The hostel is located right at the center of the touristic district, and also has a very nice terrace with a cafe. It provides good value for money. The manager Krishna was extremely helpful and could arrange everything for us. The only thing which bothered me was warm water - we arrived as a group, and water heating system did not manage that many showers at once (but typical for Kathmandu overall as I understood). I definitely recommend it for a stay before your treck.

Momos here at the Rooftop restaurant are the best I’ve ever had. Incredibly talented chefs & staff are super friendly. Was very happy staying here as management is on point- however my only problem is the noise from the busy z-street intersection- not a problem if you’re a heavy sleeper or plan to party as many do! Many thanks to this place. Will be back for Momos always!

This is my second time stay this hotel. Very cold January but they give me hitter in the room , was very helpful. Clean and wide room. Hot shower and wifi works perfect. Thamel is busy tourist area so bit noisy. If you are light sleeper. Better have ear plugs. This time I had food and drink at Roof Top Cafe. Momo was Fantastic . My favorite Americano coffee . Highly recommend.

Great accommodation option in Thamel. The rooms are clean and if you get the ones facing the interior of the building it is very quiet after 11. Krishna, the administrator of the place is very helpful. the location is superb and the food is good. My only issue was with the internet access inside the rooms (I stayed here on two occasions), is very inestable. Also, the first day the waiter in the restaurant was charging more for a service fee, that I was never sure if it was mandatory or not.

The hotel is charming. The beds are comfortable, the room is spacious and not old. Always hot water and fast wifi. No problem with the electricity during my stay. They have a good restaurant on the rooftop, their pizza is excellent, and the cheese tasting. The staff is really friendly, they helped me with booking a motorbike when I needed to visit the embassy. Also, they have arranged the relocation of my bags from a different hotel, which is not their duty at all.

I have stayed there twice during my Everest Base Camp Trek in February 2023 and not to mention, the place surprises you. It is in the heart of market, very economical, and to mention Mr. Krishnan pays even the slightest attention to the demands you are going to put. Bathrooms are spic and span clean. So are the bedsheets and towels. Rooftop restaurent serves decent quality food with a rustic ambience. Strictly advised, to stay and you would not repent. Keep up the good work bagpackers lodge....

Very nice hotel, directly in Thamel. The owner and the staff are very friendly and supportive, the breakfast is served on the rooftop bar which is also extremely nice in the evenings. I came back here more often and would definitely recommend the hotel.

Hot showers, rooftop patio with amazing food (try the Manchurian momos!), amazingly clean rooms and great customer service from Krishna and the team. Only one small downside, depending on location some rooms are louder than others at night. Can easily sleep with earplugs. And all the great things about this place more than make up for it!

Bag Packers Lodge Katmandu is situated at the heart of the city. It is very comfortable and the hotel team is very helpful and responsive to any need. It has a very nice Cafe/Restaurant on the roof. Prices are very fair. It is a most recommended accommodation.

Stayed here for multiple nights with a large group (27 of us). Would happily stay here again! The hostel was clean, spacious, and had the most wonderful and friendly staff. They have a lovely roof top patio with food and drink, bathrooms in each room, and a storage room for extra gear while you’re out adventuring. They’re location makes it easy to walk to all shops and amenities. Would gladly recommend Bag Packers to all my friends and family traveling through Kathmandu!

The best room we had in Kathmandu (and we stayed in few different places). It is a little expensive for Nepal (1500 rupees for a double room with private bathroom) but it's worth it. A very comfortable bed, clean room, great shower with hot water. They also have a good and affordable laundry service. Recommended place to stay!

We came to their restaurant for dal phat and momos; food was very comforting and flavorful, and Krishna, our server, was welcoming and friendly. We do not know about the lodging, but do come for the food: the rooftop is a nice, quiet place to unwind and the food was really nice.

Great location. Delicious food most of all! I loved the juicy steamed momos and the Nepali veggie set (Dal bhat). Great location on the rooftop! Krishna was very nice and a great person to chat with! After a 4 hour delay to Kathmandu, this was a wonderful place to eat and relax!

We’ve spended here two nights and we would repeat. The owner is really nice and the guy that serves the breakfast is also so friendly. The rooms are clean and cozy. The only bad things are that during the night it can be noisy because it is next to some party places, also that in the morning there wasn’t hot water.

We stayed here before and after our trek : confortable and clean rooms at a very good price, nice rooftop, very friendly and helpful hotel manager and staff. Safe storing of our belongings during the trek and laundry service. Highly recommend!

Although it's right in the middle of the busy Thamel area, the personable and easy going Krishna and his wife make the lodge feel pretty homely. The domineering traffic tended to put me off the area rather than the sometimes noisy nightlife. If you can handle those then Bag Packers is very conveniently situated.

Krishna and his staff will make your time in Kathmandu easy and fun. Krishna is both a tremendous host and an adept local fixer. Their customer service is better and far more friendly than that of the more expensive Thamel hotels. Bag Packers is a four-story building with clean rooms and plenty of hot water. On the roof there is a very clean restaurant with excellent dumplings, beer, and coffee. No hotel in Thamel is quiet. The streets are lively and that is what makes life here so much fun. However, Bag Packers rooms are very private and secure. Bag packers is surrounded by thamels most iconic bars, restaurants and shops. Finally, if you've never been to Kathmandu before this is the place for you. Check in, drink a beer, rest your feet, enjoy the air conditioning or the fan, get a hot shower, and ask Krishna's advice concerning your business in Nepal. You are in good hands.

Visiting Kathmandu for the first time without not much information, ready to explore and get backpackers experience, after long and tiring bus journey from India through Siliguri, we found this place after searching few places. Tired by walk, sun and dust, we met at the reception the owner who was very nice and friendly. The place is so clean and rooms are very nice for the budget backpackers. We got room with sharing bathroom, and I have to say this bathroom is perfect and clean, with hot shower and nice toilet. The place is inside the vibrant market and tourist restaurants, perfect for exploring around.

Reasonably priced rooms with a good variation of amenities at different prices. 100 rupee per kg washing service from reception and a rooftop bar with well priced beers, always empty. Don't get a room on the roadside unless you're a heavy sleeper as it can be really loud at night as there is an Irish bar right across the road.

Very friendly people, right in the heart of Thamel. Breakfast was good. Value for money. However, our room was next to a busy street, with very thin windows. Hence, there was a lot of noise. The beds were very hard. That made sleeping very difficult. The bathroom, while equiped, did not have a curtain so every becomes wet easily.

Price are quite on heavy side but hospitality management is awesome. I will recommend this place for sure do visit here once.

Wonderful stay for almost 2 weeks at Bag Packers Lodge. My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet and central located accommodation in this area. The Guesthouse has a nice location just on the north side of Thamel beside Z Street. With many restaurants, bars, and cafes nearby. ATMs are easily accessible as well. The room itself is tidy, decently clean, and quiet (away from the main road) The bed is comfortable enough and the noise level was perfect. The bathroom is a good size, with a clean interior. They have an amazing rooftop area with a lot of plants and a good place to hang out. They have a good menu as well, with a variety of items you can get. The food here is good. Definitely try it. The staff here are very professional, they are always attentive to the customers when any issues come up. They follow up with you to make sure you are their priority if you had any kind of problems. They do their jobs well here and it shows. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a conveniently located Guest House in Thamel.

I've stayed five different places in Kathmandu centre now, and this was the best value for money, professional and friendly staff, no BS. Very clean, modern bathroom with hot water coming very easily, simple breakfast included, great location.
