cart, or ride a horse, if you like. Plan on several hours here to hike around to see all of the ancient structures, tombs, and caves in Petra. It gets very busy and crowded in the middle of the day. It’s best to be at the gates at opening time to beat the crowds. If you get a chance to do the Petra by Night tour, do it! It’s only 3 nights a week.

Amazing to see in the heart of Petra. Definitely worth the hike, and if you go, you must climb up to see it from the top. The climb up is not for the faint of heart (or health). Such a beautiful experience

Amazing! But (as expected) very touristic; including myself :) Use the back entrance! The whole of Petra is beautiful and fantastic to finally see. Whenever you enter from the general entrance at the museum, it will be crowded up until the Treasure. Afterwards the crowds will decrease a lot. On our second day in Petra we asked a taxi to take us to the back entrance. This was the best decision we made! We were the only ones there! We showed our tickets and walked on a paved road for 10-15 minutes until we arrived at the Great Temple.

What an impressive monument!! I climbed both places to also get a view of above. Would recommend the lower one! The second is also nice but takes a lot of effort and time. Do not visit the toilets here. You will find much cleaner in the rest of your visit. If you want to enjoy it with less tourist stay until 7 p.m..

The treasury is the first big monument you encounter on the Petra Trail (starting from the Petra Tourism Center). You need about 30 minutes of walking to reach it. At the treasury you can ride a camel, or enjoy a warm cup of tea/coffee from a small coffee kiosk. You can also climb the side of the opposite mountain to gain a good view of it (the fee is not included in the ticket and it is guided by the locals of the area).

What a stunning place! Petra ancient city is beautiful itself, unfortunately as one of the wonders in the world, it's a tourist city and everything there is about money, at some point turn annoying to be bother by locals trying to selling you everything, even a rock. Now even to climb to have the view of the Treasury have to be done by a local and they charge 15JD, but after paying that I found another round by the Coliseum to get in front of the Treasury for free. Anyway, still being so beautiful when you get up. I recommend to go early in the morning as the gate open at 6am, there you will have Petra for you and other just 6 to 10 people.

This has to be the amazing stunning architectural marvels and made with soo amazing details and precision that everything including, pillar and stones are jaw dropping. Highly recommended to visit and if you get a chance then go to the view point at the back of the mountain in the afternoon, it will be more amazing and surprising how high it has been built.

Absolutely amazing. Such a cool experience. The Treasury is the fanciest, most elaborate of the Petra structures. Views are amazing. You can not enter this structure, but some of the other ones aren't gated off. Prepare yourself for a walk, wear comfortable shoes. Hydrate before and bring water. We walked about 12 miles because we chose to walk the extra distance to the monastery. A lot of people talked about and warned me about the local vendors. Just politely walk passed the people as they try to sell you stuff (trinkets, souvenirs, scarves, horse donkey or camel rides) and say "no thank you". I wasn't hassled at all. Friends who engaged them were followed and harassed. Be confident and polite as you say no.

Priceless, hot as the dickens. Definitely get a local to take ur picture, they are amazing at this. Support the locals but definitely bargain, so not pay what is asked, it’s part and a learning experience to negotiate. One of a kind items that are not mass produced when u get to this site. ‘Y recommendation is to take the cart up, but if u feel Like walking in 100 degree weather 1.2 miles each way, go for it The people can be aggressive but they are trying to make a living as we all are.

👍👍 Walking a short distance past the Treasury you'll come across the Nabatean Theatre.
