A miniature replica of Swayambhunath. Built around 1650 AD. Good place to hang out. A festival is held near the stupa on the full moon day of Asoj (September/October), especially by Shakyas of Ason.

It was crowded. The sound of wind in the flags is holy. There is a hidden power inside this place, you can feel it in your heart (at least i felt it)

Swayambhunath Swayambhunath means self spring and can be reached from Kathmandu either by busses or taxis or local tempo kind of vehicles . There is an entrance fees for the people visiting from SARC countries and other countries .The entrance is cheaper for the people from SARC countries then other countries . The moment you enter you feel a sense of spirituality and calm. The energy here is very beautiful as the place itself . There is a very big spotless and beautiful white Stupa inside the premises .You can see people from all over the world here enjoying the beautiful energy of the stupa and the whole place . The round space is enclosed by shops and restaurants displaying lots of different things of interest of people . Apart from expats lots of local people of Nepal visit Swyambhu to pray and pay their respect to Buddha and the Stupa. There is a small monastery kind of place inside and one can go up the roof top and enjoy the view of the stupa from there .The view from the top is very beautiful. You can climb up the steps and walk around the stupa one can experience some kind of silence within even though the place is full of people . One can walk outside the stupa area and explore different Tibetan restaurant and enjoy Tibetan cuisine . Evenings are quite good to visit the stupa .

Easily missed tucked away in a corner, pigeons perched at Shree Ghah Chaitya Buddhist Stupa a short walk from Thamel, Durbar Square Kathmandu Nepal. Shree Ghah is easy to miss unless you go looking for it. Not on most recommendation lists due to it being small but definitely worth a visit.

Buddhist Stupa, only a short walk from Thamel centre, on the way to Kathmandu Durbar Square, highlighted by a raised step on the main road, and then down a secluded alley. You will be impressed by the spacing and openness of the Square, usually full of pigeons fed by locals, and wonderful for photographers.

Beautiful square located in the heart of Kathmandu city, within walking distance from Thamel area. The Square is no more than 70 meters x 4. One of the popular site for Buddhist Newars of Kathmandu. The most popular Tibetan pilgrimage site in the old town is this lovely stupa, a small copy dating from around 1650 of the great Swayambhunath complex. Also contains a two storey pagoda to Hariti, the goddess of smallpox . In the northeast corner is the Tibetan style Durbgon Janchup Choeling Monastery. There are numerous statues and a school.

The place has high energy... One can spend a few hours on meditation. This place is also known as a smaller version of Swomyambhu or Monkey Temple.. There are no monkeys here but pigeons n Street dogs..

Calm place with buddhist dome where you can just relax enjoying ice cream and feeding birds (especially pigeons). Also the temple at the right side to the entrance opens once in a while which is beautiful. There is also many places where you can sit and drink tea. Additionally, a new restaurant is open for the visitors for better food experience called 'Chirbir'.

we paid a visit in the evening. Was not crowded per say but there were plenty of locals lounging in the shade around the square. there is some construction that obscures some of the view but its still a great little place to walk around.

Originally this Shreegha Bihar is established in this place by flying from Lhasha by Tantric Bidhya by one of the Trantric named Bajra. Shreegha Bihar is a very beautiful alike little Swoyambhu Stupa . You'll find it down a little ahead from Bangemudha and from other side its near to Thahity and not far from Thamel. One minute you're in the busy Street lined with Shops, Stalls, avoiding Motor Scooters, the next you're in a tranquil place - that's Kathmandu! The Square is no more than 70 meters x 4. The main attractions to the eye are The Drubgon Jangchup Choeling Buddhist Monastery / Temple and the Khatesimbu Stupa. Amidst these are numerous Statues, a Old Govt. School Named as Pravat Secondary School inside this Bihar . Mostly people enjoy visiting this place for Hot Lemon, feeding to Pigeons. The Temple is really decorative and full of colours. You can walk around it setting off the Prayer Drums, light a candle for someone but best of all is the serenity of it all; it's quiet and on the occasions I popped in hardly saw any Tourists at all. Entry appears to be free but there's an opportunity to make a donation. There is absolutely no 'sell', an example of the Buddhist lifestyle. It seemed to me the School has continuous breaks, or it perhaps a roster system as each time I came across Children playing football with a Tennis Ball around the western side of the Square. This is something you find all over Kathmandu, play + prayer = happiness, or as near to it as you can get, also of course that in most cases in Nepal, all Religions share their Holy Places You won't be harassed should you decide to take a seat for a while, it's a beautiful place to do so and I highly recommend searching it out. I wouldn't suggest having a Sandwich there though, trust me, there are a lot of Pigeons!

This stupa area is a great place for hangout. You can go along with your friends in the evening and have very famous hot lemon over there. There is also a kulfi shop where you can get "titaura kulfi" a unique popsicle that tastes soury and salty. There is also restaurants serving chatpate and laphings. Go along with your friends in the evening, you'll have a good time!

Great place for meetup & hangouts as long as you don't create too much loud around here. There's a good cafe for some food and a great ice-cream place on a corner.
