In order to get to the plane spotting, you need to park your vehicle outside. There is a large parking area, and then you take a three-wheeled motorbike (Not a Tuk Tuk, it’s a motorbike taxi with a sidecar) to the spot, which costs 20 baht per person per ride.

Long, beautiful, wide with less people, even through the sands are not finest.

A beautiful and very long beach. The sand and the sea are fantastic. This beach is located right next to the airport in Phuket. You can record the landing and takeoff of the plane, which is beautiful for fans of this attraction. It is easy to get to the beach itself. The beach is very long and not crowded. If you want peace, this beach is idyllic

Mai Khao Beach, Phuket, Thailand. Mai Khao Beach is part of Sirinath National Park. Mai Khao Beach which is known as Hat Sai Khao, is part of Sirinath National Park. It has the longest coastline of all Phuket's Beaches and also the most deserted & isolated beach. It is located at the North of Phuket International Airport. Must take awesome selfies with low flying Boeings. At that moment I was lucky to witness a lonely local guy was catching Sea Cockroaches along the quiet beach. Sad that the beach was hit by 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami. It is nice place to relax and unwind there.

Fabulous sandy beach with warm sea. In May-September time the waves are high and watch out for the strong current. It also has a nice spot for watching planes taking off and landing near the Phuket Airport. Mind that usually landing of the planes just above the beach happens in winter months, and taking off - summer months. This is a beautiful, amazing nature gem in Phuket. This beach is part of the national park and lasts for around 11km. Every year sea turtles lay eggs on this beach. Amazing sunsets are guaranteed every day. And it is so possible to walk down the beach without meeting anyone else - a true place of peacefulness and calmness. Unfortunately, there is still trash, mostly washed out from the sea. So look under your feet to see where you are stepping. There are also lots of crabs, big and small, on this beach - it’s really interesting to watch them. Mai Khao beach doesn’t have any standard “beach” attractions and activities such as sea motorbikes, cafes etc. For these sort of entertainment there are many other beaches in Phuket. Mai Khao is there to spend some time with nature in piece. There are some resorts located on this beach to the North of Phuket. So if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxed time in Thailand - check them out. There will be mostly nothing else around though, except a couple of massage places and some local restaurants. Many people complain about this, but pfff - have they checked the map beforehand?! Don’t come to this beach if you’re looking for default beach attractions and activities. For me, Mai Khao beach is about calmness and sunsets.

Just a 1 hour sightseeing add on for all the tourists, do not miss this as this is the place where one can watch a plane land at the closest. The beach is very very clean, one has to park the car/bike at the parking little away from the beach and take a tuk tuk, a 3 min ride to the beach. Loved it from every aspects.

We took the golf cart from Marriott hotel to the beach. It’s the longest beach and not very crowded and very nice for sunset on a clear day.

The longest and least populated beach on Phuket, 8km of beautiful uninterrupted sand.

It's will look much better if all of us take good care of the place we visited. I found out a lot of trash around the beach. I would love to see an airplane landing but at the time I visit only to see them take off, Landing in another side, you might wanna check which month will land next to the beach. Today there are the Red flags show up that means a strong current, dangerous to swim, can’t go swimming at the beach.

It’s an amazing beach. Very clean compared to other Thai beaches. Beautiful sunsets every day. If you are looking to stay nearby, it has some amazing resorts. Highly recommend SALA.

Best view of airplanes flying just above you. If you are lucky planes will be landing by ocean side to get the view or else they land by the landside.

On the northwestern part of the island lies its longest beach, Mai Khao which also straddles part of the Phuket International Airport (Thailand’s busiest gateway after Bangkok), making it a fantastic spot for plane spotting. But what we love about it is that it’s so far removed from the rest of the island that you can lay claim to a big swath of it without seeing anyone the whole afternoon until the sun slowly dips into the horizon. My Mai Khao indeed.

Away from crowded tourist beaches, this is probably another great beach for sunset. Good beach for family with young children.

Really cool beach, because you get to see the planes landing and taking off. Great for a trip if you haven't had that experience before.

Pretty nice, there were lots of people here today. When you get here you can take a bike taxi to get from the parking lot to the beach, 711, or to your hotel. Many scenic spots to take photos, and as a bonus you can watch the planes take off from the airport nearby. A tiny but dirty but overall not bad.

One of the longest beaches in Phuket and very scenic. However the waves could be big so not possible for kayak or other water activities. There’s also a slight slope down the beach.
