Situated in Kirtipur Municipality, Taudaha is astounding place for hanging out. To reach the lake on has to drive 11 km south from Old Bus Park, Ratnapark. It is believed to be created by Manjushree. The name, Taudaha, was formed from the combination of two Newari words:Ta(snake) and Daha(lake). It is perhaps one and only freshwater lake in Kathmandu valley hence it receives many sightseers. This lake is the home of great number of fishes and birds. Here you can enjoy feeding the fishes.

Taudaha has historic and cultural importance and is one of the only few lakes in the valley, probably the largest aswell. What you see here is the lake with large number of fishes, at roughly 1/4 part away from center of the lake is a small land mass with some trees; it's scenic. The lake is well maintained with nice pavement and guard railings so that nobody would fall in the water. People go around the lake on pavement exploring all sides of the lake. There is a fees you have to pay to enter the location, getting to this place is rather easy as it is accessable via road, there are public vehicles and cab that take you here. For visitors driving own vehicle, they have amenity of parking space as well. Although the once black topped road that lead here is bumpy and in poor shape presently, Taudaha is very popular among local tourists. Saturdays are busy with visitors here, since this place has taken commercial turn; these days, there are numerous shops & eateries. This place attracts visitors from the Kathmandu valley in the form of picnic aswell. Recommend on weekdays!

A beautiful lake with lots of fishes; make sure u buy fish food from the locals around the lake (pro tip: buy one or two from as many sellers as possible instead of buying a lot from one as they are all around the lake). On this date of posting the Entry fee for Locals: Rs 30 Foreigners: Rs 50

This place has been better ans clean, I am glad that th3 community has taken care of it and trying to preserve it. The entry fee is nominal, fish food is supportable for the people who are selling it. Still I suggest you do some bargaining if you need it. The fish in the pond has massively increases compared to few years back.

Good place to refresh....In the lake there are too many hungry big fish and you can also see turtles, Duck etc..If you like to feed the fish then you can buy small soya chucks available there but you might get bothered by the seller. Entry fee:-Rs 30 Bike parking:- Rs 25

Thousands of Fish runs towards us as soon as we enter Toudaha with entry fee NRs 30, or NRS 50 for foreigner. If we want to feed fish, we can buy fish foods from inside the lake. Dozens of fish starts fighting into one anothet keeping their circular mouth open in a hope to get their foods. Really peaceful and relaxing place, real beauty of nature with historical connection.

The place is a good escape from crowded Kathmandu city. The ticket costs around 30 for nepalis and 50 for tourists. The lakeside must have a way for the blind people. There's just a long line, with no extra tiles on it. The Dustbins must have something written so that people know what is recyclable waste and what is non-recyclable waste. The water is dirty, could be cleaned also goes to the sidewalk.

Breathtaking lake with plenty of giant size fishes and beautiful mountain view. Don't forget to slurp a cup of hot Nepal tea by an aunt staying within the lake at Rs20 only. Loved the tea and that moment 😊❤️

Taudaha is a small lake in the outskirts of Kathmandu. It is believed to be a remnant pool of the huge lake that once existed where now the city of Kathmandu sits. Early morning and evening in the summer and mid day during winter is the best time to visit the lake.. You can buy lots of fish feeds and fed them to different types of fish and tortoise in the lake.. The ticket costs Rs 30 for Nepalese..

One of the best lakes in Nepal. There are great legends related to this lake as well ( 'Kimbadanti', as we say it). The whole lake sits perfectly on the laps of Chobar hills. The scene is majestic and you feel almost lost in the beauty of the lake. The entry charge is low as well. One of the best dating sites in Kathmandu.

Ticket charge for Nepalese citizen is Rs. 30. You can find paid parking which costs starting from Rs. 25. Inside the gate of the pond, you can find small vendors selling sogabean chunks and other foods for fishes. There are lots of fishes including goldfish. It is well organized than its previous form. If you want to travel a little far from Kathmandu and enjoy then this place is perfect for you. 👍
