The ancient temple of the Lord Shiva in the form of The Kirantesowra Shiva Lingum is housed atop a mountain above the holy banks of the Bagmati river beside across the Gaurighat. This temple is very ancient and unique as it is open to all. Its a temple without a closed roof and it beholds a great significance and history. Located on the Northern sides of the Mrigasthali Forest the Kiranteswora Shiva Temple also holds a Classical style Music Concert every Full Moon Day and has seen over 200 Full Moon Episodes. Renowned Music Artists from Nepal and Abroad perform on the stage as a sacred homage to Lord Shiva who also happens to be the patron deity of Music and Arts and thus it receives overwhelming number of music loving spectators and sadhakas of the Classical music appraise the efforts of this Music Centre for its key role in preserving and promoting the Nepalese Classical Music in todays Modernized Period . And the great thing is Entrance is free, everyone is welcome to the Kiranteswora temple.. A must visit place, atleast once in a lifetime or during the Holy month of Magh ( Jan- Feb ) according to the Skanda Purana..
