This is the main International Airport of Kathmandu. The airport is relatively small. So it's easier to navigate around. The bathrooms in the waiting launges are clean and nice. However the information displaying has to improve and it would be nice if they can use boarding tunnels to connect the gates and the airplane 🛬. Pl

It is an international airport. There have been several developments over the years that have made the airport better and more convenient for both local and international travelers. The infrastructure is good but can be better. The waiting area for travelers is small and the wifi does not work very well. You need to take a bus from the terminal to go to the airplane. The government should invest more to make this airport stand up to international standards because so mnay tourists visit Nepal.

The airport has some serious issues that need to be addressed. Small check-in area, which is unable to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. Long queues can lead to flight delays and frustrating for travelers. Another issue is the poor maintenance of the toilets, which have a bad smell...!!. This is unacceptable. Also there are no proper restaurants for customers to have a proper meal here. I'm on 5 hours transit and no restaurant to dine is another frustration.

It is nice to see the old & bussiest international airport of Nepal at capital city Kathmandu getting face lift. Now there were different entrance & exit for arrival & departure. Luggage belts were tiny, terminal building was not big enough, very few outlets for shopping & eating. Building at arrival parking looked good & had good restaurants, banks & PCR testing sites as well.

As a frequent traveler, I was looking forward to visiting Nepal again after 18 years, but unfortunately, my recent experience at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) was not as smooth as I had hoped. The process for getting a visa on arrival involved standing in a huge queue for an extended period, with little assistance or support from airport staff. Once through immigration, things improved slightly, but finding a taxi was a challenge due to the crowds of people all vying for the attention of arriving passengers. I struggled to locate an airport taxi service, although this may have been due to my overlooking it. Returning home was even more disappointing. The check-in process was frustrating, with staff appearing disinterested in providing helpful information or even speaking politely. The environment was subpar, and a small shop was struggling to keep up with the demand of customers, leading to long queues and frustrated travelers. Overall, I was left with the impression that the airport is not particularly welcoming to tourists, which is a shame given Nepal's reputation as a popular travel destination. While I understand that airports can be busy and chaotic, I feel that the level of service and support provided to travelers at Tribhuvan International Airport leaves much to be desired. I strongly believe that the airport needs to make a concerted effort to improve the experience of tourists, particularly given the significant contribution of the tourism industry to Nepal's economy. This could involve measures such as better information provision, more staff training, and investment in facilities to make the airport more comfortable and efficient. In conclusion, while my recent experience at Tribhuvan International Airport was disappointing, I remain hopeful that improvements will be made to make the airport a more welcoming and hospitable destination for tourists in the future.

Beautiful red airport. Not so big but clean and tidy with traditional decoration. Airport staffs are helpful to tourists. There's a coffee shop at the departure with a good collection of souvenir collections. The washroom is not so clean. At arrival, you'll get money exchange & sim card shops. You can buy 3 sims against 1 passport. The parking area is large with systematic parking system.

One of the most unorganized and chaotic airports that I have been to. It needs a lot of upgrades. Security check lines, arrival visa lines are long. It takes ages to get luggage. The infrastructure is very old. Be prepared to spend at least 1 to 2 hrs to get out or get in.

Convenient airport with efficient facilities, friendly staff, and smooth check-ins. Limited dining options, but overall a pleasant experience. It can be upgraded more. Cafes and restaurants are more expensive than expectations. Baggage service is not so good.

The international apron at TIA can handle up to 15 aircraft, although only three can support wide-body category aircraft. There is also a bay at the eastern side of the airport that can hold two wide-body and two ATR 72 or similar type of aircraft. The eastern bay is used solely to park disabled or non-operational airplanes. Two new international aprons are under-construction to the south of the existing aprons. The aprons at the domestic terminal have been accommodating up to 35 aircraft, despite its allowable capacity of only 17.The helipad at TIA can handle up to 17 helicopters.

When I arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport, my heart was smiling because I was seeing the mountains right there in front of my eyes. I am a mountain lover, and the view was stunning. Overall, walking to the international immigration department and then finally collecting the luggage, I had a great time at the airport.

