This place is right choice for Japanese cuisine. Their menu is pretty large. Salmon sushi is worth trying every time. Ground room seems small and congested. The other building is lil bigger and spacious. They accept cards if you don’t have cash.

Like any other japanese eatery, they welcome you with their special Ocha tea. The service is so quick... you order something and it arrives within a few minutes. I also liked the taste of green pickle paste they serve with many of their delicacies. Fresh salmon sushi is a must try.. costs you around 8 dollars for 8 pieces.

My friend took me here to try Japanese food as she loves the food of this place. The place is beautifully decorated. Service is quick, food is amazing. All the staffs were friendly and greeting us including the kitchen staffs. We had tempura and bento box.

Soup is spot on for Ramen and Curry cutlet udon. Well done!!! Unfortunately the ramen seemed more like spaghetti and udon like flat noodles. Still a beautiful and restful place to enjoy a meal. Do plan to wait a bit for meals.

Very nice place to eat. Food taste great and the service was good - they took the orders and requests very well (the servers seemed a bit reserved tho). Bento box was awesome, and the chicken teriyaki was lit too

We ordered so much food and liked most of it. Salmon sushi was the biggest disappointment. Teriaki bento box was our favourite.

Loved the Ebi Don (fried prawn and egg on top of rice) and Jaja Men. All flavors were on point! Love their miso soup as well.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Momotarou Japanese Restaurant in Thamel, Nepal. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the restaurant's authentic Japanese atmosphere. The decor was traditional and elegant, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming The food at Momotarou was absolutely delicious. I ordered a variety of dishes, including sushi, tempura, and teriyaki, and each one was expertly prepared and presented. The sushi was particularly fresh and flavorful, and the tempura was crispy and light. The teriyaki was also cooked to perfection, with a rich and savory sauce. I also enjoyed the service at Momotarou. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they were happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions I had about the menu. Overall, I had a truly delightful dining experience at Momotarou Japanese Restaurant. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Japanese cuisine in Thame

I came back three times, as appetite was bit delicate recovering from altitude. Didn’t try the sushi / nigiri which I would normally go for, and played safe with the bento boxes - totally recommend. A little bit of everything and overall generous portions, the mix of tastes and textures great. Good ocha / tea.

The renovation is very nicely done. Food was average, the saba mackerel was good, the gyoza had Nepali spices and was Nepali kothey. The ramen, bento were good.

Its a go to place for japanese cuisine, and all the items in the menu are delicious. However, I recommend playing safe by trying items such as udon, sushi, ramen if you are a beginner for this cuisine. However, the menu with picture helps a lot for the type of food you are going to serve. Also, the hospitality is very good and welcome drink is always my favorite one. Also, it would be good if the service tasks were deducted as food is already quite expensive and further adding service task is not such a good idea. The food quantity is also quite good

Overall good but there was this one staff who didn’t wear mask. I wish the staff would wear mask when interacting with the customers. The mixed fried rice, pork cutlet and eggs were really delicious.

I loved spending my time at this place especially for my dinner. I had vegetarian fried rice with lime soda water. Also, prior to this, they served me a complimentary drink that tasted more like a Kashmiri Kahwa.

Everything about this place is great. A lot of choice of Japanese food at very good price. I went there many times and tried different dishes and they were all excellent. Service is very good too. It's best to sit in the second room in the back. It's a lot more cosy.

Food was okay. I had a bento box, portion was good but rice and meat was too dry. Miso soup felt a bit off. The japanese in namche was much better. Sushi tasted ok too.

This Restaurant is perfectly located within walking distance to an amazing tourist area. The wide selection of Japanese foods is impressive, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Don't miss their mocktails—they're a hit! The server was very friendly, making it a cute and enjoyable experience. Definitely returning.

Excellent, casual Japanese food; Momotarou was, by far, our best food experience out of many in Kathmandu. Service was excellent and the food was delicious: tasty fresh pickles aplenty, perfect cold chuka noodles, searingly spicy Karakuchi ramen.

Nice place to have Japanese cuisine but ones who don't have a taste of Japanese food may dislike it. But if u want to explore Japanese cuisine you may. And also the quantity is quite small compared to price which might be not reasonable for us like Nepalese but that's how Japanese cuisine work.some cuisines

Went here twice while I was In Kathmandu - very decent Japanese food. Didn’t try the sushi as I wasn’t sure about where they get their fish from but the katsu curry was very nice!

Momotarou is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Thamel. “Kabu-don” ~ Rice with grilled catfish is my favorite on their menu. Fried tofu with ginger on top is unbelievably tasty (sorry forgot the name). Eggplant stir fried with miso sauce is just nice. Whenever you crave for asian cuisine especially after spending lots of time in the mountains. I’ve come here countless times during the past 5 years. Highly recommended 👌🏻

The food was average except the chicken katsu curry with rice. It was best chicken katsu curry rice I have ever tried and I live in London. The avocado smoothie was a bit bitter. The drinks were nice and the staffs were great and cheerful.

In Japanese Cuisine Udon Noodle Soup is what i like the most, It was really good and big portion what i couldn't finished eating but one thing i noticed is that the guy is not welcoming i was trynna sit in the chair but i didn't even see he left the menu on the corner of the table without talking to me even though the restaurant is not busy there was only one family eating already that is why just you got 3 star(its ok)

Great food and plenty of options but not too many that it makes you think the food isn’t fresh. Everything was very tasty and the tea the offer is unlimited. The only downside was the chicken that was a bit dry, everything else was great.

Good Japanese food here in Nepal. Tasty but a little salty. Enjoyed every dishes we ordered. If the rice was softer will be terrific. Prices exclude 10% service charged and 13%vat
