This place feels like home, whenever I have visited this ghat and the holy river, my senses have experienced a strange comforting joy we all feel at home. This place is very accessible from indore and from mother a parts of Maharashtra. It is wise to visit during morning hours, and on weekdays as it is less crowded and peaceful

Maheshwar Fort on the bank of River Narmada (also known as River Reva) is a favorite tourist destination for a long time, brought in the limelight in recent years because of so many Bollywood movies shot here. Take a boating ride in River Narmada and enjoy the scenic beauty of this place. Maheshwar has been a center of handloom weaving since the 5th century and is known as a center for weaving colorful Maheshwari sarees. Many people visit the town only to buy beautiful sarees.

This is one of the most beautiful ghat I have ever seen in my life. The look if it gives you an idea about how grand it is. You can come here through the fort. There are also other entry points available along the ghat. There are number of small 'Chatri'(which is built by Holkar family members to remember their ancestors) along the ghat. A boat ferry service is also available on the ghat. Current commercialization is affecting the ghat in a bad way. Authorities should try to control it. If you really want to enjoy this place, go there early morning. It can be very crowded during the day and particularly on the weekend.

One of the best ghat I have seen in Madhya Pradesh, it is around 80kms from indore - before Omkareshwar. On the banks of narmada, the fort looks really beautiful. The architecture and engraving on fort walls is amazing. There are few temples also, you can do boating/ river crossing on boats, feed fish, etc, ghats are clean and the beauty of main ghat is breathtaking.

If you're seeking a serene and spiritually enriching experience in the heart of India, look no further than the Narmada Ghat in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. This remarkable destination is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and historical charm. The Narmada Ghat is situated along the sacred Narmada River, one of the seven holy rivers in India, and its significance in Hindu mythology cannot be overstated. As you stand on the steps leading down to the river, you'll feel a profound sense of tranquility and spirituality wash over you. The view of the river and the surrounding landscape is nothing short of breathtaking, especially during sunrise and sunset. The ghat itself is a well-maintained and peaceful place for reflection, meditation, or simply taking in the mesmerizing surroundings. The architectural elegance of the ghat, with its intricately carved stone steps and ghats, showcases the rich heritage of Maheshwar and the craftsmanship of the region. One of the most captivating aspects of Narmada Ghat is the evening aarti ceremony. As the sun dips below the horizon, the ghat comes alive with the melodious chants of hymns and the flickering light of oil lamps. The aura of spirituality and devotion during this ceremony is truly enchanting, making it a must-see experience. Narmada Ghat is not just a place of religious importance; it's also an excellent spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The riverbanks are teeming with a variety of bird species, and you may even spot some local fishermen in action. The nearby town of Maheshwar itself is a charming destination with its historic forts, temples, and vibrant bazaars. It's a perfect place to immerse yourself in the local culture and sample delicious regional cuisine.

Narmada ghat - Beautiful place for pics and well maintained fort. You will be surrounded by people with camera asking to take pics in traditional outfit.. we visited during daytime and the sunrays on Narmada river looked like diamonds floating all over. You can enjoy boating here. The Rajrajeshwar temple is at the ghat and there are a lot of other temples along with samadhi tombs (chattri). Maheshwar fort still holds the rock carvings and the details are eye catching. You can book a guide for the fort visit. Maheshwari sarees are also made here, by the artisans and you an see them making these beautiful sarees, dupattas and clothes. Don't forget to buy them and support these craftswoman. :) It will take 3-4 hours to explore this place, take photos and enjoy with your family. There is not much of climb but it would be difficult for senior citizens to visit fort if they have joint (knee) problems.

What an beautiful place. Visit extremely early in the morning for a crowdless experience. The sunrise landscape a long with the stone carvings make an excellent treat for photography enthusiasts. One can swim in the Narmada. They have got portable changing rooms. The street food around is really tasty & worth exploring. If you happen to go in the evening, then try 7pm. Sunsets are as marvellous as the dawn.

It is a beautiful corridor to the most gorgeous river Narmada. The Ghat is very beautiful redone. It is very close to the Ahilya fort. Must visit place. It had it's onwn beauty in every season you visit in. Ther are no tickets. Less parking and the approach area is through narrow lains. Ther is a ticket counter for the boat rides. The tickets are nominally charged. Enjoy the morning and evening at Ghat. Usually crowded during festivals and weekends. Well preserved and very very pictorial.

Great place, clean and beautiful. Lots of movie shootings have happened in the ghat area. You can take boat ride to sahastradhara in Narmada river - 1200 per boat, 2-3 km, round trip will take around an hour. Its a beautiful place. There is a car parking nearby holkar fort if you are going by your car.

Narmada river is given respect same as mother by locals. This river is truly blessings for the region, its water is so pure that you can directly drink and actually local people and visitors drink from river. Ghat is also very clean. Although swimming is restricted to some extent, because it is very deep river. Boat service is here, you must try boat to go for river upstream. Enjoyed a lot here. I would suggest to visit atleast once.

What a beautiful place and ghat it is! Rani Holkar palace is so pretty and situated on this ghat! The palace is partially converted to royal hotel where you will find beautiful rooms and royal experience. The Ghat have a lot of importance in hindu mythology as here Lord Maheshwar is situated. It's a very old lord shiva mandir. It's just that there is no proper route to walk and reach here. Old and handicapped people will struggle a lot to reach here.

Beautiful place beyond comprehension. You need at least 5 hours to see all the artistic renditions of all structures here. Evening is the best time to visit. You have hardly any food stalls outside. The last part of the road is steep. Food stalls available on ghat. Good place to photograph yourself barring a crowd.

A beautifully built Fort with rich hindu architecture overlooking the scenic Ghats on the bank of River Narmada which is indisputably a perfect delight for every photographer . The place is so tranquil that it will drain you from all your worries and you may sit there for hours or remain there to stay for many days . A perfect place for those who love meditation . The place was built by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar , she is one of the rarest ladies in the history of the world who has so many buildings , dams and roads to her credit . Many films have been shot at this place as the ghats have striking resemblance to the ghats of Banaras.

Nice location to visit, but nowadays it's too crowdy, if you are visiting it for peace of mind, you might be choosing the wrong place but as far as boating or swimming is concerned, an excellent place to come with your family, partner, etc. Try bringing your sources of food and water if you are a newcomer or a visitor from far.