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, holds a unique charm despite its limitations. The facilities might seem a bit outdated and crowded, but they reflect the country's character. The airport staff's warmth and friendliness create a welcoming atmosphere, making up for some of the inconveniences. Navigating through the terminal can be confusing, and the amenities are basic. However, the breathtaking Himalayan backdrop visible on clear days and the anticipation of exploring Nepal add an adventurous spirit to the airport experience.

The lounge level is top notch. Employees are in the lobby to help customers enter the lounge. The quality of food and alcoholic beverages is also very high quality. There is even a smoking room. It has the effect of enhancing the image of Tribhuvan Airport. A five star rating is well deserved.

With full of lights, it didn't feel like night time even though it was almost midnight. With various people coming from different backgrounds had the same ultimate goal, to go abroad and improve the future which they could not forge here in their home country. It was a bitsy sad moment as you're witnessing your loved ones going abroad and won't be able to see them in person for quite a long time. There's always a crowd of people crying and trying to hold their tears together at this place. The airport itself has gotten more better in terms of development and management. There was a free vehicle services provided by the TIA around the airport area. It's much more easy to grab taxis and other vehicle's to return back From airport after saying see you soon with your loved ones. Airport had free WiFi available which was working smooth regardless of the number of users there. With opening of two other international airports, this airport will somehow will get less crowded. Have a wonderful flight everyone who's flying from this airport.

At the heart of the City. Easy to reach and good service. If you want to go to Nepal's different cities, it is easy to go by air. No rush and even you can get an Air ticket the same day.

I hope this message finds you well. I recently had the pleasure of visiting your airport and wanted to express my sincere appreciation for the warm and welcoming atmosphere that I experienced. From the friendly smiles of the staff to the beautiful decor, I truly felt at home during my time at the Nepal International Airport. Even amidst the hustle and bustle of travel, I was able to find a sense of calm and comfort within your airport. Thank you for creating such a homely environment for your visitors. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed and have certainly left a lasting impression on me. I look forward to returning to your airport in the future.

Rest you will know when you travel. Thank you

The arrival process at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International airport is relatively smooth - even when handling a Qatar Airways flight bigger than the airport itself. Immigration went smoothly and the baggages arrived on the conveyor belt quickly. However the same cannot be said for the departure process. Check-in was painfully slow (even after midnight when the airport was empty), and the security check was long and unnecessary in parts to say the least. Everything in the airport was closed (with the exception of a small kiosk), which is understandable considering that the flight was around 3am. Despite this, Qatar Airways is also one of the largest flights serving the airport so it really depends on what you are expecting to find at the airport. Most areas of the airport were clean, however the toilets were very dirty on both arrival and departure. Perhaps the new international airport in Pokhara is better in this area. The domestic arrival terminal is very small and can’t seem to handle the influx of passengers at some times during the day. Again, flying directly to Pokhara’s new airport may be a better option if that is your final destination.

Worst security process of any airport I have ever visited, and I am a frequent international traveler. After thorough scanning and frisking before reaching the departure gates, local officials insist on opening all carry on bags again in a small mobile tunnel before boarding the plane. Old people are forced to crush their way through the lines in intense heat or rain while security officials perform their shambolic final inspection and pat-down of all travelers who have already been cleared for takeoff. Such an useless indignity in what is otherwise such a beautiful and welcoming country.

So far the experience has been really nice, very quick and efficient staffs everywhere. There are three lounges, executive, Radisson and Horizon. You shouldn’t go to Radisson one just because of it’s name, it’s very old though food and staffs are good and helpful, they will bring food to your table, food was good as well. Executive lounge is the smallest and almost doesn’t exist. Horizon lounge is the one you should visit, priority pass is accepted, you will get drinks 🍺 and food and good desert options, here are few photos for you, I love airports and lounges ✌️Security check in is after the lounges here.

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal so far. It is in Kathmandu along the ring road. Daily national and international flights are available from the airport. Huge number of passengers within the nation have to depend upon the single airport in the nation. It caters service to around thousands of people.

My experience at Kathmandu International Airport was mixed. The airport is relatively small with limited facilities, leading to a substantial immigration queue due to a shortage of staff. The single queue for foreigners, compared to several for locals, resulted in significant delays and discomfort for many international travelers. The airport lacks sufficient dining options and duty-free shops, and seating facilities should improve. Despite these challenges, the hardworking staff demonstrated helpfulness and dedication in managing the situation. There's room for enhancement in various aspects for a more efficient and comfortable immigration process.

