I saw many good reviews of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology but when I faced Tilganga institute service then I found there is no punctuality time. We have to wait for ages to get an appointment and get doctor services. I feel bad about our most prestigious and important hospital among many eye hospitals in Nepal. I want to suggest to the team management team,” please get a grip on your staffs and prove it you are the prestigious and good institute of ophthalmology”.

Pratibha Lama Joshi is the worst creature I have even seen. Obviously, shouldn't be called a doctor too. She thinks she is the best, which she is not. Doesn't know how to handle a patient and her work. We aren't paying you heavily for ur rude behaviour and stupid attitude. Given the amount, just treat ur patient, go home and sleep. Don't pour ur personal frustrations on the innocent patients. I strongly do not recommend this lady as an opthalmologist to visit to. Hospital management team, I hope this helps u understand what kind of personnel u are working with. This lady can lead to a huge disgrace in the name of Dr. Ruit.

Very good and systemic mechanisms for a hospital. One of the best and well managed Hospital. But with such many patients trusting and opting this place , why doesn't it have any parking space?? Literally none! And which hospital leaves their ER-unattended?? Literally empty??

I had smile surgery about 20 days ago at Tilganga Eye Hospital. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Shaswat Dhungel. I spent around Nrs. 85000 (current USD-670 ). I'm over the moon and thrilled to be free of the glasses which I worn for 14 years. Additionally, I am happy with the service I got from the entire staff from Refractive surgery team, especially Dr. Shaswat. He is indeed very approachable, provides simple answers to any questions about surgery, and fully explains each phase of the surgery before, during, and post. I had the opportunity to meet with another surgeon, Dr. Yoghita Rajbhandari, prior to the procedure, and she was incredibly kind and comforting. She thoroughly explained the surgical procedure to me, which helped me to feel more at ease and less apprehensive. I strongly hope that other hospitals and their employees will model this team’s approachable and welcoming behaviour towards patient. I wholeheartedly advise anyone national or foreign people who wants to have smile surgery to go to the Tilganga Eye Hospital ,Refractive team. Thanks to the whole team again . I appreciate all of your support and fully satisfied with the service provided.

Pratibha Lama Joshi is a disgrace in the name of a doctor. I wonder where she got her medical degree and how an old woman like her had such manners. We had paid for a premium clinic service and got to see this mannerless woman. Even her own staff were irritated by her behavior. How could the hospital of Dr. Ruit employ such a person? I recommend nobody go to Pratibha Lama Joshi for checkup.

I had done a squint surgery here. But it didn't correct perfectly. Most disappointed was their management system, if you reserve an appointment for a doctor but you must wait 1,2 hour to meet them or sometimes they won’t at the hospital too… you couldn’t discuss with them properly.

Sanduk Ruit-God lives Nepal Eye Program was officially launched in July 1992 to support the prevention & control of blindness in Nepal and the region. Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) is the implementing body of the Nepal Eye Program, a not-for-profit, community-based organization. With an aim to act as a model for treatment, research and training, one of the active members of Apex Body for eye health, Ministry of Health (MoH), Nepal and working in co-operation with all other eye care centers in Nepal. The TIO facility was opened in 1994. In the early years, working with The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), Australia, TIO played a key role to help refine and adapt a practical, safe, and affordable technique of intraocular lens implant for cataract surgery in developing countries. Another key achievement in the early days was the establishment of the country’s first eye bank, in conjunction with Tissue Banks International in Baltimore, USA, and Lions International.

System was not managed.Every day need to pay entry charge 300RS eventhough after checkup next day followup. Doctors are not spending quality time with patients, the way treated patients like in public transportation by khalisi.i.e.Come fast do this do that's and done go outside that's it.They are selling only name tilganga but management team I have seen ever worse.I could never recommend my colleagues, friend and family members.

It was the worst experience that I ever had among the hospitals in Nepal. By looking at the management and the services getting by the patients, feels bad to say that Tilganga is implementing body of the Nepal Eye Program and founded by renowned ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon Sanduk Ruit and one of the prestigious eye hospital in Nepal. The guards specially the “ ladies” were very rude to the patients and they don’t have the manner how to talk with patients and visitors. The management system is at the low level as they don’t value the time of patients and visitors. Staffs are not punctual not even the doctors.

Thanks to all the staffs and doctors for providing such a best service. However all the receptionist have to work a bit for their respectful communication skills and stop being rude as they are sick and it will get worse with that behaviour.

