The taste of the めか漬け is like dirty clothes or the rag. ——— Settled in a small alley of Thamel, we tried our third Japanese restaurant after Kizuna or Ofukuro No Aji. We are very regretful to rank it as 1 star. Okayadon is okay though the rice is too soft, but you cannot ask more as they are using good quality of Japanese rice, also miso soup is beyond standard. What make us give 1 star is their hygiene issue. Both of our pickle radish and cucumber have very STRONG SMELL of cleaning rag, just like they pickled it with dirty water just soaking the clothes. We told the kitchen staff immediately, and the staff told us they are using ‘traditional vinegar’. Unfortunately it is NOT the taster of vinegar. Obviously there was something DROP inside but the kitchen staff just denied and emphasized the authenticity of the recipe. I throw up immediately and we both keep it away. After the whole meal I even vomit right away on the table, gastroenteritis and diarrhea after we back to home. Say again, I eat Japanese food for over 30 years, I never taste any vinegar like this with taste of cleaning rag. Please value and improve your hygiene as it’s the real basic for the food.

Ordered the bento and it matches my expectations! Fried pork and teriyaki chicken are not at all far from what I had in Japan, and quantity is abundant! A nice spot to go if you miss some Japanese food :)

Dinner was really good. They offered complementary snacks, drinks and fruits after food. Only bad thing I can mention is they forgot one order. But the food was tasty. They have small shelf of Japanese books which is a nice touch.

The price was reasonable, the staffs were so incredible they were one of the best staffs you can find. They also give freebies which made us feel appreciated. The place is difficult to find and you would think it's an abandoned place from the exterior but the interior is so damn nice and clean. Loved it

Having some time in Japan, it's nice to find some place that serves authentic Japanese food. It's a family business and it's impressive that the owner hasn't been to Japan. I'm assuming that there's some Japanese origin further up the family tree. They served us some free food while we were waiting. The host is very courteous and the ambiance has the Japan vibe to it. Definitely a place to visit again.

this place is like my safe place. when i'm feeling down, i just go there alone, stay in the corner seat and order katsudon. i'm usually the only person there so i love that vibe.

The food here is above S tier. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with beautiful decor and soft lighting that set the perfect mood for a relaxing evening. But what really sets Nagomi apart is the freebies! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the restaurant offers complimentary appetizers

I frequent this place with my friends a lot. We've had some of the most wonderful Japanese food here. The hospitality and service of this place is the best we've ever seen. Definitely recommend.

I had the chicken teriyaki that comes with rice and a few extras, including a delicious croquette and a piece of watermelon (not in the picture). I loved the ambiance and the service. Recommended!

A rare occasion where the food, service, and atmosphere are top notch for a restaurant. The place feels amazing and the food was great. The staff were friendly and the service was swift. Once you're seated, you get greeted with a starter to stimulate your palate. After you've had your food, you get another treat with a small dessert. Loved the service and made me want to visit the place again. The food was amazing but I just wished Japanese cuisine had a little more spice to it. Felt a little underspiced for my spice savvy palate. Nothing against the restaurant though. The place is great and worth a visit. The prices were also reasonable with nothing being over the top expensive. All in all, a great experience.

The deep fried potato appetiser was impressive. The food was tasty and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Just the rice was not Japanese rice (understandable though) and the spinach salad with sesame dressing was too dry

BEST JAPANESE IN KATHMANDU Nepalese server actually speaks Japanese!! Outstanding service, quality food and fast delivery. Cozy authentic atmosphere, clean toilets. Appetizer, tea AND fruit on the house! Couldn't ask for more. 10/10 recommended

I will keep it short and simple, it is the best chicken teriyaki I’ve ever tried. The mixture of the sauces is just perfectly balanced, perfect amount of salt and perfect cooking of the chicken. The amount can be for some considerated as small, but in my opinion is perfect to not overdo the overall taste and felling. Absolutely amazing. Additionally, I also ordered the cucumber sushi; simple but in that simplicity lies a great freshness and light flavors that in combination with some wasabi it is just perfect for the after-meal or something more smooth. 10000% recommended.

While recovering from food poisoning and diarrhea, I couldn't eat anything heavy spiced and oily. So I came here for Udon and some soupy food to regenerate my body! At first we were served Genmaicha, not Ocha to my surprised. My husband's chicken katsu was very well fried. While my Nabeyaki udon was in a giant stone bowl, tailored to have no pork. I didn't thought I would be able to finish the whole stone bowl of Udon because of my lack of appetite from the previous 4 days... but I finished everything! Including the small well balanced pickled dish. The owner was super friendly, he studied Japanese and run the restaurant with his father for 40 years as a family business. I don't believe they had ever been to Japan, but the food were so similar to authentic it was very soothing and light. Even the interior felt like a hidden Japanese washoku shop you would actually find in the alley of Japan. Before leaving, the owner even treated us some plums harvested right in season from his own home farm!

As an individual who’s favourite cuisine is Japanese and has experience living in Japan , the food here is amazing. I was so shocked to find an authentic Japanese restaurant in Nepal, food was vibrant and fresh , tasty and rice was cooked to perfection, was great to have some comfort food.

Favorite Japanese restaurant in Thamel. It's expensive-ish but I'd say the price is justified. Expect to pay around 500-800 per person here. The food is worth every penny though.

I really like their katsudon. It's my all time favourite..

A hidden gem in Thamel! Very friendly and attentive service. The owner was able to make all sorts of changes to accommodate for vegetarians and the food was super delicious. Best value for the money 👍🏻

It's a delightful little restaurant tucked away in a quiet side street ,which is a little difficult to find if one doesn't know about it. Had tried the tuna maki roll, soba noodles with tempura , pork cutlet set and katsudon and all of it tasted great ! Really enjoyed the food . The employees were very polite and helpful.They even gave us complimentary croquettes and a bottle of water !

Tried the Oyako Don, and it was tasty. Portion was just nice. Also had the Goma Ae as an additional side dish. It was a tad sweet for me. Tried their Nepali Sake and after tasting it, I realised it was their local Raksi. Didn't find that it was worth the price (Rs 450 for 180ml). There were also small free side dishes (potato croquet and papaya) besides 2 types of pickles. The overall atmosphere was pretty authentic.

Fabulous place. Food is delicious, the service excellent and atmosphere great. The fact the place was full of Japanese customers except for me and my friend was also a good commendation.

We had katsudon, food was ok and service was very nice, side dishes and the complimentary dish was a plus too. The place is cosy but can be abit noisy when full.

One of the better Japanese restaurants in Kathmandu. I think it has several very nice dishes! Just for Sushi I thought that you get better options for example at nearby Momotarou

Complimentary Starter, Complimentary Ocha(tea), Complimentary Desert, Reasonable Price, Nice Ambience, authentic Japanese cuisine, Nice Staffs. What more can a person need? The perfect go to for Japanese cuisine for me atleast.
