I spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed it. The hostel is quite tall (4 floors) and there are terraces with tables and chairs on each floor making for great sun spots and views across Kathmandu. The staff are lovely and even took the trouble to knock on my door to check I was awake and ready for my early flight. The location is great and close to many nice shops and bars.

Elbrus Home really is THE place to stay here. Khem is the very friendly owner of the place and always wants the best for you. He helped us get a very competent guide for the unforgettable Annapurna Circuit we completed and we could store our luggage for free during our absence. The rooms are very clean and the hostel itself has a very cute garden where you can chill out. Breakfast is included and very delicious. You'll be very happy to stay here!

The rooms are very basic, shower is ok but not the cleanest. The road right next to it is pretty loud. The whole hostel needs a bit of renovation work, the breakfast is eggs and toast with buttter and jam with Nescafé.

I stayed at Elbrus home at the beginning of my journey and it was fabulous! The staff is so nice and accommodating, really going out of the way to ensure your comfort. I am traveling solo, and I felt like I always had a go to resource if something were to happen. I got the private room for probably the best rate in kathmandu! There’s no ac but they brought me a fan and I was perfect. I did some work in the common area and they always brought me tea and coffee. The free breakfast is delicious, the bed is cozy, the staff is friendly, and they offer tourist bookings at the hostel! What more could you ask for?! Will be returning to this hostel at the end of my trip.

Nice, cheap place to stay including breakfast Rooms where nice, thick matras, hot shower, nice owner and good service. Reason for not giving 5 stars is the noise because is next to a road, why do local people always use the horn so much. Secondly there is not really a nice chill area inside, only a room with a couple of couches and TV next to the reception . This time of a year it is raining a lot and would be nice if there is a place everybody can chill and not just sit in there rooms.

We booked a double bed delux room in Elbrus homes for a night and the owner moved us to some different hotel (except nothing was good there) saying it is the same. We faced some discrimination towards Indians which was not at all accepted since we are also tourist and have a great experince of staying in different hostels in different countries.

I loved this hostel so much that I stayed here for almost my entire time in Kathmandu. Khem and his staff offer a level of hospitality that leave nothing lacking at this hostel. The breakfast in the morning is great and the beds are comfy. I would definitely recommend

The most perfect location for any backpacker passing through Kathmandu. A 5 minute walk from the buzzing Thamel, but quiet enough for a good night's sleep and a relaxing break from sightseeing. Complimentary breakfast was really sufficient and delivered by the most caring, funny and attentive staff. Nothing was ever a problem, and Khem and his team made sure we had everything we needed for safe and interesting travels. I can recommend to anyone staying in KTM, will definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing hostel. Relaxed, fast internet (over 70mbps), hot showers, comfortable beds. It’s about 5 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of thamel centre - definitely a good thing. The man that runs it goes out of his way to help you. Easy to get washing done (ready the same day) and the breakfast is nice and filling (included). Don’t hesitate and just book this place.

We stayed at Elbrus Katmandu for couple of nights. In the busy city this place is like an oasis because of its lovely garden where you can chill, read a book or plan your next adventure. The owner is super caring and he helped us with everything we needed to find our way around Nepal. Breakfast was big and fulfilling and the area is quite calm. We stored our language when doing the Annapurna circuit and it was free of charge as well a shower after a long day (we checked out un the morning). The energy of the owner is so nice, it is a perfect place if you want to feel like home. They even have a family room with a tv :)

I had a great experience here with Khem and LB Rai. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Daily free breakfast is delicious. Trekking with LB Rai through Langtang Valley was an absolute pleasure. And the concierge service is impeccable. Anything from booking a bus ticket to finding the best shop or moneychanger. Highly recommend Elbrus home

Overall a good hostel. My negatives are the place could be kept a little cleaner, sweeping and mopping was lacking. Other than that it’s affordable and friendly

Very nice and great value place with excellent service. Khem is very kind and knowledgeable and helped arrange our transportation for our trek. Highly recommend to anybody staying in Kathmandu.

Pros: - Excellent wifi - Clean (as clean as a budget hotel can be, don't come with high expectations) - Nice staff - Decent breakfast (ala carte eggs, toast, nescafe) - Okay if you wanna stay a night or max 2 Cons: - Supremely terrible beds (walking around Kathmandu with a bad back is the worst possible thing you could do to yourself) - Ill-placed ceiling fan (one tiny fan in a room with two double beds that only spreads air to one bit of the room. no idea what was the plan when this fan was being installed) - Mosquitos (all windows have nets, but they still seem to be everywhere in the rooms) - On a noisy road (loud road that sleeps late and wakes up at the crack of dawn, but that's Kathmandu for you)

Great place to unwind before and after trekking. Nice hot showers to refresh yourself. Khem went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, an excellent host.

