Visited this sanctuary a month ago and it was absolutely amazing! It was my first time seeing and being up close to an elephant. I was the only person there and I got the full experience. First I watched an elephant show which involved dancing, ball kicking and hat snatching. Very cool show. Did some banana feeding. Then I met Keaw. She was very bubbly and I learnt a lot about her. Keaw and I went trekking in the mountain and made our way to the bathing site where we got play in mud and bath. Afterwards I was shown the rubber trees up in the mountain and got to make some rubbery things. To finish the trip, a special lunch was made for me which was some type of noodle (forgot the name) and a side of pineapple. It was really delicious. My overall experience was fun and amazing. Definitely worth the visit!! And Keaw (the elephant) was just beautiful, sweet and fun to play with! 😊 Highly recommend going to visit!!!

This was a better place than the one up the street. There were two elephants and they were old and we just fed and watched them get bathed. It was fun for the kids. Waay better than riding them and hurting them

The experience was not bad; however, in the future, I will never try such an activity again. I cannot accept that something as magnificent as an elephant is being treated as a mere medium for human entertainment. This was my first elephant ride and will most likely be my last!

A friendly elephant sanctuary . The place is not big but traffic is also lighter. We called in advanced to book the elephant bath and feeding. We are a group of 16 with both adults and kids. We all enjoyed the time. Elephant seems be treated nicely and staffs are friendly. Recommended.

The location in question is small and only offers a limited number of elephants for visitors to see. While the opportunity to feed the elephants may be a unique experience, it may not be as exciting as some visitors may hope. It may lack certain elements such as interaction or activities that would make the experience more thrilling. The focus of the location is primarily on the presence of the elephants, and not necessarily on providing a highly stimulating or thrilling experience for visitors.

people in the comments are mad that they can play with elephants, ride them, feed them etc. like they would do in other places but these other places are abusing animals to do what people want them to do! keeping them on chains and beating them when tourists are not watching. people are so cruel and demanding. Watch these beautiful creatures instead of using them for your own entertainment!!

Wow. My trip to Kathu Sanctuary was the highlight of my trip. Staff was friendly to visitors and elephants. From feeding the elephants to bathing them this was top notch. After you bathe elephant, shaff cooks you a meal. Highly highly recommend. Thank you to the staff. Everyone was so friendly and bubbly. The took the best pictures and videos.

It's open. Google maps and Waze have it about 1/2 kilometer short. The prices are much cheaper with no foreign tourists. Make sure you call and have a Thai person arrange the price before hand. 1800 baht for 3 elephants and 6 people and an infant. Elephants seemed happy enough. I imagine this won't last long in the prevailing politically correct climate. Tipped each mahut as they looked like they lived harder than the elephants. Elephant sized mosquitoes so bring repellent. The trail is pretty sketchy and it definitely wasn't your average boring elephant ride.

Unforgettable Elephant Encounter at Real Kathu Elephant Sanctuary! Our visit to Real Kathu Elephant Sanctuary was nothing short of magical, providing us with an awe-inspiring experience with these gentle giants! From the moment we arrived, the caring and knowledgeable staff made us feel welcome. My baby, who adores elephants, was overjoyed at the opportunity to feed them. The caretaker even generously offered us an extra box of bananas, making the experience even more special for our little one. Interacting with these extraordinary creatures was both heartwarming and thrilling. Taking photos with the majestic elephants created memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. The sanctuary's commitment to the well-being and happiness of the elephants was evident in every interaction. Real Kathu Elephant Sanctuary stands out not only for providing a unique and educational experience but also for their dedication to the welfare of these incredible animals. I highly recommend this sanctuary to anyone seeking a meaningful and unforgettable encounter with elephants.

I visited in 2019 and can't stress how well they take care of the elephants here. No chains, no cruelty, no abuse. They are more focused on the elephants than money. Please do support this wonderful place that does so much for this beautiful animal that so many other places sadly abuse

Please note this is the new location of "Elephant Sanctuary Home" - same people run it but seems they moved sometime recently (the phone number works for this location, not the old one). Awesome place, staff clearly love the elephants, well treated and cared for. We went here after searching for somewhere that was able to provide interaction with elephants (feeding and bathing) but without the bad treatment of trekking places. This is supposedly a family run place as well. We had a fantastic visit, makes you realise how gentle elephants are and in right place act like big pets πŸ˜€. Only 4 elephants but that was plenty, and as they act as rescued animal recovery those that have recovered then transfer to wild sanctuaries later on.