Since the proper introduction in April 2009, the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu, Nepal, keeps on growing its administrations. With expanded limit that accompanied the expansion of 110,000 square feet, it can treat more patients, train more ophthalmic work force at all levels and offer more ability and top to bottom help to public venues and ophthalmic groups in Nepal and around the planet. In 2011, Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology treated almost 280,000 patients and gave 17,330 medical procedures — a 33% increment over the 13,000 complete medical procedures acted in 2008 preceding the development of the office. In 2012, in excess of 390,000 patients were screened and more than 25,600 medical procedures finished. Tilganga Eye Center and the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology have assumed a huge part in the sensational improvement in eye care in Nepal since 1994. They has set another norm for conveying extraordinary eye care in the creating scene dependent on its high caliber, moderate administrations and clinical instruction programs. Tilganga is known for brilliant and moderate eye care administrations, preparing programs for ophthalmologists and ophthalmic collaborators, high-volume, top notch outreach work, The Fred Hollows Intraocular Lens Factory, and the locale's first eye bank. Tilganga and the HCP uphold ophthalmic practices in various medical clinics all through Nepal, just as offices in northern India, China, Tibet and Bhutan. By reestablishing sight to a huge number of individuals every year, Tilganga makes gigantic commitments to the nature of individual and local area life all through the Himalaya. HCP and TILGANGA DEVELOP REFRACTIVE SURGERY UNIT In April 2012, the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology formally introduced its new Refractive Surgery Unit offering moderate new laser innovation to treat patients with refractive blunder. Dealing with 70 to 80 cases each month, Tilganga's Refractive Surgery Unit keeps on surpassing assumptions. USAID upheld the redesign of the careful unit. Incomes created are being utilized to finance waterfall medical procedure for the individuals who can't stand to pay and to counterbalance other running expenses at Tilganga. Preparing AT TILGANGA Since 1994, Tilganga has prepared 19,381 eye care work force from 43 nations, of which 493 are specialists. In 2016 alone, 1,625 people prepared at Tilganga at all levels, going from hardware support to sub-strength cooperations and everything in the middle. In 2016, HCP likewise upheld the preparation of 23 ophthalmic staff from Nepal, including 2 observerships, 3 sub-subject matter experts, 12 ICO workshop members (facilitated at TIO in June), 4 administration trainings and meeting participants. The sub-strength observerships occurred across the United States, including Seattle, Atlanta, Nebraska and Utah, where Co-organizer Dr. Geoff Tabin drove the International Division of Ophthalmology at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. "In general, it was a significant privilege and advantage to have this preparation. The preparation has helped my certainty as well as reestablished my excitement and energy for the work. I might want to guarantee you that I will endeavor to move the abilities I acquired to my occupants to the most amazing aspect my capacities and attempt to get achievement the battle against treatable visual deficiency in Ethiopia."

Best opthalmology hostipal of Nepal. To get checked: get your token as soon as possible every early morning (token limit 225/day only). If didn't get the token(कुपन) you have to register your name for paid treatment which is the cost of 350/-.

Today I went to Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology and I took appointment that is premium service. However, only the charge premium. No services or the communication facilities were close to premium service. Especially Mr Sonam Lama of the refraction room. He got the egoistic attitude and has really poor communication skills. Also the staff should have their name tag with their proper uniform. I have to ask the name of the staff as he was very rude to us and they told me his name was Sonam Lama but I doubt if it’s real name or not.If the facility on premium service appointment is such I wonder how other normal appointments are like. My heart is very heavy as it is considered one of the best eye hospital in Nepal.

I had a pterygium surgery in tilganga eye hospital which is known to be the best eye hospital in Nepal. But unfortunately, the service is really really poor. I took premium service for my eye check up and surgery. But only money is premium.. what about the service? Dr Keepa Vaidya was 2 hrs late during the surgery and the follow up time as well. Please respect the time. Whoever comes there for service, please don’t let them wait for so long. That’s my request from the bottom of my heart.

Very slow operations by insurance staffs. The queue never ends. They allow their people to get priority from other side of the line hence elderly people need to stand in queue for minimum of 2 hrs. This needs to get fixed ASAP as same as other booths.

I was disappointed with premium clinic service.we paid rs1000 instead 450 because of the premium clinic patient benefits which seems so appealing on the website but the reality was not so similar. We had to wait for approximately 40 mins to get eye meds from 308. There was only one person working there but the line for med was so long. The guy who was working there is doing his best and he is good at his job but they need more staff at least 2 people so that patient does not have to wait too long for premium service. After waiting for 40 mins the pharmacist said they are out of one of the meds so we were sent down to first floor room 99.he said it we don't need to wait in line since we were sent from upstairs and we already waited for the med but the security guard at downstairs was rude and not listening to the detail info. So we had to waited another 30 mins. I feel like the we didn't get the service for what we paid for. I hope service improves in the future

Another key achievement in the early days was the establishment of the country’s first eye bank, in conjunction with Tissue Banks International in Baltimore, USA, and Lions International. Another vital international association of TIO early on was with the Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP), USA. They helped to run unique projects empowering local physicians to alleviate the suffering caused by blindness, including skills-transfer education, cost-recovery, research, and the creation of a network of eye care facilities. With the establishment of the state of the art manufacturing facility for intraocular lenses funded, designed & constructed by FHF, TIO had started off considerably well equipped in its journey towards blindness prevention and eye care. After fourteen years, TIO is still determined in its mission to be the hub for ophthalmic services, academia and research. The current focus of TIO is on strengthening its academic unit, opening more rural community eye centres in the hilly and mountainous districts of Nepal and above all sharing the ‘Tilganga’ model of eye care concept to others. Through the assistance of HCP and FHF, TIO is regularly conducting high volume remote cataract surgery camps and establishing sustainable rural eye care infrastructure in Nepal. HCP is also partially funding the current expansion project of TIO into a new building to manage our increasing demand. The FHF has been providing continued technical assistance to the IOL laboratory over the years and now has completed the total transition of control of the laboratory to TIO. Overall, TIO has crossed many milestones and has now grown into a centre for high quality ophthalmic services, products, training and academia. However, the burden of blindness in Nepal is still large, TIO and its staff feel there is still much more to do and many more challenges to overcome.
