Had a once-in-a-lifetime trekking experience to Everest Base Camp with our intrepid guide, Som. Som was fun to have around and hang out with, but he was also invaluable to our group for organizing our itinerary, booking lodgings and transportation, and making recommendations/adjustments to the schedule based on the unpredictable weather. Without our guide, our trek would have been significantly less enjoyable and maybe not even possible - Som pulled strings to get us lodging at the higher elevation settlements (Lobuche and Gorak Shep), despite the teahouses being exceedingly overbooked. We also managed to see an amazing sunset over Mt. Everest from the summit of Kala Patthar at 18,500ft that I will remember for the rest of my life. Had a great experience with this guide and trekking company and would highly recommend to others!

My wife and I hiked the Annapurna Circuit and Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Treks. What an absolutely incredible experience!! We weren't sure how we would handle the altitude, but after wrapping up Annapurna and feeling great we decided to hike EBC as well. Ammar was fantastic to work with and always quick to respond, and our guide Som was amazing! Ammar and Som made us feel completely comfortable with what was ahead, and we always felt like we were in great hands. We learned so much from Som about the mountains and the culture of Nepal. Nepal is such a culturally rich country, and I'm so glad I got to experience it in such an authentic way. We also had porters, Dependra and Narendra (separately for each trek), and they were so helpful and kind. I'll always have fond memories of playing Nepali card games in the tea houses with Som and Dependra (even though Dependra always would win!) We talked to many other trekkers who had issues with their guides or tour agency, but Gokyo Treks gave us the trip of a lifetime. This is a truly professional company and they are experts at what they do. I'm already looking forward to another trip back to Nepal! Thank you guys for the most amazing experience!

In October 2022 I completed a 15-day Langtang – Gosaikunda trek organized by Gokyo Treks with Bharat Dhakal as a guide. This was my third trip with this company, and all of them were perfectly prepared by Ammar, the director of Gokyo Treks. (Btw. my previous review about my earlier two treks is from another account as Google does not allow to post more than one review from one account). The previous treks were in a group of 4-5 people, with one guide and a couple of porters. So, I was confident that this time I can also rely on Ammar and that I do not have to look any further. Indeed, advice and help were needed even before the trip started, as the originally planned Manaslu trail was impossible to do due to heavy rain and landslides in that area. Ammar personally spent a lot of time at the immigration office that issues trek permits where the situation was changing with incoming news from the mountains. Finally, we decided to go for Langtang and Gosaikunda treks. This time I was trekking alone with Bharat as a guide and Ram as a porter. They made a great team taking care of everything that was needed during the trek. Excellent choice of lodges, help with the meals, taking photos. Bharat was present all the time around me ready to help with anything I needed. One day he almost run to the next village to get a room when he learned on the trail that most of the lodges are booked. During day hikes days, such as to Tserko Ri, both Bharat and Ram were with me with Ram carrying my stuff, Bharat leading the group, and Ram at the end. This was very appreciated! Again, I can highly recommend Gokyo Treks and letting Ammar organize your trip!

I recently went on an incredible Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Treks and Expedition. The entire experience from start to finish was amazingly organized and executed. Our guides were friendly, knowledgeable and so passionate about sharing the Nepali culture and history. They ensured we stayed safe, hydrated and fed during the longer hiking days. They made every effort to accommodate our interests and pace. The porters and support staff were extremely hardworking and kind. So first off, great choice in the Annapurna Panorama Trek, excellent views, delicious food, and let’s just say the trek was hard enough for me and I have hiked through the western US. Rajesh was my guide and I am sooooooooooooooo happy it was him!! He took excellent care of me, always made sure I felt okay, made sure I didn’t feel pressured with the pace, always made sure I had enough to eat. There are some pretty tough moments on this hike, even though sll of Nepal describes it as easy. Going downstairs for such long periods of time can be very challenging on one’s knees, but Rajesh made it as easy as he possibly could for me. I have to say, he always pick the right place to stay. That is not subjective, he actually took care of the pick the best room he could for me, made sure I was as comfortable as possible, and picked the best logistical location possible. I didn’t realize there would be so much to consider, but he considers all of it. You could also tell that Rajesh has an excellent reputation among tea house proprietors. He doesn’t drink or smoke, he maintains the highest professionalism, he knows he has to get up early and get his guests to their location safely. Uttam was my porter and he was strong and super accommodating! Very professional, and very accommodating. Really helped me out when I needed it! I also wanted to mention Ammar, every time I had to communicate to him from the states using WhatsApp, he always answered promptly and politely. He put together an excellent trip, as I also wanted to go to Chitwan national Park. Thank you everyone, I had an excellent time!!

I did Annapurna Circuit Trek for my first time, it was well organized. I got an experience guide name Lila Tamang who really take very good care of me for the whole trip. February is off season, but I found an advantage of less trekkers and guesthouses are clean. Anyhow for your safety,I recommend to have guide when you do trekking in Nepal. And Gokyo Treks is your best choice.

I have completed two treks organized by “Gokyo Treks and Expeditions” in a group of 4-5 people, Annapurna Circuit, then Everest Three Pass. Mr Ammar Raj Guni, the owner, is very professional and dedicated; he had responded promptly to all our questions that we had before the trip. It was difficult to select an agency just from the internet. The responses that we received from Ammar were prompt and detailed and this had built our confidence in “Gokyo Treks”. And this was a very good choice! When we arrived to Kathmandu everything was already arranged for us: permits, tickets to Lukla for EBC trek, all the needed paperwork, meeting with the guide. The guides are very experienced, speak very good English, are social and patient, enjoy sharing their knowledge about local places and traditions. We spend a lot of time together, climbing the passes and trekking peaks as well as sharing our stories in the evenings.
