I had so much fun staying at Big Millys Backyard. The customer service was amazing and the rooms were clean and nice. Thankfully the Backyard is right off the beach and just a few steps away. I enjoyed the brunch with fresh juice and the live music they provided. Everything was perfect. They really know how to treat their guest. I recommend going there anytime for a getaway.

Need a reggae live band on Saturday and Sunday any where close to kokrobitey and its environs, then look no further. The car park is small but the attendants are happy to help you park well.

Very welcoming and professional staff. Environment feels safe due well-locking doors, cctv on the premises and the option for management to keep your valuables during your stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, good value for money. Food is decent. Unfortunately lots of rubbish on the beach so did not get comfortable getting into the water. If you want a nice swimming experience, I recommend getting a taxi to Wakanda Beach Resort or Belleza Beach House which is 18 minutes away from Big Millies.

We were here unplanned. But it was so worth it . A lot of tourist do visit , hence, it is a great place to socialize. Budget friendly villa , great reception from the staff , live band performances and acrobatics on Saturday nights. The food is also made fresh , I’d recommend you kindly order ahead . The rooms are simple but have everything you need. The property is at the beach so it is very airy. Only down side is the beach is not so clean .

Hung out all day and ate at the restaurant after coming down from Accra to surf in the morning. Terrific place and the sea breeze keeps it nice and cool. Water was pretty clean. Got to meet Milly, too—what a wonderful hostess!

Beautiful Coast side Lodge where people from their walks of life have fun and great memories of life time, there are rooms for rent, a packing space, Restaurant, Drinking bar and the last a seesaw for kids to play with i think thats a bonus.

Nice refuge adjacent to the sea. Waiters/servers must be proactive so they can make money. Parking space available. Safety assured as gate is locked with a security man at post. Food is served.

Crowded on weekends, rough road, many smokers around. Part of my coming here was to experience nature and breath in fresh air. This location did not effective give me that. Other people seems to be really enjoying themselves though.

Is a very nice place where both white and blacks can enjoy there stay with no thieves to worry about… just stay at where you are told to and you are good to go

Door was broken like three times and the room was way hotter and with thicker air than the outside. Mosquito net had holes and bathroom was uncontrollably smelling bad. I think we just had bad luck with our room. Its still a beautiful place with a nice beach. Workers were good too although there were plenty annoying advertisers - for drawings and stuff like that. Weekend-music show was extremly nice. Overall enjoyment was nice.

The staff were super attentive & very welcoming. We met Milly herself and she is a true inspiration. I am a chef and I could fault the food we had. We loved our stay there - best place in Ghana We stayed at the weekend and were treated to some amazing entertainment in the relaxed atmosphere of the bar. We will be going again

It's a stone throw length to the Kokrobite beaches. Has a surf board training within. I usually go there on weekends, sometimes alone and with a friend at other times, the experience doesn't make much of a because the environment is welcoming

Liked their services, the food was well made and was satisfying. The problem I had was the location, you won't easily find it if it's your first time. Generally, it's a cool place with reasonable pricing.

We spent two nights at Big Milly’s, and it was the best! From the moment we entered the gates we were taken well care of by staff and local friends of Mr. Bright. We got drum and dance lessons, private surf instructor, great facilities (a nice, clean and cool room), a big resort with pool and other hangout places, bar and restaurant (the food was better than anything else we’ve had in Ghana). A perfect place for both families, friend groups and solo travellers. You’ll meet so many nice people here, and the prices are very convenient for such a great service. The only thing to comment on is the dirty ocean/beach, with loads of clothes and plastic laying around the shore. However it had just been heavy rain, and we were told that this is not the usual sight.

Nothing's perfect but I may say , Big milly's is a a sure value. Not always impressed with the customer service of some location , Big milly's does the affair and you are greatly welcome by a warm and attentive staff. We as a group visisted the place to enjoy the swimming pool which cost us 30 cedis per adults very affordable. The service was good just that , the toilets needed a bit of freshness except from that , I hope to have the opportunity to stay over there and rate them according to that.

The hotel grounds are very nice and carefully maintained- flowers, trees, grass. The pool is small and unfortunately was shut for a whole day for cleaning which seemed excessive. The site is surrounded by a high wall - probably 2 metres - for security I presume. Unfortunately it also means there is limited breeze from the sea. We were warned that the beach area was dangerous - people regularly get robbed there apparently. But we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the drumming and dancing which was great!

