I stayed here 10 years ago and rated AGH 5 stars but this time was disappointed to see how run down it is. I chose a super deluxe room but there were so many issues - loose fitting electrical sockets where my charger kept falling out, bedside lamp switch sparking and fizzing when touched, lose tap fittings not properly attached to the wall or porcelain and wobbling around, shower head not able to be fixed to wall and having to be hand-held, a/c remote not responsive… when I told reception they said they’d fix the problems but I was only staying one night so no use to me. They also said they’re about to knock down the building and build a new one, so I can’t see them bothering to make repairs . It’s a shame as it has so much character and charm, the staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. Maybe I was just unlucky in which case avoid room 304!

I stayed here for five days, and it was wonderful! Great location in Thamel. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious, and the service here is five stars! The outside area is very peaceful. I would definitely recommend staying here!

I don't know why this hotel has such a high rating. The room was rather small, the restroom was small and very dated. The towels were very good, as was wifi. I liked the restaurant although after adding service charge and vat what once seemed cheap no longer did. The two cats were nice as we're staff.

A haven in the middle of bustling Thamel. Heritage building, super friendly staff, good value for money

The only inn we stay in thamel. Location, hotel and room quality, staff is great. Aesthetics is outstanding. Never ate lunch or dinner. Breakfast and coffee is high class. Now this hotel is on a walking street which is a great thing to happen. However Get ready to walk few minutes with bags to reach the hotel.

The ambiance of this place is striking. As soon as we saw our cosy room with its rococo brass padlock on the double door, we were entranced, and promptly booked for an extended stay. We took advantage of their activity booking service and spent a lovely day hiking near Nagarkot, and another enchanted morning flying to the Himalayan range. Breakfast is included, and it's very hearty; the Nepalese coffee (served in French presses) is divine.

Very nice hotel with a rustic 1970 British explorer feel to it Every thing looks clean and proper. Staff is helpful and accommodating (I would say more so then even top hotel Brand’s like Marriott) Accommodates guest late checkout due to flight time is a huge huge plus However have to minus 1 star from rating as there are cockroaches in the bathroom and reception can’t be reach after hours

Such a wonderful place! We stayed for 3 nights, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, the staff is lovely, professional and welcoming, always with genuine smiles on their faces . The location in the Thamel is just perfect. We kept our luggage there while trekking and felt very safe. Oh, and the breakfast is delicious! Thank you guys from Jenny and Alon 🙏 Highly recommended 👌

Fantastic boutique hotel, stayed in the premium room ( nearly double the price of a similarly serviced smaller room) Hot shower, good cooked breakfast, impressive staff. Walk out the front door and you are 10m from busy Thamel. Room 204 get the noise of the cafe next door setting up at 6.00am but apart from that it a very quiet place . Bickie has worked there for decades and is what hospitality is all about. Good wifi, antiques throughout. Some restaurant meals lack a bit.

This is one of those places you discover and feel like your the first in the world ! The property has character at every turn and it’s a perfect place to be based in the vibrant city of Kathmandu. The breakfast sets you up perfectly for the day of exploring ! The manager and team have hospitality in there bones ! Much respect Gavin on

One of the worst accommodation, i never seen in my life. Inadvertently, i booked this on 5.11.23 assuming that this is Ambassador hotel, Kathmandu, by mistake. Not even worth of 500NPR/day. Too much of noise in the night and very poor breakfast. Very poor lighting in the room. You need to serve yourself for carrying water bottles etc. Horrible experience. Pl avoid.