Nice and clean place. The services are not at the best level but they are available. Everyone is cooperative and the visa machines are easy to deal with. Passenger parking is acceptable. The view of the airport is beautiful while the plane is landing, especially the mountains around it. The airport is small in size and I was drawn to the seat of the passport officers. Services are available as soon as you exit the airport door.

Only International airport in Kathmandu ! It is not upto the world class standards .Nepal really needs a world class airport as the safety and capacity of this airport is not upto any standard! They loose a lot of revenue die to the airport being small ! Needs a upgrade or a new airport around kathmandu which can handle more traffic as well as more passengers and hence improve the connectivity of the area !

They considered this as one of the top 10 "Worst Airport in the World". The boarding area though has an AC, felt like it was in an open area. If you are a foreigner like ne, you are somehow lucky. You will get some kind of "special treatments" like in immigration, airport entrance and baggage scanning. If you are luck enough, kindly visit the Radisson's Executive Lounge. You will enjoy your airport experience more likely there.

Small, clean and easily navigable airport. Immigration staffs are very friendly. You can exchange foreign currency, buy sim card and book taxi from inside the airport. Exchange rates are quite good and sim card prices are not much different from outside. There are also a few ATM booths available.

This is the primary point of entry to the country. The airport is very simply designed and the facilities, especially the outbound gates, belong to decades ago. Unfortunately, there are not proper coffee shops or restaurants inside the airport, let alone a duty-free shop. For Nepal, this airport does not represent a very image of the country.

Tribhuwan International Airport, located in Kathmandu, Nepal, is the country's only international airport, serving as a crucial gateway for travelers. The airport's infrastructure includes a single runway and one domestic and one international terminal. Despite its strategic importance, there have been criticisms regarding customer service and operational efficiency. Suggestions for improvement include enhancing staff training to improve service quality, implementing better crowd management during peak hours, and addressing maintenance issues to ensure a smooth travel experience. Strengthening security measures, modernizing technology for streamlined operations, and enhancing facilities for passengers with special needs could significantly elevate the airport's functionality. Efforts to reduce waiting times, enhance cleanliness and sanitation, and optimize baggage handling would contribute to a more positive experience for travelers. Additionally, fostering a culture of courtesy and respect among the airport staff is essential for creating a welcoming environment. Overall, by addressing these areas, Tribhuwan International Airport can elevate its reputation and serve as a better transit hub.

With incessant traffic Kathmandu airport is very popular generally by the travel community for check-in and quick controls of course always depending on the number of passengers. The only problems I would add is there are often plane delays and to wait for bar points or quality restaurants lack.

Tribhuvan International Airport is an international airport located in Kathmandu. It handles the majority of traffic incoming and outgoing of Nepal. It has a tabletop runway of slightly longer than 3000 meters. There are two terminals, a domestic terminal and an international terminal. As the country's main international airport, it connects Nepal to over 40 destinations in 17 countries. The airport is a hub for two international airlines, the flag carrier Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines, along with multiple domestic carriers. The terminals are almost always crowded. The wait time is high, at immigration, at security and everywhere. A lot of modern security equipments are lacking. The airport is small as the traffic is tooo high for this airport to handle.

Immigration department is usually crowded resulting long queue. Management is getting improved but still there are many rooms for improvement. Staff need to behave more friendlier and respectable with polite answers to the queries of people. The way people are lured by taxi drivers when they just come outside from the arrivals is very disgusting which further gets terrible with the bargains for ride fairs. And this give the bad impression for traveller as the arrival environment should provide a pleasant hospitable feelings like welcoming the people to their country.

It's fine. Nothing to brag about. Pros: 1. Sometimes when things go smoothly, it's okay. 2. It's relatively cheap 3. Parking is so so. Cons: 1. Flight delay, air traffic delay. 2. Very expensive food and drinks 3. Slow/ no WiFi 4. You might have trouble getting a parking spot. 5. Not enough seats to wait for before checking in

