Tsunami
Memorial
Park
kamala:
A
Moving
Tribute
to
the
Victims
of
the
2004
Tsunami
I
have
visited
Tsunami
Memorial
Park
kamala
several
times,
and
I
always
feel
a
deep
sense
of
sadness
and
respect
for
the
victims
of
the
2004
tsunami.
Tsunami
Memorial
Park
kamala
is
a
small
park
that
is
located
opposite
Phuket
Fantasea,
at
the
north
end
of
Kamala
Beach1.
It
is
only
10
minutes
away
from
my
home
by
motorbike.
The
park
has
a
large
statue
of
a
mother
holding
her
child,
surrounded
by
a
circle
of
water1.
The
statue
symbolizes
the
love
and
protection
of
the
mother,
as
well
as
the
sorrow
and
loss
of
the
child2.
The
statue
is
very
realistic
and
touching.
I
often
see
people
laying
flowers
and
praying
at
the
statue.
The
park
also
has
a
wall
with
the
names
and
photos
of
the
people
who
died
or
went
missing
in
the
tsunami1.
The
wall
is
very
long
and
has
hundreds
of
names
and
photos.
Some
of
the
photos
are
faded
or
damaged,
but
they
still
show
the
faces
of
the
people
who
were
once
alive
and
happy.
The
wall
reminds
me
of
how
many
lives
were
affected
by
the
disaster.
The
park
is
not
only
a
place
to
mourn,
but
also
a
place
to
learn
and
remember.
The
park
has
some
information
boards
that
explain
the
causes
and
effects
of
the
tsunami,
as
well
as
the
recovery
efforts
and
donations
that
followed1.
The
park
also
has
some
artworks
and
sculptures
that
express
the
feelings
and
messages
of
the
survivors
and
the
local
community2.
Tsunami
Memorial
Park
kamala
is
one
of
my
favorite
places
to
visit
in
Kamala
Beach.
It
is
a
moving
tribute
to
the
victims
of
the
2004
tsunami.
I
highly
recommend
it
to
anyone
who
wants
to
pay
their
respects
and
learn
more
about
the
history
and
culture
of
Kamala
Beach.
