In Madikeri this is must visit place. It’s in heart of city. At the entrance T55 tank , Mig 21 along with scale navy ship model is kept. Next to it is the Sunny side - the residence of General KS Thimayya has been converted into Memorial museum which showcase the life and achievement of General Thimayya . Arms used by solider are kept at the museum. Writing in museum are well presented as if General is narrating his story. Beside museum there is cafeteria and souvenir shop where you get some memento. Overall you can spend easily 1-2hrs. Worth visiting this patriotic place

Sunnyside is an incredible tribute to an incredible person. The late general's ancestral home has been converted to a museum that was inaugurated in 2021 by the President. His story has been told in great detail through pictures, paintings, stories and collected memorabilia. The attention to detail is excellent. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours here. This place is a must visit for people travelling to Madikeri.

Its a thankful thing that General Thimmaya's family gave his ancestral property to the government. The entire nation is debuted to his family for converging it to indias rarest army memorial. The huge tanks, aeroplane and ship model are great. Batons and rifles are exhibited here. All the property with it's monuments are kept well. I am a satisfied visitor.

Started just this year (2021), this is a war museum dedicated to Gen. Thimaiyya. You can easily spend 2 hours if you want to read through the museum in detail. Best time to visit: after 4:30 PM. You will be right in time to visit the museum inside, by the time you come out the lights will be on and the place is very pretty around dusk. Place was squeaky clean and shiny when we visited. Great spot for pictures as well.

Extremely well maintained , worth a visit . After a lot of hard work and fighting with the government, general thimmayas house has been converted into a memorial for him . It is very interactive, with video documentary rooms showing his struggle to capture peaks for our country . Even if you’re not as patriotic, the house itself is worth seeing .Truly a great experience.

Every Indian must visit this iconic place which was home to Gen. Thimmaiah which he fondly called as Sunnyside. The entire house has been beautifully restored to its past glory along with gardens and military tank outside. There is a small shop/cafe as well for the visitors. All those visiting madikeri should keep this place on their list. Entry fee is nominal. A visit to this place will definitely make us feel proud about Gen. Thimmaiah and the great Indian Army.

Excited, enthralled to see our great warrior Gen. K S Thimmayya DSO, memorial, Sunnyside in Madikeri.🙏🌹 Complete bunglow is looking so neat and organized. All his childhood photos, marriage ceremony, service are so neatly arranged. The entrance, hall, bed room, dining hall, TV show ... looking as if the General is still living here. Truly heart felt tributes.. Kudos and hats off to the person who thought of this great Idea to our great valour..🙏🙏🙏 Aircraft, tanks are kept here which were used in the war. Amar Jawan.. memorial is a true tribute to our great souls who sacrificed their lives for our present and future...🌹🙏🌺 And it's our moral responsibility to keep our children and grandchildren well informed about their Patriotism, valour and fighting spirit... Come and show and share details of the pains our authorities have taken to keep the house 🏠 in order.. Coorg is the place where each family produces a warrior who joins the army in our country... 🙏🌹🌺 I remember an anecdote... Janani janmabhumishcha Swargadapi gareeyasi. Means mother land is more important than the heaven..

Get to feel the life of the 4th General of India. Do view the video showed in the TV room. You can get to know a brief background and description about General Thimayya from the gatekeeper sitting just outside the Sunnyside house.

General Thimayya's story is being nicely told in Sunnyside, The General's erstwhile ancestral place, which is now being maintained by GoI and the army. A must visit for all who comes to Madikere. However, the presentation of our ex-president Late APJ Abdul Kalam sir's memorial is much better than this place. Tourists get confused on which way to proceed. The authorities could have guided the tourists through markers guiding them which way to proceed to understand the various stages of the life of the general. The MIG21, "Himmat" (T55 tank), the Gatling gun and a model of a ship and several guns, LMGs and other memorabilia takes you back to the period just before the Indo China war of 1962 and Indo Pak war of 1971.

Can be visited once. The MIG and tank are pathetically maintained. The museum is maintained well. The entry fees for adult in Rs. 30 and have limited parking space outside the premises

Very well maintained museum. The curator speaks about each item with so much of passion, being a veteran. Great place to visit. If one have young children this is a very good place to take them. The war trophies outside would definitely be a motivation for youngsters.