It was quite a surprise this time. We landed on time 11:20AM. and got into the check-in line. The surprise was there was no one to serve the incoming passengers. We waited, and some started bla bla bla... about Nepal's system and how bad it is. Yes, as heard, and now saw no one in the serving desk, I was like, how come it happened in the mid day of business service. After a while, we moved on slowly and came to the luggage claim area. I started to be frustrated as you know how long it takes to get your luggage, not only in TIA but at every airport. As soon as I reached the baggage claim area, there were very few people from which I was getting a hint of going to be a long way, Wait for the baggage. The surprise was, the baggages were already there and waiting to be collected. A gentleman helped me collect them and on my way out. The other surprise that worried me the most was that no one checked if I collected the correct luggage or not. I am sure no any nepali will take intentionally, but what if someone mistakenly took it. Where and how to find. So, I took two stars 🌟. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars for this visit. Normally, it takes 1 hour to come out after landing, which I did. HAPPY 😊 😃 .

The introduction of Arrivals has made the place less crowded. The departure is nice and small, expensive as all airports if you want to have coffee and snacks. Have help desk in front. Taxi need to be stopped by the roundabout only private vehicle are allowed to pass to trolley.

Airport is stuck in time. People working here in immigration and other services need to evaluate their life. They’re so rude and generally disrespectful to anybody including foreigners and those people who help run Nepal (immigrant workers). Arrival despite being new has major flow problems. They should teach what not to do in airport with this airport as an example. There are at least 2-3 bottleneck in arrival section alone. - If you’re a foreign, alway fill out pre-arrival form from home ( saves 30-40 minutes). - Be ready with visa cash amount handy - Carrying a luggage out of this airport is another issue. There are only 2-3 elevators and occasionally only 1-2 works. Meaning there will be wait of at least 20-30 minutes. If you can just carry the luggage on your hands and take the staircase. It will genuinely save 20-30 on average. In a way this airport is a microcosm of Nepal’s current situation. A lot of government employees who thinks they’re the kings and queens. Service and infrastructure which are not properly maintained and not well designed.

Immigration for Indians was pretty faster as they manage the crowd well leading to faster clearance. The arrival section of airport offers prepaid SIM card which is a boon for all tourists at very affordable price for 1/7/30 day package including data packs. The team in the counter is very helpful and customer friendly and they take xerox of your passport and also help in activating the SIM in your phone which is very appreciable. they accept INR 100 denomination only There is a prepaid taxi service available which ensures that tourists are not charged heavily . For Indian travellers they accept INR 100 denomination only There are counters for currency exchange in the airport For departures you have a lounge facility after immigration and before security gate which serves a good variety of food and drinks to all travellers In short being a tourist country the overall experience for any tourists is always pleasant

Filled with diversity of emotions and feelings of people, TIA daily serves to thousands of people. Whenever I came to TIA, I wonder about the future of our nation. Day-by-day, people going abroad are increasing. I doubt if one day, the same situation may come to me and may flood me to the same crowd, in search for a better future, no matter how dark it seems to be. Safe travels 🙏 Namaste to all TIA visitors 🙏🙏

Small airport with limited amenities. It does have lounge and restaurant before security check. Once you have passed through security check, there is only one Tea / Coffee and confectionery shop at the gates. The toilet required cleaning and the air-conditioning was inadequate

The airport is pretty. The officers and staff are nice. I wish the security would be able to move the lines along faster. Wish there were more gift-shops beyond the immigrations checkpoint. The airport has a lot of room for improvement with regards to customer-facing "quality of life technology: for example, there is supposed to be free wifi available there but it does not work. GETTING TO THE CITY FROM THE AIRPORT The taxis charge a lot to get you out of the Airport and into the city. I recommend using the Taximandu App or InDriver App to get the recommended prices. And you are not required to tip. Drivers usually don't try to renegotiate the fare shown on the apps. Otherwise, use the Pre-Paid taxi services inside the airport. The individual taxis and airport cars right outside the terminals charge 3 to 4 times more than fair price to foreigners. (My taxi driver actually "took" tip from me AFTER charging me 4x the regular price. I was too ignorant, confused and tired to do anything when it happened, unfortunately.)

Tribhuvan International Airport is oldest and largest airport in Nepal. Getting there is easy with the new ring road which goes all around the city (still a lot of work to be done on ring road though). There are only a few checkin counters, so the process is slow. Hardly any seating available to sit around. Security and immigration is smooth process. The overall facilities are average compared to other major airports around the world. It needs some improvement to improve it looks and expand it with more chairs and counters.
