I finally found juicy Momos in Kathmandu 😋. That too at just Rs. 200! Great restaurant serving fresh Nepali food.

Amazing Nepalese restaurant in Thamel - Service was excellent (very friendly & quick to serve ), the food was delicious (a lovely array of flavours and textures) and the portion size was very generous for the price, they even included a refill halfway through! 5/5 would definitely recommend when visiting Kathmandu!

Delicious food at a very good price. All the dishes I tried are tasty and big portion. The dal bat here is super delicious and a lot of refills. You have to try their momos too. The staff is super nice and friendly. Love this place!!

One of the best dal bhats in the area, we keep coming back. Their dal bhat is always very fresh and hot and is served with sizzling butter. Their potato curry is great. There are free refills for everything as it is supposed to be. The momos were also great, just did not like the fried chicken much. Banana lassis are great.

Paru Thakali Kitchen has been a fantastic experience. We were staying at Yakety Yak and ate here plenty of times. Paras, our order taker was exceptionally good with his suggestions and serving. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re staying in Thamel.

My partner and I were staying in the Thamel area after trekking. We wanted an authentic Nepali place to enjoy the local cuisine before flying out. We chose this place due to its location and good rating. There was a limited menu due to it being a festival weekend, which was fine. The veg momos were excellent! For these, I would come again. The atmosphere was also relaxed and comfortable. However, we both ordered iced tea - this was a mistake. We confirmed prior to ordering it that it was made with mineral water and the waiter advised us yes. When the drinks came out they had ice in them - so we asked the staff if the ice was also mineral water. There was a language barrier which made it somewhat difficult to explain our request - but finally they advised us “regular water, but it’s fine to drink”. They didn’t seem to understand why we would not drink the iced tea with tap water ice in it, and were confused even when we asked them to take away the untouched drinks. There was no offer of replacement and we still paid for the drinks at the end of our lunch. Our biggest concern was their lack of perception regarding WHY the tap water was a problem for westerners. I’m sure the restaurant is lovely for locals, and their food was nice, but I would advise caution for foreigners ordering drinks here. For this reason, and for the lack of attentive service I would not visit again.

Authentic Nepali Thakali Dal Baht, where rice being soaked with spicy flavorful bean/curry sources, in contrast to crunchy pickle and paper-thin papad as sides. Plain rice and sides in plates can be refilled without additional cost. Waiters shall cruise around and asking whether a refill is needed, however, some may deliberately ignore foreign eaters who do not know the Nepali tradition of free refillings. Don’t be hesitate, just ask. We had our last dinner in Paru Thakali Kitchen before departing KTM, it did not let us down.

I was having a hard time finding this restaurant from the main street, but some friendly locals pointed us the right way of heading up to the first floor. The food was good, and the staff was super nice recommended us a few must try options. Thakali set does come with free refill of rice, vegetables and sauces.

I came across Paru Thakali via reviews on Google maps. We had the mutton set dhido and chicken set Thakali Thali. The set includes a taste of a few different things such as pickled veggies, meat curry, lentil soup and thin potato strips like fries. Garnishes were offered and so were refills but not for the curry. Unfortunately, both the mutton and chicken curry had one piece of meat each and the rest was meatless bones. The flavors were nice and spicy, but nothing great stood out for us. The service was okay and same for the atmosphere.

I wouldn’t write this comment but I had too because I felt it. Went there 3 times: 1st exp -> Moderate experience. Staff were of moderate behaviour, food was excellent. 2nd -> Excellent experience. Staff were really well mannered, helpful even it was crowded at the time. Food was also tasty and atmosphere was so positive. And the reason for all this good happening was because on that day the owner of restaurant was there. 3rd -> Below Moderate experience. Staff weren’t welcoming. Didn’t assist as they did on the second time even it wasn’t busy. They just stared at us. May be because we were now regular customers. But the ultimate reason for not being the same atmosphere as the 2nd time was because there wasn’t the owner at that day as we had little chats while having dinner. Female customers didn’t gave good energy. Whilst, Male customers were active, helpful and well mannered. These comments are just our thoughts. We don’t want to spoil the reputation of this nice restaurant. After all, human behaviours aren’t the same every time.

We arrived with just a couple inside the restaurant, but then like after 20 mins, so many people came to here to have dinner, at around 1930. Food was ok.

Chicken thukpa was pretty spicy, but taste is still good. Good value for price, but not the best thukpa I tried in Kathmandu. I also faced with insects, small cockroach, ha ha classic...

Had visited Paru Thakali yesterday to try Local chicken dhido set. I must say, I wasn't disappointed with the food and environment. The service was prompt and they also had sit-on-floor arrangement, which I think should be provided by every Thakali kitchen. Plus, in place of western style taps, they have stone carved, Nepali dhunge dhara too.

The food was delicious but you could see insects (साङला) crawling in and around the place where you could sit cross legged (पलेटी कसेर बस्ने ठाउँ). But if you are like me, who is not bothered by insects the place offers delicious food.

So tasty and the best/friendliest service!!! Very nice atmosphere. The veg dhido is well worth it. You will roll out of here happily as the refills just keep coming. Some of the most competitive prices I’ve seen in Thamel.