I stayed here for almost a week. The room was spacious and clean. Included in the stay is a simple but great breakfast (eggs, toast, banana, tea and juice) and water refills. Water is hot and good pressure which can be hard to find in Nepal. The host, Khem, was really friendly and helpful. Really great value stay.

I stayed here twice in my month in Nepal. It’s ideal location for thamel just 5 minutes down the road from the hustle and bustle. The staff are so funny friendly and kind and will help you book treks/ buses/ anything. The breakfast does the job, and the eggs are always perfect. The dorm was fine, comfy bed and a clean towel to shower with too! There’s free drinking water and a proper hot shower! We loved it here the roof tops were amazing to hang out and the garden is so lush. Thanks again x

This was my first accommodation in KTM. The Staff was super friendly, helpful, gave us a lot of information and they were just very kind - the “not just after the money” type of. Location is great because you’re 5/10’ from the busy Thamel area, but you feel like “home” in a quieter area, with garden, breakfast and rooftop. Nice to meet people coming and going from trekking. Free water refill station for a plastic free attempt in Nepal. Would and will stay again.

We stayed several days in Khem's wonderful hostel. The service was great because everytime we went hiking we could leave some luggage there for free. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the breakfeast offered a lot and the location is near the city centre.

Best hostel in all of Nepal. Quiet pretty social and yummy free breakfast. Staff so kind and helpful

The owner/guy at the reception was rude and uncouth. Made it a point to make fun of the fact that I paid 850 nepali rupees from the airport ( my first time in Nepal and I had dropped them an email about airport transfer that they never bothered responding. ). Also, when I tried asking them about advice was dismissed offhandedly. He made it a point to let me know that he won't allow me back with girls or drunk ( that's what indians do apparently, according to him) Later in the night he was himself drunk AF with a mate and calling out slurs. The irony. Coming to the room, I paid around 1700 nepali rupees for a single twin ensuite room..the windows were flimsy and there was no reliable plug point. I didn't feel safe leaving my stuff in there. The room reeked of mold bleach and old socks. It was dusty and somewhat dirty. The toilet wouldn't flush properly. Although I booked for two days, I checked out in a day. Have to give them that, they were nice enough to charge me only for one day. Also, the breakfast was spot on. Especially since it was complimentary. Overall id say with a little bit of tlc, it can be a decent homely place. But nowhere it deserves the 9,4 star it has on hostelworld.

The staff members are friendly and helpful. Besides, the room I where I stayed with my family was clean and well lit. The terrace added to its charm. The rates are reasonable as well. You can consider staying at Elbrus Home without any second thoughts when you visit Kathmandu.

My favorite hostel in Kathmandu!! Beds were very comfortable and the complimentary breakfast is an amazing start to each day. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping us book bus tickets, luggage, and laundry. Greatly located in Thamel, only a block away from the best shopping and cafes in that part of the city. Will stay again when I am back in KTM.

No need to look for another place to stay in Kathmandu ! This is the perfect place ! Big room, confortable beds, hot shower, big breakfast, peaceful garden in the middle in KTM, 2 mins walk to Thamel .... And finally : Khem, the owner, the best you can find. He is helpful, professional, and really friendly. Thank you again for all you did for us 😊🙏🏼

Probably the best host you can get in Nepal. Super helpful and will do everything to support you. Very safe and welcoming with a good breakfast. Everything you need is just 10 mins away.

This hostel is the perfect stay in Kathmandu for adventureus travelers. You meet friendly people, the staff takes care of you and help you and the facilities gives you comfortable stay. The manager has run this for so many years, he takes care of all guests.

The perfect place to stay in Kathmandu. There are so many good things about elbrus home, it would be to long to mention all. So here just two of them: great breakfast in a beautiful garden, super nice and funny owner who helps with everthing. I will come back for sure! Looking forward.

Great Location in Kathmandu with nice and clean rooms and a lovely garden where you can relax after a day in the city. Khem, the host, is extremly helpful and welcoming. And we also enjoyed the delicious and freshly prepared Breakfast.

