Not sure why so highly rated. Go next door to Flock Hostel, their bar is actually open and has live music videos! I felt ripped off..they are the same cost of rooms if not cheaper, cleaner and safer as they have room keys. Manager is rude here

The location is fantastic too, with stores up and down the road and not too long a walk to Thamel markets and restaurants. Though crossing the road is a little tricky, just stay close to the locals and follow their lead. The selection for breakfast was so varied and the chef accepted requests. The breakfast area was bright, fresh and a delight to spend time in. The staff were more than happy to answer any questions regarding ingredients for your dietary requirements.

Very Bad Experience! First of all, if you are an Indian, then these people will not treat you well, these people will only talk to the foreigners well, after that you are not allowed to eat outside food and drink food. If you go to its restaurant, then the price of everything will be very high, if you want to drink, then its price is also 2 times 3 times, it is said that these people are looking for a great way to earn and secondly the price of this hostel room Very much you can get it cheap and better than that you will find lots of hostels in Kathmandu I would never recommend you to go to this Zostle kathmandu & Pokhara!

Price: I paid 750 Nepali Rupees to stay per night. It is 50 NPR to rent a towel. Best aspect of the hostel: The clean comfy beds and the cafe. The cafe has large tables which often requires guests to share, a great way to meet people. What could have been better?: I'd be really getting picky here but I would have loved some coffee/tea included in the price. Staff: Very friendly/helpful Dorm: very neat and clean, fresh sheets and a very comfortable mattress. Only four bunks to a room so I felt I had my space. Noise: The hostel is off a side street so it is away from the busy roads. The cafe gets a bit rowdy but the noise always fell at around 11pm. Temperature: AC included in the room, I think there is one star here alone. Heating is luxury here in Kathmandu. It is my second stay in a Zostel and I've really enjoyed both hostels equally.

The best hostel in town. The dorm is where Zostel steals it. With foreigners constantly changing. The place never gets too dull. The bunk beds all have their own reading light which won't disturb others. There is hot water 24*7. The food in the food court of Zostel is too good. Not satisfied with the local cuisine though. Nevertheless, you will enjoy your stay in Zostel for sure. The staffs are super friendly too.

Zostel is a great hostel located in the heart of Kathmandu. It's a great place to stay if you're looking for a budget-friendly option that's still clean and comfortable. The hostel has a variety of room types to choose from, including dorms and private rooms. The dorms are spacious and well-lit, and the private rooms are clean and cozy. The hostel also has a common area with a kitchen, a TV, and a games room. There's also a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city. The staff at Zostel are friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer any questions you have and help you plan your trip. The hostel also offers a variety of free activities, such as yoga room on the roof. Overall, Zostel is a great place to stay if you're looking for a budget-friendly and friendly hostel in Kathmandu. Here are some pros and cons of Zostel Kathmandu: Pros: -Clean and comfortable rooms -Friendly and helpful staff -Free activities -Great location Cons: -Can be noisy at times (neighbours) -Some rooms are small -No elevator Overall, I would definitely recommend Zostel Kathmandu to anyone looking for a budget-friendly and friendly hostel in Kathmandu.

The photos posted seems to be very old, now the place looks quite old and there is no common room as of now. Private room photos looks very nice but actually room is very small and give boxy feeling. Room’s window glass was broken and it was just like that. I don’t think that’s gonna fix soon. Staff and everyone was very helpful.

Decent all round experience. Second time staying. The service has dropped a little. Unfortunately we got a private room right next to the kitchen, the noise and smells filled our room during service hours!

Rooms are really great. We booked in 4 bed mix dorm. Compared to other zostels that you will find ind india, vibe is slightly low. Interms of room its really good!

Room was okay, overpriced for what it was and very hard beds. Hostel is nothing special. No ambience. I think there are other hotels that are much better.

Zostel Kathmandu is amazing. Everyone is very cooperative and all the services provided them were perfect. And also the food in their restaurant is super yummy. Overall if you are looking for a budget stay in Kathmandu... this is the best option you can go for.

The Reception Girl (short hair) is not friendly. She don't even greet and smile. There should be a friendly atmosphere at hostel. It's boring !

Not in the league of great hostels like the one at pokhara but decent enough. Soft bed and 24x7 hot water was awesome af. Common room is quite cozy at night. Have lunch at Roadhouse Cafe. Their pizzas are mouth watering and the best in nepal. Just ask for the pizza to be served on ceramic plate rather than aluminium one.

The hostel was very very comfortable and the staff was amazing, I was extremely sick and was taken care of really well. There’s no kitchen and the common area isn’t really maintained that well so if you’re thinking it’s social, nope.

We wanted to pick a safe bet and went for Zostel for a budget stay for few days of our stay - the location was thamel - it was good considering, there was peace and quiet and absolute commercial area in 5 mins walking distance - however, it's in a very small alley so we had to walk our luggage for some meters. The rooms were okay, beds were cozy, what was a let down were the bathrooms. They have GOT TO upgrade the tiles, the fittings - eventhough it's a hostel, we'd expect some more than basic amenities and cleanliness. There's a small cafe within the premises which was decent.

