If you want a taste of royalty, this palace is a must visit. The legacy and heritage has been maintained, the palace is now closed and not being offered to stay in - realised it during the second visit to the palace after almost 7 years. The pool villas are really big and if you are with kids it's a must for you to spend a day in it. The food is absolutely amazing with great variety of local flavours and usual/standard offerings. The staff is helpful and very friendly. The manager of the property is always on the rounds and greets the guests personally. Extremely polite and a thorough gentleman. The dining area, the cafe cum bar is beautiful. Though newly constructed still manages to maintain the old word royalty and charm. Highly recommended for family and group travel.

It's a beautiful heritage and a palace in Dholpur, Rajasthan. It is gathered that king Scindhias ancestors are still occupying some part of the palace rest they have converted it into a Hotel for tourists. If you want to experience their life style do visit the place. You will really feel like a king when the courteous staff will serve you. The rooms are very spacious with a private courtyard (dalan) and same is the bathroom. The doors are cladded with looking mirrors and add a royal touch to the rooms. The lawns are huge and a very good place to relax and ofcourse for family bonding. You will find a few birds and peacocks here and are soothing to the eyes. All meals and high tea is included in the tariff which is on higher side but the palace is still recommended and adorable. It would have been an excellent place had they included some activities and cultural programs. As Dholpur is secluded place and there is not much to do or explore. Sitting back in room and having three meals and high tea is all that one can do. Outdoor Swimming pool is not temperature controlled and can't be used in winters.

We had an amazing 2 night stay in Dec 2022. The 40 acre plush resort also comprises an existing palace built especially for a visit by Prince Edward of Wales in the early 20th century. The resort organises a tour of the erstwhile palace and open's it's doors to show the grandeur that still reverberates in those walls! We also took the Chambal river safari and the Chambal ravines safari, both of which which were organised by the resort and are totally 'un-missable' if you're travelling to Dholpur. The 'infamous' ravines and their lore of dread was an overwhelming experience, moreso because the hotel staff took us to see a village still inhabited by the descendants. The Chambal river covering an expanse that goes beyond what the eye can see has the majestic crocodiles and alligators in abundance. A must-do. The resort is well-maintained and the food preparation is sumptuous. The staff is exceptionally warm with a ready smile, always. It was very relaxing, indeed, to sit out in the sun and have the peacocks walk around strutting their feathers without a care. I would definitely go back someday and highly recommend this place. Thankyou to all the staff for a memorable stay and thankyou to Wonder Miles for making all the impeccable arrangements. Great going! Best wishes always. Deepak and Cheenu/ Delhi

The Raj Niwas Palace is a calm and quiet place in the centre of the small town of Dhaulpur, Rajasthan. It is situated midway between Agra and Gwalior, at a comfortable 300km from Delhi. It is basically the erstwhile king's palace's compound, managed by their own staff. So dont expect all the luxuries and newness associated with resorts managed by professional hospitality chains. However it has its own quaint charm with a rustic feel. Our pool villa had its own pool (obviously) in the private courtyard. The size of the accomodation (room + courtyard + washroom) was really big. The room had a separate indoor sitting area too. Cleanliness was fine. The laws are pretty big for outdoor activities, with lots of trees and birds like peacocks. However, there arent many facilities here, they will provide you with basic sports equipment if you ask - cricket, football, baddy. The staff is excellent, tries to accomodate all your requests. The food was also very nice. Since there werent many guests at the resort, they asked us for the menu for each meal. They arrange a Chambal Ravine Jeep safari on additional payment basis, which was a lot of fun, especially if you are with family. Overall, it was a really decent and soothing experience.
