Very disappointed when we arrived the staff at reception were very rude and it was a hassle we were checking in! When asking for the bond it was hassle we paid card and they were complaining in Thai and asking for cash. After checking in the room and resort looked nothing like the photos. The room was very outdated paint peeling off and door to balcony was rotted and falling off. The room was full of mozzies and bugs. The toilet was dirty and not up to standard of a 4 star hotel. After checking out the room and cancelling our booking after less then 30min in the hotel It was hassle dealing with the staff and getting our money back. This hotel is very miss leading and made me feel very uncomfortable. Would not recommend to stay here at all

This resort happened to be near the dentist I wanted to visit so it was ideally located. It was very well serviced by multiple pools, one with a swim up bar, a bar, dining room and a gift shop that sold the gorgeous silk materials and garments. There were plenty of shops nearby and a great market with a bit of everything. It wasn't near the beach so if that's what you're after it would be a bad choice but we had a balcony and I could see the beach from there. Certainly would stay here again. Staff were great. Enjoyed the breakfasts and had dinner there too. Lunch would have been something purchased at a convenience store.

The hotel was fabulous! The pools, the swim-up bar, the trees everywhere it was all great. You truly feel like you're on vacation! The 2 ends beach side and street side made everything so easily accessible. You could walk on the main road for shops or the beach road for food. It was so good I extended my 4 day stay to 7 day stay, however I did move halfway from the street facing room to the pool facing (substantially quieter)!

Stunning 4 star hotel. It is also very central. A few minutes walk to Bangla walking street and the back entrance is close to the beach. It has 3 swimming pools one of which has a bar with stools in the pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I hope to return there one day again!

Fantastic service from all staff, located super close to the beach and surrounded by Fantastic food and activities. The hotel itself is very nice, the buffet brekfast was great, can't really fault the place. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a pool access room for 7 nights. Room was nice and spacious, pool access was fantastic. Unfortunately the pool bar did not open once during our entire stay. The weather was bad all week, but unsure why they wouldn’t not operate the bar, the only reason we booked and paid for that room. The room is nice, but walls are super thin, we could hear the couple next to us, coughing, yawning etc not nice! You can also hear every word from the noisy corridors. Our main concern was the beach entrance is totally deserted and it looks like the whole place is shut down and abandoned or about to be! Buildings are falling down, chairs, mattresses etc all laying around. Anyone off the street could walk in, there is no security at all, and walking off the street through secluded gardens with no security was a bit of a concern at night. We found the staff via emailing very helpful before our visit, and during our visit, which was fantastic. Unfortunately the staff in reception were rude and very unhelpful, they would never smile or say good morning, it was a very unwelcoming feeling. The staff on the tourist desk could not have been nicer. Flooded in one day, and not one staff member said anything at the entrance or advised any guests to what was happening. Great location, and pool areas but apart from that I would not stay there again, as a couple.

Absolutely loved our stay here, we had a pool view room! The staff are friendly & helpful, the pools were lovely, brekky buffet is amazing! The beds are comfy, and rooms are cleaned daily. We will definitely be back. đź‘Ź

We had a lovely time at the Patong Merlin Hotel. Very nice resort style hotel literally across the road from Patong Beach. Have a beer or cocktail at the swim up pool bar. Sumptuous buffet breakfast every morning and we were given a free buffet dinner every night as well. The hotel is only a short walk from Bangla Road and many shops. Staff were always friendly and accommodated late checkout without any extra cost. Looking forward to going back.

The Patong merlin is a great hotel, as evidenced by the fact that our family have been staying there almost every time in Patong. We have been going to Patong for over 20 years. On our last stay in September 2022, we did notice changes which were not good. These changes were at a senior personnel level and their apparent lack of loyalty. This lack of loyalty translated to reduced or eliminated returning client benefits. An example of this was previously when staying at the Merlin during our birthdays, we would arrive in our room to find a birthday cake. When we stayed on other occasions we would have a welcome home letter together with a basket of fruit, thanking us for returning. We also found out that the Merlin has been sold and will be undergoing renovations by the new owners. This is to take place soon and the Merlin will be "closed" What was great about the Merlin was the "regular" long-term staff, who remembered us and would do their absolute best to assist and serve us. I just hope and pray that the new owners show loyalty to those long-term staff members.

Good location handy to most things in Patong Beach area. We stayed in the deluxe pool access room and the swimming pool was amazing. Breakfast was average and basically the same thing everyday. Great air conditioning and helpful staff. Just be aware no Smart TV and one movie channel that freezes all the time. You get ABC news from Australia the rest is in Thai.

