Admired by the hotel. Spirit of ancient Nepal is there everywhere. the service is not the best I have seen, but the building and the location are winning. Coming here all the time I am in Kathmandu

Gorgeous building, very disappointing rooms, lacking every hotel basic. No safe, no TV, no coffee/tea kettle in the room, subpar beds. The room we stayed in had no air-conditioning, instead it had an awful, super noisy (like a jet taking off) oscillating fan. We were ok for two nights we stayed there before the trek, but longer stay wouldn't be enjoyable. The hotel staff are very friendly, but that doesn't make up for the uncomfortable room.

A quiet haven. Beautiful hotel located in center city with lots of shops and restaurants near by. Classical architecture and green philosophy makes for a relaxing stay. Food at dinner was a little bit bland but well intended. Breakfast is expensive for the quality and quantity of the offering. No a/c in room, plan your stay accordingly. Wifi in room efficient.

Nicely situated in Thamel, this traditional building hosts a very original and comfortable hotel. The restaurant is for me a must-try as it serves the best of many countries food, in a very relaxing atmosphere.

Positives: 1. Beautiful architecture, building, decor 2. Helpful staff. 3. Clean property 4. Excellent location. Close to thamel tourist area but still peaceful Negatives: 1. Power sockets are not functional. Only two worked of which one was connected to room heater. And room heater could not be connected to any other sockets. It was extremely problematic to charge phones/power banks or use hair dryer or straightener 2. The heater is in such a place that if moved, it disconnects. Thus it needed to be placed on floor and not above and thus it could not provide any heat and night was extremely cold 3. The router for room wifi was connected to a power socket that did not work. So, we had to rely on reception wifi from our room. 4. They have electric bed heater but no power sockets to connect the bed heaters for the heaters to actually work. What is the purpose of the bed heaters I wonder! Please note, it was 6 degrees in Kathmandu 5. The floor is made of a material that keeps the floor extremely cold. But no slippers are provided in room for guests. 6. There were brass utensils in room but no water in them. As it was late in night, we did not ask for water. But, we asked in the morning. But, we were still not given water. I had to go outside and buy water. What kind of hotels do not provide water? 7. The water heater/ geyser in washroom is supposed to work. But it did not. Neither it worked at night nor in morning. 8. The washroom is very dimly lit. It is small and it looks old. 9. The washroom toilet has no bidet/hand shower Overall, this does not offer the value for the price it charges. There are plenty properties in Kathmandu offering much better value at lower price. I have stayed at many eco friendly places throughout the world and I have not seen any place that does not offer drinking water in the name of eco friendliness or that does not have any functioning power sockets. They may not have power sockets. But, if they have it, that should function. Power sockets are not decor pieces.

Great Place. Rooms with Nepalese style. Eco-friendly hotel. Managers and employees are helpful. They gave me instructions to buy a Nepalese sim card and adviced me a good massage parlour.

The quality may not be great, but they offer free Wi-Fi. The food was decent. I stayed in a room that had a view of the courtyard. It is located in the city, so it has good access to various places. The price and service seem to be reasonable."

Great authentic place with very nice staff, excellent service, and temple design. The only 2 downsides in the rooms are that the lights are dim and the few electricity plugs are loose (they don't work well). Located in the middle of Thamrl close to the market and everything.

Beautiful temple style house🤩. The room stayed lovely and cool which I guess helps in the heat of summer but they warm you up with a heated blanket and hot water bottles in the winter months. Great location and we found the restaurant did a great thali and delicious food.

Amazing hotel - we stayed at 7 on our ten day trip and this is tied for top place for us. It’s an incredible building with spacious rooms and the staff were excellent.

Traditional little gem. Clean and eco friendly. Staff are wonderful and so lovely. Helped me with places to see and booked me transport with a warm smile. This was one of the first hotels that actually lived up to profile since I started travelling this year. Location was perfect to wander around on feet.

Such a beautiful hotel with the old-age look. Completely eco-friendly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner was so sweet to welcome our family to the hotel. A must-stay place in Kathmandu who are looking for something different.

As it is a traditional hotel, they don't have elevator, TV and AC, as well as they don't have hand shower system too. So I felt hot and gave me a table fan and it is okay for me. Very simple breakfast they offer, but foods are good. Services are wonderful.

