The location is great, not right on top of the centre but only a 5 min walk. The hostel is full of people and most want to meet new travelers. The bathrooms are not clean and there wasn't always hot water. The lockers were in a separate room to your dorm which I found a hassle as there wasn't much space in the room to leave your bag out. The rooftop terrace sold some tasty food though!

A very nice hostel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The food is also tasty, they are happy to accommodate your dietary requirements if needed. The price is also good, yes, there is cheaper hostel in kathmandu but not as nice as this one. Dorm rooms are basic but clean, with lockable storage under the bunk beds. I stayed in the dorm room as well as in their apartment and for the price I can't complain. The rooftop terrace is also very good place to socialise. Yes, there are better hostels in thamel but pricier too. I would recommend this one for the price, very very helpful staff, location.

This place is very good for young people traveling alone or in a group. You meet a lot of people. The rooms could be better. The bets are not that soft and the showers and the toilets are a little improvised. They are cleaned every day but the showers do not work every day. Water for drinking is not free but really cheap. 10 NPR for a liter (31 okt). If you love a nice bed go look somewhere else. Do you want to meet a lot of people. Than is this the place to be.

Hostel is named after a Sage who lived for 1000 years by following strict procedures. The hostel is in the heart of Kathmandu with shopping areas at walking distance. I stayed here while going for Everest Base Camp Trek. It is economical with good ambience. Has a rooftop restaurant with quotes written on walls by previous travellers. Good place hangaround and talk to fellow travellers when you are staying here. Had a great time. Would surely return in future.

It's very social place to meet other like minded cheap broke backpackers. Ages go from 18 to 42 on average. Cleaning is good, they offer also nice food, but the best is the personal working frontdesk, rooftop, and cleaning. Very good hearted. Rooms go from 300 to 600 Nepali rupees, and they have an amazing rooftop to make new friends. Recommend mostly for the social aspect.

The staff are very welcoming and the atmosphere is really nice to be in. The swimming pool is a huge plus and the location is perfect! Beds were comfortable and everything is clean. This hostel has everything it needs but I just wish it had air conditioning too. It has fans which work well but can be loud and not as effective. Apart from that, really good and I would recommend it to anyone!

Everything in the hostel looks brand new and renovated. So clean, comfortable, and cute! They have a beautiful pool area and outdoor seating for breakfast. Great location close to everything in Thamel, but tucked down a side street so it’s quiet and peaceful. Surpassed my expectations and highly recommend!

Greatest experience in Nepal, I stayed months the staff was always gentle the food was fine the location is just perfect the pool always clean the bed in dormitory was super fine, I had a problèm with an insect in my room there directly cleaning everything and provided product against, I mean the quality/price is just the best in kathmandu. They have a trake desk very honest too.

Great experience overall. Dorm beds are comfortable, we felt safe the entire time, toilets and showers are clean. Value for money is quite insane, 20 dollars a night between 3 people. They did not charge us for the 2 nights we were away even though our baggage was still taking up the beds. There's table football (a very good table) and air hockey available for all guests. There's a tour desk which got us a great 3day/2night full package tour at Chitwan national park for 120 dollars a person. Would 100% recommend this. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The manager (owner?) is great to talk with. Location is close to a lot of nice restaurants/cafes/bars/clubs. Would recommend this hostel to anyone who comes to Kathmandu.

I staid one night in a separate room, and a few more nights in a dorm at Alobar1000 in their new location in March and April 2023, and by the end most of the facilities under construction were in use. The rooms are clean, the beds are good, and the common showers had hot water. The personnel is very friendly and accommodating, and the hotel is located a good distance from the noise of the streetside. While I was there, there were few other guests and thus no scheduled events yet, but upon request they could organise some activities like a free tour of Thamel or Swayambhunath or an introduction to Nepali. The dorm beds were very cheap at 750 rupees a night, the single room, while excellent, was relatively expensive for Thamel standards at 26 euros a night. As points of constructive criticism, I would suggest some curtains for the dorm room, and some efforts be more silent in the early morning as the noise in the common parts of the ground floor is heard in the rooms the first floor.

Great hostel all around. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Has a few common areas including outdoor and indoor eating courtyards, and a pool! Good location in/ just next to Thamel - very accessible. Great value for money. Would stay here again :)

Had a great experience at this hostel this November. Location was great - easy to walk to everything in Thamel but tucked away enough to be quiet. Rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly and responsive - they also coordinated a day trip for us which was great. The food was also excellent and reasonably priced!

The rooftop is very nice and there is an interesting choice of food. Apart of that, the comfort is really rudimentary. The beds are not comfortable, and not balanced and make a big noise when moving, everything is very noisy, so for me it was almost impossible to sleep. That's why I put this grade, I left this hostel totally exhausted. Then the kitchen opens after 8 for breakfast which I find pretty late.

Really friendly staff that met any requests and were very helpful. Rooms were clean and accommodating for 9 of us. Bathrooms were great with hot showers that had lots of space. The restaurant downstairs provided great food and lots of options.

