One of the iconic beauty of Basantapur Durbar Square. The building was built then by Rana Prime Minister being inspired from British Building.

Went inside the place and was amazed by all the stuff the past people had built. It’s always a pleasure to look at our historical landmarks.

Gaddi Baithak is a neoclassical palace & It was built by then prime minister Chandra Shumsher JBR in 1908 AD, and it was used for coronations and to welcome heads of states from other countries. Today Gaddi Baithak is used only for special occasions.

One of the historically/politically important establishment of the the 19th century. Interesting to see the history of Nepal portrayed in images and stories throughout the years in the buildings basement.

Built by Rana prime minister Chandra Shumsher in neo-classical architecture after his visit to Europe. The baithak (meeting room) was used for coronations and state visits.

Gaddi Baithak was a neoclassical building from which Nepal’s kings once ruled and settled the affairs of the country – hence its name, which means Royal Seat. The structure was built in 1908 AD by Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher, followed by the European architectural design. It was also the place where important foreign guests like ambassadors were welcomed by the king. In modern days, Gaddi Baithak is the part of Kathmandu Durbar Square which is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Architecture is good No historic elucidation or explanation though the literature spread is boring. Audio visual explanation was a dampner

It is even more beautiful from inside but we public dont have access to many places which made me quite upset. Great place for tourists who want to know more about Nepal's history. Nepali people can visit for pictures. Tiktok is banned here.

A museum with nothing much to see, most of it only consists of history in written format and photos about those. If You wish to learn about Nepal's certain history, then this place is recommended, plus it is included in your entry fee to the durbar square, so try not to miss it anyway.

Overall Average. A 50rs ticket to explore the great meeting hall with some close eye visions of antique arms and weapons under the basement of the meeting hall was quite amazing to explore. A finishing touch for the visitors with the knowledge about the history from around 1600BS to today was something more educational as well as interesting.

You can enter with the NPR150 ticket for the durbar square. It’s a place with historic significance - a place where they used to host delegates in the past. Has some beautiful halls and nice artifacts. People who like history will find some value here. Some renovation work is also going on. Decent place, but they should consider having some public toilet here

Gaddi Baithak reconstruction was fully restored on 26 June 2018 that was damaged by 7.8-M earthquake in April 2015. Dozens of architectural buildings and historic sites were destroyed while killed thousands during this massive earthquake. It has affected a lot in the tourism industry regarding the cultural heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. Gaddi Baithak lies in the Basantapur surrounded by many Hindu and Buddhist temples. Most of the citizens and tourists gather around this place as the best hub in Kathmandu. On the other hand, Gaddi Baithak highlights its important structure of mythical, historical and cultural significance of heritage sites. Hence, this area is best suitable for Kathmandu valley sightseeing.

This modern style palace must have been a queer sight on the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Now it is still ruined by the 2015 earthquake and in restoration.