Great meal in the restaurant - we did not stay in house. Meal was very traditional, tasty and well executed. Decor very traditional in an outstanding authentic building. Staff was extremely helpful and attentive- the beverage list could list the actual items interest of red wine, white wine or premium whisky- that would be an easy improvement

Great and calming place to stay in Kathmandu. The service was excellent; we didn't know much about Kathmandu, but they helped us decide ons wonderful way to spend the day. The rooms are very nice and roomy. We stayed in two different rooms because we were there twice, and one was significantly darker than the other, making it difficult to navigate the space.

The hotel is lovely! Amazing building located in the heart of Thamel. The rooms are comfortable, they have a very nice breakfast and activities in the hotel you can enjoy! You can move from here to almost every iconic place in Kathmandu in less than 15 minutes driving and there are plenty of places at walking distance such as bars, restaurants and clubs, and even iconic temples and squares. Also is not far from the airport, less tan 20 minutes driving. 5 stars to the personnel, they are so helpful, always ready to support you in any query. I even lost my phone in the taxi and they helped me to reach out the driver and I get back my phone. Amazing staff!

Excellent! Absolutely clean and hygienic place. Perfect place to have an experience of Nepali culture. Wide variety of food and drinks available. They have an utmost caring and delightful staff. Special thanks to the staff and special mention to Mr Ganesh. I can’t wait to come back again to this property! Things to improve- Lawn area, an extra side table in room for luggage, a separate counter for electric kettle and small dine in.

Central location, lovely staff and historic charme. The pictures on the booking platforms are a bit overstating the reality, but it is still a beautiful place if you like the more rustic charme. The breakfast is basic and good.

Wonderful historic hotel in Thamel. Beautiful building with lots of detail. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although it's in Thamel, the rooms themselves are quiet and relaxed. No A/C, but large windows that open to the center courtyard and a large oscillating fan. Western style toilets and a hot shower. After staying at a number of tea houses and other hotels, this one strikes a very good balance of being authentic but also accessible to those used to Western hotels. Interactions with staff are always friendly, warm and helpful. Great location in Thamel within walking distance of many nearby sights. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Kathmandu and looking for an interesting place to stay in Thamel.

It’s aesthetically very nice and quiet. Has hot showers. But the bed is the worst I’ve slept in since I’ve been in Nepal and I just finished a 15 day hike through the countryside sleeping in simple guesthouses. For $100 a night, old school box spring mattresses feels like a rip off.

This hotel and people working here all of them are caring and good people. The room service is good. But under the name of eco friendly and Nepal culture the emotional advantage is taken by owner to charge you high. Hotel Shankar was very nice even the hotel around this are good and cost wise reasonable.

This place is magical, if you are looking for an amazing experience in Kathmandu. Kantipur Temple House is a must. The service is top notch, the food is amazing organic and fresh, the rooms are cozy, and the location is perfect for walking around the town and shopping. The owner takes real pride in making sure your experience is nothing but good. We stayed 4nights and it was great.

Lovely and unique hotel. It was nice being off the main road to get away from the dust and noise. The rooms were nice and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Old and full of character. Rooms a bit dusty but a good enough place to stay to see Kantipur. Was bitten by a tic at night while sleeping.

A beautiful eco-friendly boutique hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Everything about this place was just perfect for us. We were lucky enough to find this gem of a place for our trip to Nepal. Top 3 best things about Kantipur Temple House- 1. Architecture - built in 1998 inspired by Ancient nepali woodwork and architectural elements. We were just mesmerized by how calm and relaxed we felt at the property. 2. Service - The staff is extremely helpful, we were never disappointed by them. Whenever we needed any help or a recommendation, the staff were there for us. They really made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Especially Suman, you rock man! 3. Location- The location is in the centre of Thamel, the bustling tourist centre of Kathmandu. It’s located within minutes from the best restaurants, cafes and shopping places. Very convenient! 4. Food - We had breakfast included with our room and they kept it simple, which is the best thing. Organic eggs, fresh yogurt, fresh fruits, delicious Nepali coffee and the lovely staff always put us in the right mood every morning. 5. Atmosphere- The hotel is silent, calm, peaceful and relaxing. After walking through noisy Thamel, reaching KTH was always a delight. It always felt like we can be home. There’s so much more I would love to write but I’ll leave it to you to experience this place for yourself. 10 stars for KTH if I could give them. Kudos Mr. Bharat and team for hosting us.