  • 4/5 A E. 11 months ago on Google
I stayed there 4-5 months on and off using jt as a base from which to explore the country. I never had a problem when on the property. Can be dangerous if alone at night and you wander east along the beach too far. I got robbed a couple times late one night. Other than that its a good vibe and very affordable.

We were a little disappointed - the swimming pool was closed a whole day for cleaning and the restaurant area and raised chill out place were also closed for maintenance when we wanted to use them. The set up for the weekend festival started on Wednesday with unnecessarily load music and sound checks running over two days. The drumming and dance performance on Friday night was excellent!

Love its location, have been coming here for years due to its proximity to the beach in Kokrobite. Lots of places to sit and eat, as well as a balcony to overlook the beach. Various entertainment and a pool. Rooms look very reasonable but I have never stayed.

Ratings are based on the pool, cause thats all i did there. Pool was great. The night light has a great vibe. Pool closes at 8pm and a mean guy pops out of no where to sack you😂😂😂

they charge you for non sense things like when you go to the restaurant they give you the bills and there is a Covid 19 fee....when you want to pay by credit card they charge you more...and the wifi is never coming into the room....maybe a good place for ghanean who want to go there just for the week end but for international tourist is not so good honnestly...but the place is beautiful

This is a really chill spot. Prices are good compared to other locations in the same area. The waiters were friendly and helpful. The food takes a while but it’s fresh and tastes good. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

  • 3/5 Tonja C. 3 years ago on Google
The location is right on the beach so that is good but the floor has sand and I don't really like that, the food was good but the menu I was given didn't have the updated prices so when we got the bill it was shocking and deceptive so that is why they only get 3 stars and that is being generous because the service isn't that good.

Very nice place to relax. Good staff, prices appropriate. Overlooking the Atlantic, wonderful. Lifemusik is not so great. Every music has been played by a coverband , and unfortunately not really good. There is also not only Reggae in the music. Maybe you change the time.😉🎶

I found big Millys quite disappointing. First of all they have no chill places to relax and lie down and read a book. It’s all chairs and tables. They have one kind of “chill out” place at a rooftop with tables and sofas. One time I was reading a book there and fell asleep, one of the managers there came up and told me “you can’t sleep here, that’s what your bed in your bedroom is for”. I think it’s quite obvious that no one wants to be in a beach resort in Ghana and sleep in your bedroom where also the fan was broken and it was insanely hot. This lady would walk around and correct people, basically it felt like having your rude grandmother walking around correcting you for no good reason. Their staff also seems to have a tendency of stealing. I left my sandals outside one night and as I was looking for them in the morning I found one of the workers walking around with them digging mud and what not. When I told the same manager the first thing she answered was “well there’s a lot of people here so if you forget your stuff then what do you expect?”. Well I expect your workers to not steal your customers stuff when they leave them in the common area, at least. The normal thing would to collect it in a lost and found area and keep it there for a while. She did agree there, but still her first reaction was a rude “don’t be so stupid” response. Which brings me to another point. This place is open for absolutely everyone, there’s no limit to when the music stop and one of the stages is actually attached to one of the accommodations which makes it feel like your whole room is shaking while they’re playing music. At New Years they were blasting music until 6 in the morning, and other nights Atleast 3-4. I’ve been to crazy party hostels and even there they have some sort of respect and time limit to people acommodatinng. It’s an accommodation and not a night club. Also, their driver they use picked me up to take me to the airport and even though we decided a price he still tried to pressure me for more money because of traffic. When I refused he said I could walk out if I wanted because he knew I was pressured. Some friends who also used him from big Millys called and out extra pressure and I ended up paying what we agreed on. Just an overall disappointing experience to be honest. Pay a little bit extra and go to kokrobite garden, you won’t regret it!

We had a wonderful stay at Big Milly's. We had learned about this place from the netflix documentary Brilliant Corners Ghana, and it had the vibe we were hoping for- funky beach bungalow, with all the necessary accommodations, and most importantly, immersed with local Kokrobite community who frequently come to the hotel for food and hanging out, as well as the incredible music, dance, and acrobatics performances. I recommend going on a weekend if you like a more social party vibe, and the week if you want to be more quiet. I also recommend taking a surf lesson from Joshua's Surf, even if you're a real beginner like me. I also recommend getting a room with a fan to cool things down.