I will definitely suggest zostel to anyone who visits Kathmandu. Other than the beautiful and ancient Kathmandu. Zostel was a place I also liked. Great people, I made some friends as well. Overall great!!

Zostels are well known for best ever stays experience and this one make you believe. Free wifi available, well maintained, clean and hygienic rooms and dorms, also provide best quality food in their restaurants, parking is available, staff is very kind and helpful. Affordable and easy to reach. Try once and it will be memorable stay.

The place is just perfect for backpackers, afterall its Zostel and it definitely lives up to the hype. The dorms are reall clean and there is a sweet resto-bar attached to it which looks beautiful at night.

The best hostel in Kathmandu. Tops everything from food to rooms to servicing to a helpful and friendly staff. Couldn't have asked for a better deal.

  • 5/5 Abhijeet K. 1 year ago on Google
The Wifi is top notch, I attended all my work calls without any issue. Food is tasty, but slightly on the expensive side. You could go to Carpe diem, connected through the rooftop of Zostel and enjoy the same menu with a better view. Common room: You could hide a dead body there, it's more silent than a hospital room. I dare anyone to tune the guitar there, the strings go out of tune within seconds. The receptionists are helpful and happy to help you with providing any info.

I appreciated that the bathroom was in the room and the bed was super comfortable. I didnt like that the room was situated in the back, it must be closed to a generator or similar because during the night the noise was continuous and disturbing. The place is great, i would recommend it to others, just another room different from 304

The zostel is good, rooms were clean and all the things were available with bathrooms being clean but the zostel manager did not really get me a tour of the zostel with the cafe and all. Cafe has its own timing of opening up and closing, its not 24*7 open.

I liked everything except that the aunties that regularly clean the hostel always make disgusting sounds as if they want to spit but can't get the phlegm out of their throat. was staying in the common area and heard that alot. 🤮

Zostel Kathmandu is the perfect budget option which is also located in a lovely neighbourhood. It is clean and the café downstairs has good food and coffee. Most importantly, their receptionist Shree is simply awesome and helped make our stay even better.

So this is a bit of walk into the lanes but that is how the city is laid out in this area. The hostel is a house converted into a hostel in a very artisitc way. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which serves local food and I would suggest you to eat that food because that will probabaly be the best tasting food. There is a roof or lounge area where you can chill. Very neatly done. Pretty good to chill there as well. the staff is very helpful and you can book a taxi here for commute. They also have a hike booking office and I think pretty reliable and decent service.

Simple and friendly hotel. Rooms are not top level, but good enough. Staff was very helpful. Try also the Carpe Diem restaurant next door, very cozy in the evening

It was so strange to see that at this hostel some basic amenities like bucket and towel were not provided. You can't drink your own bought drinks(alcohol or non-alcoholic) at this place even the owner/cashier argued and was rude. The staff insisted heavily if you want drink anything you have to buy from us then only it is allowed and the costs of the Drinks are highly priced!

The stay was my first time at any Zostel and The experience I had at Zostel Kathmandu will remain with me for a very long time. The Property was excellent, clean & cozy at the same time. A special Shout out to the staff of Zostel Shree & others who'll make you feel right at home and would offer guidance and help at every instance. A must stay if you are visiting Kathmandu. I left with a heavy heart and a longing to comeback. Loved my time there!

Kathmandu Zostel is a nice and happy place with good vibes. It is located very near to the city's most happening place, Thamel. The female dorm is super cosy with comfortable and clean beds. The staffs here are welcoming and always helpful. The host Sree was very generous and cooperative. I truly enjoyed my stay in this Zostel.

Affordable guest house with beautiful views and awesome cafe. People are friendly and from reception to checkout they help you guide your stay and going that extra mile to bring smile at your face. I hope it gets better in terms of availability of spaces to work from there.

The rooms were clean. We were a group of three, so we took one private room and one dorm bed. It was spacious and clean with all the basic amenities. Host (Shree) was fun and friendly. She helped us with the what places would be best to visit. The location is also decent as you can get cabs as you get on the main road. There are good restaurants and cafes nearby. Would suggest to try our some local cuisine thupka... And try our few small shops to find the local taste.

Careful about this hostel. If you pay with credit card they will charge you an extra amount. Also you should not pay the room before you leave (this is not typical for hostels in nepal). Rooms are ok and clean, but because of the Bar+Restaurant (beside), your not allowed to bring drinks (like beer) to your room. During my stay there were not much others there and there was no community like i usually know from traveler (backpacker) hotels.

Experience is amazing. Lady at reception very helpful. Staff is super supportive. Bunk beds are also super amazing. Entire property is very clean. Vibes are also amazing. Amazing place for staying in Kathmandu. All places are nearby. Food is also great there in theri own cafe. So Really Happy to be there. Highly recommended.

Worst zostel I have ever stayed in. The reception desk woman was most unfriendly and cold, as if someone were forcing her to be manning the desk. These guys should really invest in a community manager, like many other zostels I've been to, to make the place something more than a cold, dead dormitory. Definitely never going back to this zostel again
