Historical place Maheswar fort, temple and mesmerizing yamuna river view. They also have boat ride activity. Along with temple & fort, there's one more important thing to check about is Ahilyabai and her history..

It was great experience visiting Maheshwar Fort and Ahilya Ghat, historical rajwada and maheshwar Fort of Ahilya Bai holkar Devi, its architecture is wonderful, also many scene's of different movies have been filmed here like :The cycle scene in song of movie PADMAN of Akshay Kumar etc. Always be careful with your valuables as you may get pickpocketed. There are so many temples near and inside maheshwar Fort. It has great crowd on weekends and holidays. You can also enjoy boating there for single person its 50RS. and for groups and family it varies but its very nominal not too expensive. From boat you can see whole maheshwar Fort. You can have food near Fort at place named Shri Banke Bihari Palace it has very tasty Dal Bati Thali and Bhojan Thali for Rs.150 and Rs.70 respectively. Its pure veg place with great quality food. Overall it was great experience visiting Maheshwar Ghat.

This is one of the best places one should and must visit nearby indore (~95 kms) . The best time of the day, that i think to visit Maheshwar is early morning around 6 am. Reason, it is peaceful and serene early in the morning here. Rest of the time it could be crowded and you won't be able to embrace the beauty . So I would highly recommend going early morning at ghat and in the fort. Fort opens at 7 am. And you will have all your comfort in exploring the fort and even you can peacefully take a dip in river narmada at ghat. If you have old aged people or kids in your group I would recommend taking e-rickshaw till the fort main gate. Else you'll have to do some walking(~ 2kms on uneven patches or kaccha road ). Also expect atleast 150 steps climbing up/down inside fort. However at the end everything is worth it. Beauty if this place is mesmerizing in the early morning time especially. Note : you can get e-rikshaw contact from locals or from hotel you are staying. They operate from 5 am in morning.

This lesser known beautiful ghat is situated on the river Narmada. This historically important place have stunning architecture and beautiful temples. The carvings are very intricate and beautiful. The place is lively and gives you the vibe of Varanasi ghats. You can have a boat ride over the Narmada also.

Maheshwar ghat is one of the best place to hangout with friends and family. The architecture is really amazing. One can enjoy boating there as well and also can spent sometime to have a look at sunset. I can't describe the feeling in words when I saw the sunset. The vibes are different from the rest of the places.

The ghats offers a scenic view of river Narmada. The construction and architecture is of Maratha Style with carvings on temples and Ghats. Boating facility is available right at the Ghats. The place has been shown in many movies as Banaras ghat

Incomparable stone carving, So beautiful, can't express in words. Worth watching and experiencing by self only. Please take some more time to enjoy the work done here by the Great Lokmata Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore.

The story begins 'its believed that'..so the author doesn't believe in it but giving wisdom to others. This is the 'melach' influence ! A temple town on the bank of Narmada River, Maheshwar is situated in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. It is believed that Lord Shiva is worshipped where the Narmada flows because he is the only idol of inner peace to calm her. Besides, Maheshwar is known for its spiritual importance, referred to as Mahishmati in the famous Hindu epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. The city has a number of Shiva temples that throng plenty of pilgrims from all across the world. In addition to all these, Maheshwar is popular for making unique and delicate cotton and silk blend handloom saris. It is recognized for its huge production of Maheshwari sarees and this makes it a popular tourist destination. The town also holds the distinction of being the capital of Rajmata Ahilya Devi Holkar's empire during the 18th century. This historic town weaves spirituality and folklore with the beauty of nature and Maheshwari sarees, bringing alive a child-like awe in you.

The ghat is not maintained, some places stink very badly, a lot of maintenance is required, you can enjoy the boat ride and also spend some time watching the sunset. Winter is the best time to visit. Many people came here for pre - wedding shoot, you can see this ghat in some movies.

Also known as Ahilya Ghat, Maheshwar Ghat is situated right below the Maheshwar Fort or Holkar Fort. It was built by the Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar. The architecture of the ghat is a mixture of Maratha, Rajput, and Mughal architectural styles. The Narmada Ghat here is lined up with many small temples and chhatris that one can see from the top of Ahilya Fort. One can see small and big Shivalinga's all along the ghat. Maheshwar Ghat is very clean and well kept. The ghat is safe to walk and take photos of Maheshwar Fort. The Narmada River flows beside hence you can sit and watch it for hours. There is also a beautiful shiva temple on the banks of the river. This is a picturesque location and very calming to the mind as u can just keep sitting here in the light river breeze and forget about everything else. The backdrop framed by the Ahilya Fort and the Shiva temple is beautiful and if you take a boat ride during sundown it is magical. The best time to visit the Ghat is early morning and evening from 4 PM onwards. One can also attend the spectacular Narmada Aarti at 8 PM every day. Timings: 4 AM - 8 PM Entry: Free

Can't share experience in words. Visit Maheshwar fort and ghat . History and greatness of our kings and Queen to be experienced and not be read. Winter season is best time. Check for Narmada pragat din and attain holy ceremony on banks of Maheshwar.

Picturesque Magnificent Maheshwar ghat is undoubtedly a must visit for all the lovers of architecture and design. The whole environment is so serene as well filled with divine energy that one can spend eternity by just looking at the holy Narmada. Lots of activities for kids too! Well maintained ghats, good hygiene and each temple situated on the ghats has their own glorious past. A must visit for all the people..

Many historians identify Maheshwar as the ancient town of Mahishmati. It is believed Maheshwar was build on the ancient city of Somvanshya Shastrarjun Kshatriya and was the capital of the King Kartavirya Arjun, who is mentioned in the Sanskrit Epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. Much later, it became the capital of the Maratha Kings, the Holkars. Maratha Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar (1725-1795) took over the reigns of Maheshwar after her young son Male Rao Holkar, heir to the throne died, soon after her father-in-law, Malhar Rao Holkar’s death (her husband Khaderao Holkar had died almost 12 years earlier). Maheshwar is famous for its textiles, and no visit is complete without shopping for some exclusive handwoven sprees, stoles and fabrics. In fact ‘Maheshwari’ is now a coveted genre in Sarees. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s support to architecture and sculpture can be seen in the fabulous fort and ghat temples in Maheshwar itself. The exquisite carvings and design speak of the vibrant and rich culture of its times. Maheshwar has to be seen to be believed.

Narmada River, lovingly referred to as "Ma Rewa", is an enchanting haven where nature and spirituality intertwine harmoniously. It was a mind blowing experience on boating and Aarti at ghat is a must to do while visiting Maheshwar.

Maheshwar Ghat💯 is very clean as it is best to take photos of Maheshwar Fort. The Shiv temple on the banks of the river is perfect. You can enjoy sitting here in the river and experience the view. It is must to have a boat ride during sundown making trip special at last.🔥
