The service was very great at this place and the owner Mausam was so helpful and generous along with other staff members (Santosh). Each and everyone at this property was nice and didn't do any less to make us feel like home. I visited Kathmandu with my family and stayed there for 2 nights. My family had a good time. I don't know where to start.probaly the worst experience of my life.we arrived at Katmandu at 8 at night and went to Gurung's home, which I booked through Agoda, they said they canceled our booking.we had 3 girls with us.The Hotel is bare minimum. No Fan/AC, the toilet is disgusting.But I gave them 2 stars as they gave us, they gave us 2 twin beds and an extra mattress to sleep on.Overall not recommend for any one traveling with family, not at all recommend.

This beautiful place at Gurung's Home was the start of my Nepal trip and I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else! The boys were adorable and friendly, and also extremely enthusiastic to help me. The owner helped me to arrange a jeep to Chame and one of the staff drove me to the jeep stand. Everything was settled for me. Breakfast was simple but plentiful and satisfying. When Kathmandu had a storm, electricity was out but the staff were very enthusiastic to send candles to every room to make sure they had light in the rooms! They were also still cooking meals in the dark with positivity and smiles everywhere. Thank you!

Stay here is like to be in family. The owner is very helpful and will give you everything you need. There is a nice outside space where you can have breakfast/lunch/dinner or relax reading a book. I was looking for an outdoor experience and I find out the perfect one for me thanks the owner! You can book trekking, city tour, flights and busses. Also the food is amazing! What else do you need?

It’s owned by two brothers. They are very caring and being a solo female traveller I felt very safe. The place is calm and quiet with a very homely vibe. Walkable distance to Thamel

Excellent place! Quiet part of town if you wanna escape it but not too far off from thamel. Less than 10min walk. KTM is also safe to walk around at night even if you are solo female. They are very accommodating, helping me change currency etc. Rooms are pretty decent and warm (for the chilly nights). Hot showers. Overall, value for money stay!

Nice place to stay for a night. They have very nice garden and Outlook atmosphere is very claiming. Rooms are small but nicely decorated. Staffs are friendly and you can order your dinner or lunch and order it to your room also.

Have stayed for two nights and felt welcomed! Guys run family business and treat each guest with help, dignity and respect. Loved that hosts were always available around and could help with trekking tips. Breakfast was so worth to have, yammi! May stay on the road back home again, Christina

Great hostel with nice people running it. The private rooms are spatious and clean and the beds are super comfortable. Close to Thamel touristic hub but in a neighborhood where you can still enjoy the local vibe. Breakfast is also of good value.

Me and my Wife had a very nice stay her in Offseason! The breakfast was really good as well and they helped us getting Taxis or a Turistbus. We’ll be back before our flight home from Kathmandu.

Nach einer anstrengenden 30-stündigen Reise waren wir mehr als erleichtert, auf ein derart angenehmes Hotelpersonal zu stoßen. Das Team war äußerst zuvorkommend, hilfsbereit und diskret ; eine perfekte Kombination, um sich sofort wie zu Hause zu fühlen. Unser Zimmer war makellos sauber und bot ein äußerst bequemes Doppelbett. Das Badezimmer und die Dusche waren ebenfalls einwandfrei und das kostenlose Wasser, das wir jederzeit an der Rezeption holen konnten, war ein weiteres Plus. Die Lage des Hotels war für uns perfekt, da es sich in einem ruhigen Bereich der Großstadt befand, aber dennoch nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß von Thamel entfernt war, wo man das abendliche Treiben genießen konnte. Das Hotel konnte uns bei allem, was wir brauchten, weiterhelfen - sei es Informationen zu Taxis, Wanderungen, weiteren Reisen oder leckerem Essen. Auch Sim-Karten/Handy-Service, Wäscheservice und kostenloses WLAN waren vorhanden. Wir hatten sogar die Möglichkeit, unser Gepäck dort zwischenzulagern, was für uns sehr praktisch war. Angesichts all dieser Annehmlichkeiten und des familiären Umgangs fiel es uns am Ende schwer, Abschied zu nehmen.

Nice place to stay out of the hustle zone of Thamel yet within comfortable walking distance. Comfortable accommodation and a good cook. Also a one stop shop for everything in Nepal - buses, trekking etc

The location is beautifully decorated, and close to thamel by walking but also very quiet. The rooms are very comfy with good beds and toilets, and the staff are so friendly and helpful - even waking up at 4am for us when we had to leave early! The food is also very good! I left my bag here while trekking as well which was very helpful.