This place is the best. Super close to all the trekking stores and an easy ride from the airport. The staff are amazing, so friendly and generally helpful. There's even a pool! The place is quite clean and well taken care of and the food is also lovely. Can't recommend it enough.

Super friendly staff that continually offered advice and services to our group. Beds were comfortable and shower/bathroom facilities and the attached restaurant was great. The hostel is nice and tucked away which meant there was no noise from the streets of Thamel. Really great prices too. Only downside was the lack of curtains in the bedrooms which meant it was bright at night time.

We stayed at this hostel for a few nights. It's located down a short alley opposite the climbing gym. We stayed in a private room, which from memory was about 30-40aud a night. The room itself was comfortable and big enough. It had a little ready ledge(?) With pillows by the window, not a balcony as advertised - this didn't bother us though. The little reading area was quite nice. The bathroom wasnt too bad by the local standard. On our first stay it did have a bad smell to it, something like the faint smell of rotting vegetables. We guessed at this being the water. By our second stay, after our hike, we didn't notice the smell anymore. They have an underrated kitchen here. We got dinner here 3 or so times and each time was really good. Definitely batting about the average for their food, which was also reasonably priced.

This must be the best hostel in Thamel! Everything is within walking distance. The hostel itself has a great vibe, is quiet and the important… clean! The personnel must have been chosen after taking a kindness test! 😂 They are literally the best! And if you feel like hiking a bit, then talk to Umesh, a certified mountain guide, to take you safely everywhere! You’ll find him in a separate desk at the reception area, dedicated only for activities!

Me and ten traveler friends of mine stayed there. Comparing to the other hostels we stayed in Kathmandu, this one was the best. Especially if you are a solo traveler, I recommend. The common area is uniquely lovely. You can meet friends, sing, play music, dance, chat until the morning in the rooftop. We were sometimes even sleeping there!

The new location is awesome, quiet and central (Thamel). The hostel is brand new, has well equipped and clean bathrooms - good, hot showers as well ;) Also the beds are really comfy. Super helpful staff. And they have a swimming pool!! Best place to stay in Kathmandu! This hostel made the end of my trip really special.

For me it didn't felt like a hostel it felt more like a second home. The reception, the stuff & the owner were very friendly. The environment was great and most importantly they were very clean from top to bottom, hats off to that. I stayed there for 5 days with 5 people in one dorm. It's a little small for 5 people to stay at one room but manageable. Common washroom have hot water available all time, it doesn't have jet spray but at the pool washroom it does have jet spray, if someone can't manage with tissue paper.... The pool is great and very well lit at night. If I come to Nepal again I'm definitely gonna stay at Alobar 1000 again for sure.

The guys at the reception (Anna, army and the others) are super nice and help you out with whatever you need. If you have questions for the hikes or where to eat, they help you out easily. The rooftop is sick, really amazing and sometimes cold (depends on the time you are there). But the people you will meet there make it a warm cozy place. The bathrooms are very simple and the rooms also but you get what you pay for and that’s enough after or before hiking the Himalayas

The wonderful staff and owner helped plan and organise my trip start to finish. Affordable food, clean rooms and friendly people will make me come back to Alobar1000 again!

First of all, this hostel has a swimming pool! Secondly, I don't know how, but it's genuinely a pleasant and peaceful place where I practically forgot about insects in the rooms. And that's quite difficult to achieve because in countries with a similar climate, there are indeed many insects. So, special respect to the hotel staff for that. Speaking of the hotel staff, yes, it's a hostel, but you feel like you're in a premium-class hotel. The people are very polite and responsive! And the food... it's delicious! I don't eat spicy food, and in Nepal, everything is traditionally spicy. But if you ask, they will prepare your food according to your taste. In general, you will find a menu that suits your preferences. In terms of price, the hostel is just slightly more expensive than the cheap options, but believe me, it's worth it. Another bonus is that there are common areas on the ground floor and rooftop where you can sit and chat with other people. And speaking of the internet, they have a 50 Mbps download and upload speed! They have 5 GHz frequencies. And believe me, the internet here is very good. Of course, during peak hours in the evening when everyone is connecting to the internet, the speed drops a bit. But overall, it's sufficient for watching online videos and, most importantly, having Zoom calls. In conclusion, I highly recommend the ALOBAR1000 hostel. You can also organize mountain tours and book trekking there.

Alobar 1000 Next to Thamel, really cool place to stay, nice area and good location. Backpackerd hostel. Great vibes, good music, friendly people there, nice common areas and rooftop. We missed a closed area where the cold didn’t get it. Good food on the bar upstairs and the double room with bathroom included was super cleaned and comfortable. We stayed in a 8 shared room too and there wasn’t lockers inside the room for putting all your staff. As we stayed in Alobar 1000 we could arrange our trekking to Mardi Himal with the company linked to them (dal bhat power adventures) and we had a very good experience and they did a discount as we stayed in Alobar.

I really like this hostel because their staff is very friendly, the location is excellent, and with swimming pool. it's not too noisy at night, and overall, I recommend it to everyone. And one more thing When I was sick, they provided me with medication, and they were very kind.
