A pretty good hiking spot for people residing inside Kathmandu Valley. Not being a regular hiker and being some over weight (90 Kgs) I had to struggle with the accent on the hike. I recommend taking enough water and food as the hike spans up to 3 hours from the Shivapuri Gate and people usually go above this location to the Shivapuri Peak. We followed a different route on the decent which was a good decision as the steps were more elevated on the way back.

All the way in to the jungle of shivapuri, one can pursue through Nagi Gumba or in between there is a helipad through which one can directly reach Baghdwar which will reduce hike time about 1 hr in total. We took through Nagi Gumba as we hadn't been there before. Lots of uptrails with staircase all the way to Baghdwar, if you hike around month of April, your journey will be full of gurans. I recommend to check weather before you hike and please carry umbrella or raincoat as there aren't many cottages but if it is just drizzling trees will be your umbrella😀. We had almost 7 hours total hike, as we reached shivapuri peak as well which is around 30-40 mins from Baghdwar. Overall, one day hike can't get better than this.

Very beautiful destination for a hike!! If you are planning to hike on a monsoon season make sure to carry extra pair of slippers and clothes!! Make sure to carry or apply insect repellent as well because as you ascend higher you can find too many insects and flies roaming around you which is way too irritating!!

Best hiking place near Kathmandu valley. If you can walk then it takes nearly 2:30-3:00 hours depending on your walk or average hiker and for first time or sometimer walker it takes 4hour to reach bagdwar. But the route is great to get with nature and natural air with peace. Saturday can be great day to walk along the route and take break for your work. (ps if you are looking for wow view then you won't get but if you find nature wow then you will be amazed)

Fantastic Hike to Bagdwar from Okhreni. We started our hike a few kilometers up from Okhreni, and it took us a little over 2 hours each way to get to the origin of Holly River Bagmati.

Baghdwar which is Located in the Northern part of Kathmandu valley, Shivapuri Narjun National Park lies about 12 Kilometer away from the center of capital city. The Shivapuri hill is the second highest hill near Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2563m. Nestled in the Shivapuri National Park, this sacred spot is believed to be the source of the revered Bagmati River. The serene surroundings, lush forests, and ancient temples create a tranquil ambiance for visitors seeking a spiritual retreat. The hike to Baghdwar offers a refreshing escape from city life and an opportunity to connect with nature and oneself. A must-visit for those in search of a unique blend of religious significance and breathtaking landscapes.

Amazing peaceful place. There will be checking in entrance so Donot take speakers and meat items. Wear comfortable shoe/track/trouser and take trekking stick compulsorily and also enough water for your hydration. And lastly Bring a few garbage bags and take your waste/garbage with you when you leave – don't dump your rubbish in the national park.

this place is very peaceful ,if you want to do any short hiking near by Kathmandu then Shivapuri is the best place that I highly recommend you can go to Nagigumba, after that you can go to baghdwar and shivapuri peak

It is known as origin place of bagmati river. It takes about 3 hours hike from Panimuhan near Budhanilkantha to reach there. Carry plenty food and water as no tea house are there in the trail.

One of the best Hiking trail near Kathmandu city. For Nature Lovers it's a Paradise with calm, peace, beautiful sounds of birds with fresh breeze. More than 200 yrs old tress with different kind of flora and fauna along with fresh water fountains makes journey worth full.

Beautiful journey along the nature. The trail passes through the dense jungle and birds chirping makes the walk more exciting. Occasionally one can get Chance to see monkeys swinging and fighting on the trees. Reaching baghdwar, the holy place which is source of Bagmati river, we can refresh ourselves with cold chilling water that comes along the tiger faced tap.

A very good hike, a relieving environment, far from the urbanization of KTM valley. Hiking was great but the expectation for the top of shivapuri was not met. The whole route would be great except for the peak point.