For being in the centre of Kathmandu it’s so quiet and peaceful! Away from road noise, also very green and alive. Great hosts, that are funny and very welcoming. Also very good beds and washrooms. Stay in both the dorm and family room also left my luggage here while i did a 7 day trek! A huge gem in Kathmandu

Really nice place - you should stay here. Really lovely service, nice beds, nice bathroom and good food. It’s a quiet area, so next to thamel, but you can have a comfortable spot here and chill from the outside stress.

Gurung’s Home feels like home. It’s a pleasant reprieve from the bustling streets of Kathmandu, but still accessible to all that the city has to offer. Everyone here has been extremely friendly and accommodating. My room was clean and comfortable and the mattress is soft and cozy. Also, the food from their kitchen is tasty. I will definitely stay here again the next time I return to Nepal. Namaste 🙏🏼

Best hostel I've been in a long time. Close to Thamel and also monkey temple and Buddha park. Good food, great staff, price is cheap for the dorm and the double rooms are exceptional, reasonable price for sharing but a bit expensive for solo backpackers.

Great place, great rooms, very friendly & respectful staffs & budget friendly. However TV was not working & i was facing some issues in washroom (not getting hot water). The only reason I’m writing this review is if you’re going there in your own vehicle like bike, scooter please be very careful because when we checked out from the hotel someone just cut the seat cover of my scooter. not just ones but twice so be careful if you’re going there in your own vehicle. Overall place is good fully recommended from my side

We felt glad as soon as we landed here. Beautiful space and ambience, a green and quiet oasis in Kathmandu. Santosh and team are very helpful and forthcoming with friendly open chats. Learnt a lot. We had the deluxe room and loved the sun in the morning on the balcony to warm up. Exceptionally clean throughout, comfy bed and toasty hot water shower. There is a filling veggie breakfast, free water and yummy meals on demand. They organised us an airport taxi and bus to Pokarah, even a lemon honey tea when getting run down. We look forward to staying again.

I stayed here in November 2023 and really enjoyed it. The family who runs it is very kind and makes you feel at home. It was easy to meet other travelers and build connection because the dining / hangout space is very small so everyone interacts. They provide great tea, breakfast, laundry, and activity booking services

Gurung's Home is a welcome sanctuary in the chaos of Kathmandu. We were well cared for by the staff, who were highly motivated, professional, and caring. The food here was good and meant we could stay in for more rest. The grounds and garden were constantly maintained and cleaned. Bottled water and hot beverages were complimentary, and a thoughtful addition, which made us feel at home. We stayed 7 nights in total. Thanks to Mr Santosh, Rijan, Rohan, and Gurung.

All the time the owner and his staff were very friendly and attentive. If we had a question or needed help, they were always supporting us. Gurung's Home has a cozy atmosphere and you feel like at home. The whole area is very clean and in a good condition. It is really quiet in comparison to other hotels in the city, because of the favorable location within a backstreet. Recommendable! Btw. The Kitchen is also very good, especially the breakfast.

This is a newly built hotel and everything is clean, neat and absolutely comfortable. It is located in quiet neighborhood but 10min walking distance to the vibrant Thamel town. Host is very friendly and give us plenty of tip or advice. Breakfast is delicious and filling.

Gurungs home really feels like home! Its away from tamel mess, close by to walk everywhere and still quiet to chill at the beautiful garden.. the crew is great and help you with everything you need..i ate there most of the time, they have great food.. The room is another level, super clean with hot shower in all times… the bed ia amazing… i love this place and definitely recommend it to all who want to come to ktm and enjoy at a homey place…

They are a great host. The food was so good, especially the breakfast. The staff is so helpful. We were two girls travelling from India for the 1st time in Nepal. They helped us to know the place. I had the advantage of knowing the local language, so they were also suitable for chit-chatting while having breakfast. The Interior of the place was too good and creative. It is highly recommended.

Can't emphasize enough how great the staff are at this place. Heads and shoulders above anywhere else I stayed in Nepal. The rooms are also really nice, clean with a proper bedroom and good A/C or a fan. Quiet location that's only a 10 minute walk from Thamel. Cannot reccommend it enough! Owner couldn't get a taxi for us in the pouring rain so he drove us to the restaurant in his own car – that's the level of service we're talking about