We had the best time here loved how calm and friendly the elephants were and how we got such a personal experience from feeding to mud scrub and bath and pics with the beautiful elephants, the staff were so lovely and we also had an amazing Pad Thai cooking lesson and got to share that meal. The most memorable day.

our guide whilst there was amazing. You could tell she really cared about the elephants, answered our 100's of questions. Facilities are very tired and run down but you can tell they spend all their money on the animals

amazing experience but not really what we paid for. we were there for just under 2 hours when we were told it was a half day experience. grateful to the lovely lady that sold it to us as we were able to get a student deal for 1200 baht each instead of 2500. we didn’t get the cooking or mud bath which was on the list of activities. the sanctuary was really ethical and obviously really cared for the elephants which is great though

It was ok, there were only three elephants but they looked happy. It was just too hot but it was a nice experience as we had the elephants to ourselves.

Excellent place, elephants well taken care of, gentle giants, the while experience was quality time with the elephants, feeding and bathing them, also traditional Thai food included, it is all on charity as these elephants have been rescued, so if you visit please donate something it really is worth every penny

The worst experience we had. My wife and I arrived and paid for the full package to experience feeding, taking pictures and having a bath with the elephants , unfortunately due to heavy rain we did not manage to do all . when we spoken to the manager (Gee ) Apperantly that's the name she goes by . she showed up very angry and with the worst attitude and when we explained we only managed to do half of the activities we paid for and would like to down grade the package .Her response was its not my fault you can sit here as long as you want I will not refund or downgrade your package and wait until the rain stops and see like we had no other things to do or anywhere else to go . we explained we only got the chance to take a picture and feed the elephant which should be a total of 2200 THB and we paid 4400 THB as we didn't get the chance to shower with the elephant. I asked to speak with the person in charge and her response again and I qoute "you have no right to speak to anyone " . she refused to pay us back which was actually stealing and her manner and attitude made things much worst and the worst part is when we left she was sarcastically shouting and laughing saying you didnt get your refund. honestly it was no longer about the money its just the manner attitude and the way it was handled so she ruined what could of been a lovely experience to one of the worst experience ever . So if you wish to have a good time and no headache and not waste your hard earned money avoid this place by all means Not recommended at all

At the entrance, lady quoted 1200 baht just to feed the elephants. 2200 baht to wash and feed the elephants. Finally, she offered 900 baht per person just to feed the elephants. We went to Big buddha instead, on the way up to Big Buddha, there were lots of baby elephants to feed for 100 baht .

Amazing experience. The elephants are free to roam the jungle and come into the sanctuary to feed and bath. Genuinely a wonderful experience, cooking Phad Thai after feeding the elephants was an amazing experience.

Was ok, but the part with going into a pool with unsanitary water wasn't a good idea for the business to involve a tourist.

Our visit was a bit underwhelming. The driver was 45 minutes late picking us up at the hotel. My daughters had fun swimming with the elephant "Linda" and washing her. The staff gave us bananas to feed the elephants. The same elephant was washed three times while we were there. The jungle walk is straight up a very large hill. The staff let my daughter make vegetarian pad thai for the family. The bathrooms were clean. (No toilet paper.) Overall, I was expecting more elephants.

Elephants seemed happy but hard to tell how they are treated when tourists not there. The facility is obviously in need of a cash injection but the experience was relaxed and very open. We were the only tourists there at the time so got to wash the elephants in the pool. Not sure how ethical washing elephants is but they genuinely seemed to enjoy it. Thai cooking and photos are a waste of time though to be honest, just trying to get more money squeezed out.

😠 I feel so sad after the show. Sad because I didn’t realize the handlers were going to be abusing and hurting the snakes to try to get them to bite at them. Please could you figure out a different show routine that interacts with the snakes without hurting them? Also it made me sad that the handlers...
