It is the sole international airport in Nepal. Having one domestic and one international terminal, the airport serves as a hub for several Nepalese airlines and over 30 international airlines connect Nepal to destinations in Asia and the Middle East. Due to severe traffic congestion and the airport running out of its maximum capacity, the government of Nepal decided to construct more international airports, notably, Nijgadh International Airport, Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha Airport. The airport has two public terminals, one for international and one for domestic traffic. It also has a terminal for VIP guests operated by the Government of Nepal, where international state guests are welcomed. There are plans to construct a separate terminal for helicopter transportation.[8] Radisson Hotel Kathmandu operates an executive lounge for first and business class passengers for some airlines[9] and Thai Airways operates a lounge for its business-class passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold card holders Nepal Airlines operates a large hangar. There are plans to upgrade this facility.[11] Buddha Air operates a closed door hangar facility, which can accommodate narrow-body aircraft at the Eastern side of the airport.

Small airport but very organized! You can walk out in 3 minutes! Getting the Visa was very easy and fast.

Pls visit Kathmandu.its a beautiful country with very good people. The cost is very less. The culture is great. It has great historical sites. High Western culture in thamel . Great buddist site at swayambunath and bouddanath. Holy hindu shrine at pasupathinath. Once again Nepal welcome's you and your family.

Goid airport especially the shopping experience on the departure side. It's awesome. Good shopping experience. Need lots of improvement on check-in side of the international departures. Being congested. Act fast before it becomes a railway station kind of airport.

It is a small but beautiful airport, it has WiFi connection for tourists and I had a good experience here! Also, the views of Kathmandu from the airport are insanely beautiful😍

Check Nepal visa necessority before travelling: if you need for more than 1 day you can do application via on-line form on Embassy site or personally at airport Kathmandu by machine, there are at least 8 machine for passport scanning, but many tourists occupate first four making long line. Then you have to pay visa in another person, then go to passport control and officer will give you visa in passport. Staff are very friendly and help if ask. Good luck!