Everything was perfect during our stay in this hostel! Khem and his team have an amazing sense of hospitality, he helped us to book our bus, the laundry, and even came with us to the bus station. Always in a good mood as well. The breakfast is really good (mango juice, tea or coffee, banana, toasts and butter or jam or honey). The room is pretty spacious with a balcony and hot water. The rooftop gives you a great view for the sunrise and sunset. Perfect place to meet backpackers from around the world!

I had a wonderful and peaceful stay at Hotel Elbrus. Khem and his team were super accommodating and kind. The breakfast is delicious and my room was super clean with plenty of space. Elbrus rooftop views are some of the best in Kathmandu! Elbrus is a little oasis tucked away from the busyness of Kathmandu. Would definitely recommend to long-term and short-term travelers.

Very good hostel! Beautiful outdoors area with a tasty breakfast! Khem along with the other staff member were very kind and welcoming. I stayed in a private room with air conditioning. The beds were super comfortable! The shower was hot and cleanliness was okay.

We absolutely loved Elbrus home !!! It was our first time in Nepal and the host Kem made sure to help us w any directions or planning and made us feel super comfortable and safe the whole time ! We came back to him a few weeks later at the end of our trip and again he went above and beyond to make sure we were happy ! The rooms are so lovely and the roof top has amazing views! Could not recommend this place enough, definitely stay there if in Kathmandu ! Even after 4 months of travelling, this has been one of my favourite places I’ve stayed!

Incredible place to stay before you head out on your trek. The guy who runs it also can help you booking anything you need for the trek. On my checkout date, I was running late for my bus and he personally drove me on his motorcycle. The staff is incredible and the place is conveniently located around everything. Would highly recommend.

Overall, we really liked our stay there (stayed here twice). Great value for money, and the stay includes very decent breakfast. Very close to the thamel but not inside it, so it's peaceful and quiet.

  • 5/5 josh l. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty central area of thamel not too noisy but never quite. The building is quite big with high quite high views of the surrounding area and some mountains in the distance. The owner is helpful. My room was clean and the shared bathroom wasn’t too bad either. Breakfast was fine, it sets you up for the day. Garden is nice and good to meet people in. I would go back.

The hostel owner was pretty pretty kind and helpful. However, there wasn't air conditioning (something you'd appreciate seeing the heat at nights). Appart from that, the location is nice and so was our stay.

I recently spent a week at the Elbrus Hostel and was very happy with my experience. I had a cancelled flight and visa issues so I needed to spend another week in Kathmandu. Khem was very hospitable and gave me lots of activities to fill up my week, he arranged a lovely hostel and Safari in Chitwan for me which I am extremely greatful for. Would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone travelling to Nepal, great people, great rooms and overall a great experience.

I had a really nice stay in Elbrus Home! I spent some more time in Kathmandu and was very happy to have a rather big, clean and light room with even a desk provided. The hostel allows you to either do your own things and spend some time alone on any of the roof top balconies or the garden, but if you feel like talking to some other people and sharing some time together, there are plenty of spaces to do so as well. Khem and his staff are all really nice and try their absolute best to help everybody with whatever plans they have for their stay in Kathmandu and Nepal. The location is ideal to be not fully in the middle of Kathmandu's tourist district Thamel, but to have it still in very close reach. The included breakfast is also nice and there are some good spots for nice food quite near as well. I definitely recommend coming here and will come back myself :)

  • 5/5 Manan L. 1 year ago on Google
A wonderful place to stay. The facilities are simple, the location is close to all of Kathmandu's active spots, and the staff are incredibly warm and friendly. Khem truly treats you like a family member. Only negative is I came during a low season so I didn't meet many other people, but that's not the hostel's fault. That aside, highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Fanny L. 1 year ago on Google
I had a great time at Elbrus home! It’s simple, but definitely value for money. It is a typical hostel, but it gives a little more. I came without any plans or ideas, and Khem and his team truly made my stay in Kathmandu great. Would most likely stay here again if I’m lucky enough to return to Kathmandu!

  • 5/5 Aavgeen S. 1 year ago on Google
Khemraj is a really nice host. Very supportive and compassionate. Had a bunch of good conversations too. Rooms are good but can use privacy curtains. Close to main thamel market. Staff is super nice and helpful. Won’t recommend for people who like party kinda vibes. This is more of a read your book under the sun and relax kind of place.

  • 5/5 Einar Enerskog O. 11 months ago on Google
Absolutely amazing hostel. No complaints at all. Staff helped me with organising all kinds of things from taxis to buses to laundry and everything seamlessly. A great breakfast is included for a very reasonable price per night. Khim, the owner, is such a nice and helpful guy.