One of the best hotel stay experiences that I had in recent years. The manager Suman was such a gem of a person he attended our every requests. He and everyone in Kantipur made us feel that we are at a land of Never Ending Peace and Love. The ambience and architectural beauty of this place is unparalleled. I will definitely come back to this place again. A suggestion to whoever reading this: if you are here confused as to where to book while you are in Kathmandu. You must not waste even a minute. Immediately book your stay here. Its worth every minute and penny that you put in. Thanks KTH for making KTM stay memorable.

Kantipur Temple house is a very nice hotel for stay in nepal. Even though it is in Thamel but very quite and calm. Sure will visit again. Nice staff and service..

I came to Kantipur Temple House as my first stop in Kathmandu as a solo female traveler. Suman, who managed my stay, came to the airport to pick me up. He was a life saver because he was a source of support navigating Kathmandu and he was always there to help as I had many question. The food here is so fresh and externally tasty. The head chief is a cool guy who always came to make sure I was satisfied. I ate out a couple times and it didn’t match the quality at the hotel. The hotel itself if very beautiful. I loved the warm brick walls and the intricate wood work. This hotel is eco so filtered water is provided not water bottles and there are no TVs. This was a quiet place to get a good nights sleep. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Staff is very friendly and the ambiance is amazing. The breakfast features vegan items. I've asked them via messenger whether I could have vegan / plant based milk. That was absolutely no problem and the next day, there was Marsala Tea with soya milk waiting for me. Yoga classes are offered.

This place was great, clean and very calm. The service was very good and the staff are very helpful, it is located in Thamel and you will easily find taxis around the corner. The walls are built with traditional bricks, the rooms were clean but there was a bit of dust around the corners. There's no AC nor TV. We didn't care about the TV at all, but the AC might be important depending on the season. They will provide you with a fan though. Overall, this was a great experience, the price was around 60 US$ per night, and we recommend the place, check it out for at least 1 night if you're not sure.

In the quiet district of Thamel. Architecture is impeccable. The best and most special Royal Newari Set we tasted in Nepal. Staff were warm and friendly. The bathrooms need renovation and cleaning. Toilet bowl was old and dirty. If bathroom matched the beauty of the hotel, it would be a perfect hotel.

This immaculately presented eco temple house is the epitome of 'zen'. Right in the heart of Thamel, yet when we walked through the front gates, there was silence. The rooms are so clean and spacious and the staff are absolutely brilliant. We were sad to leave :( highly recommend for families, trekkers, and those seeking a quiet place to rest after hours of travelling and walking. 🙏🏽🕉

We stayed in the Kantipur Temple House for two weeks. And we can truly say that we were very happy with our choice. The staff is incredibly polite and helps you with everything you need. We felt very welcomed. The Hotel is clean and has a lot of charm. The room (double Suite) is large and you have a lot of space. The bed is comfortable and quite big. Also the bathroom is clean and they change your towels every time you ask. One of the best parts about this Hotel is the restaurant. The food was always extremely delicious. From morning to evening they are ready to cook something amazing for you. The waiters are very thoughtful and charming. You will love it. One of the best – if not even the best – restaurant we’ve been in Kathmandu during our two week stay. It is in the tourist district called Thamel. But as it is at the really end of this district, you don’t hear any noises. The location is perfect. Close to everything you need – restaurants, shops, bars etc – but still quiet enough for a good sleep. If you need a taxi, you’ll find one for sure just around the corner (Tip: use Pathaoapp for Taxi - SIM-Card required, really cheap). To sum up: perfect Hotel to stay in Kathmandu. It has everything as shown and said on the website We definitely come back!

Except for the architecture of the hotel everything else is pathetic A no no for all the Indians who are planning to stay here, the food here is obnoxiously overpriced and no breakfast options no tv no AC. For the price it offers less. It's just the beautiful vintage architecture of the hotel which traps attention

Stunning pocket of relative quiet amongst Thamel. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and serene. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were a delight. Check out the rooftop view at sunrise!
