Among all the glacial lakes in Nepal, Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake is the biggest lake in Nepal. The lake is located at an altitude of 4,580 metres in the Rolwaling Valley, Gauri Shankar Rural Municipality -9, Dolakha district. Trekking duration is around 6-7 days. Trail route for the lake starts from Chhyot Chhyot up to where we can go via local bus. Roads are only the means of way to reach Chhyot Chhyot. Trail Route: Chhyot Chhyot Around (1500m) - Simigaun ( 2019 m) - Dongang (2800m) - Beding (3700m) - Na Village (4183 m) - Tsho Rolpa (4580m). Dudhkunda lake ( Around 4900 metres) lies above Tsho Rolpa Glacial lake in this region. There is a circuit forming a trail route having both Tsho Rolpa and Dhudkunda which can be covered in a single day via Na Village. Na village is a last settlement area for Tsho Rolpa trek where we can find accommodation and fooding. This trail route is one of the wonderful trek routes around Nepal with beautiful views of Himalayas , Waterfalls, Forests, Settlements, Animals, Monasteries, nature and obviously the lakes. Around 3000 meters of altitude should be gained to complete the trek and one could have a chance to get altitude sickness. Tsho Rolpa trek would be a delightful and glorious trek and worth a try trail route to be touched with nature and civilization away from cities and towns.

The frozen lake lies in Dolakha district. Its one of the endangered lake with a threat of outbreak which can affect livelyhood of alot of people living downward, but the risk has been minimized by construction of dam. The view of the lake is amazing. From Kathmandu we can get bus to Chetchet from old buspark now shifted near khullamunch, and fromchetchet it's like 3days of trek to the lake also famous as Rolwaling valley trek. one has to pass through places like Simigaun, Surmuche, Dhongyang, Beiding, Naa village before they reach the lake. The lake gets completely frozen during winter season, that one can easily walk on it.

The trek to tsho Rolpa is one of the amazing among all the trek I have ever did. The mesmerized mountains, the way of rhododendron and the sound of tamakoshi river is the most loved music.... We started trek from Kathmandu to charikot to gongar khola to Chet Chet by bus traveling 11 hours. Then climbed uphill to simigou. From simigou , the mesmerized view started to Attract us. Our way is all decorated by pink , red, white rhododendron on both side and the sound of tamakoshi is playing flute in that environment. We reached to beding which lies in Rowling valley then NAA then finally to tsho Rolpa. I can't be able to describe the beauty of tsho Rolpa so visit once in your lifetime.....

It was really awesome place to visit which was located in Dolakha district. We need to take bus from charikot or singati to chedched and from there trekking route started, first day need to stay at Simi Gaun and 2nd day stay at bedding and 3rd day stay at Na Village and next day reached Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake. We can easily returned in two days.

The lake itself was frozen but the hike reveals breathtaking views and as the trail is still raw, it's an amazing place to explore real himalayan culture and food. People were very polite and friendly. Highly recommended for explorers and trekkers.
