This
was
the
place
I
was
most
eager
to
visit
as
it
houses
a
bone
of
the
Buddha.
Being
one
of
the
biggest,
if
not
the
biggest,
cultural
hotspot
of
Phuket,
the
temple
and
temple
grounds
always
have
a
lot
of
visitors.
The
temple
grounds
are
huge
and
houses
many
meditation
centers
and
other
temples
dedicated
to
famous
Buddhist
monks
(apart
from
the
main
temple).
The
main
temple
contains
several
sculptures
of
Buddha,
donated
by
devotees,
on
the
ground
floor.
The
architecture
inside
shows
Chinese
influences
and
the
paintings
show
several
details
and
stories
of
Buddha's
life.
The
first
floor
also
has
a
few
sculptures.
It
is
on
the
second
floor
where
the
bone
fragment
of
the
Buddha
is
housed
in
a
glass
case.
The
Thai
Buddhists
like
to
refer
to
it
as
a
"relic"
and
not
a
bone.
From
this
top
floor,
the
Big
Buddha
statue
can
be
seen
on
a
mountaintop.
There
is
another
main
temple
which
has
the
idols
of
3
main
monks
of
Buddhism.
There,
people
can
pray
and
also
read
their
future
through
fortune
sticks.
However,
make
sure
you
have
a
person
who
can
translate
from
Thai
for
you,
as
the
fortunes
are
written
in
Thai.
There
is
a
huge
pot
on
the
grounds
where
devotees
can
pay
to
have
firecrackers
lit
inside
that
pot.
Bursting
firecrackers
symbolizes
respect
for
the
Buddist
monks.
The
temple
designs
show
the
influence
of
Hindu
culture
on
Buddhism.
This
place
can
be
enjoyed
better
when
there
is
a
guide
to
explain
everything
to
you.
PS
-
Women
should
not
wear
clothes
that
reveal
their
knees
or
shoulders.
Everyone
has
to
take
off
their
footwear
before
entering
each
temple
here.
So,
dress
accordingly.