🤍beautiful hotel, very cozy, a lot of greenery, like in a tropical paradise. beautiful pools with different depths and comfortable places to relax. delicious breakfast, for a child of 10 years it was for free. the rooms are clean and comfortable. 🤍there was small disturbing things: weak pressure in the shower, window frames do not isolate from street noise (we lived opposite a rock bar with loud music). 🤍tip: if the room with“garden view”, check if this garden is in the direction of the rock bar? if so, take ear plugs with you :) 🤍in general, I liked it, I would return, but I would choose another room with a pool view

Not our first stay at the Merlin. Still the friendliest place on Patong. The hotel is looking tired (closing for renovations in April). Great location. Food is nice, but not memorable. Great pools, good breakfast selection, and wonderful staff. We will definitely look at staying again when it becomes a Marriott

Stayed here for one night back in August after reading so many positive facebook reviews. Personally I wasn't a huge fan, most of the resort was closed, not many options for the breakfast buffet and the place felt very run down. I suppose after covid they were just doing their best to open up. However, apparently the hotel is being upgraded next year. The staff were great and really friendly. Bottled water is supplied in glass bottles that get washed and re sealed. Don't trust it, I was very sick on my last day, it was the only difference in what my friend and I consumed.

Great location and staff. 4 Pools and a swim up bar. Great buffet breakfast. Short distance to Elephant sanctuary and Tiger Kingdom. Easy walk to Bangla and markets or the beach. Plenty of things to do around this location. Rooms a bit out dated but that will soon change.

Only got 1 star at the moment as the hotel is closed for renovations and will be part of new hotel group in November 2023 . They do take bookings for thereafter. I stayed there before in the new and old wing and agree that renovation was due . Great grounds , restaurant and swimming pools.

Rooms, food, service & hotel as a whole was great. The close proximity to Hard Rock Cafe who hosts a loud live band from 21h00 to the early hours of the morning every single night could be bothersome for rooms with a city view (facing Rat Uthit Song Roi Pi road on the South Easter Side of the hotel). Hotel & rooms were clean & serviced daily by smiling staff. Breakfast buffet was great and had a large variety to cater for every need. Some parts of the hotel was under construction / maintenance but did not interfere with our stay. Did not have lunch or dinner at any of the restaurants at the hotel and hence cannot comment on that. Overall - if you want a great hotel with access to the main beach, close to shops and restaurants - Merlin Hotel Patong is the place to stay. If you expect a resort vacation where you walk out onto the beach from your room and its just the sun and the sea and the breeze - stay somewhere else outside of Patong.

Good room. Great buffet. But above all, the lobby! The spacious area, sitting facilities, and the soothing color of decoration give a calming effect.

First came in 2019 and now again as I really enjoyed (the first time) the amenities such as their pools and the back door access to the sea. Although the last time I didn’t have access to a room facing the inside of the hotel (the better side), this time they placed us in a room adjacent to a steel work site with horrible views and grinding and knocking of steel from early hours in the morning. Can’t help but feel nationally profiled. Speculation of course but occupancy is nowhere near full capacity so sad to say I feel they prioritise “western” occupants. Second and last time I will be staying here.

The special feature is the beautiful surroundings with tropical plants around all the pools. The rooms are decorated in Thai style and the staff, many of whom have been here for many years, are so kind and friendly. We have returned many times and regard this place as our second home. Please don't change the ambience.

This place is awesome. A total of 4 pools, 2 have a swim up bar. The service is excellent and a buffet breakfast which was amazing. The sunset bar overlooking the sea was heavenly. Highly recommend

Hotel looking very tired, especially around corridors and lobby area. Rooms immaculately clean and these have been modernised to a very good standard. Food excellent, location excellent and the Thai people are lovely.

Arrived August 2022 & stayed for 4 weeks and from the moment we arrived it was great. The staff at reception were polite and extremely cooperative with everybody. Breakfast staff were the best of any resort that we had stayed at in our previous 8 stays in Phuket. The cleaning staff were outstanding. All of the pools were kept extremely clean all of the time. The resort location is ideal not far from everything in Pa Tong. The restaurant food in the evening was also very good ( had 6 meals ). We'll be back.

A little disappointed, most days I can smell strong illicit drug that was being smoke by other patrons from the other rooms coming in through my back door. I stay in the pool access room. Breakfast here is quiet good. Swimming pools (3) is quiet good. Laundry/dry cleaning service is good.

Great hotel Fantastic service, friendly staff. Service cleaners were brilliant, a nice clean room every day The only negative was that not all the pool bars were open, especially the sun up bar? This was provably due to being monsoon season. Apart from that everything else was awesome and we will be back again.......

Myself and my partner (24 years old) from Australia loved the Merlin. Was very cheap (for Austrian standards) the hotel was great, good gym, beautiful pool and hotel staff were lovely. Great to see Patong up and running again after COVID a lot busier than Koh Samui (very dead after covid). I would absolutely go to the Merlin again it is perfect for families, couples and singles. The room service was cheap and the deals at the time were great, thanks for a great time Merlin!! Awesome location!!

The customer service at Patong Merlin is amazing! I am yet to stay there, however they were very accommodating and were able to amend my booking with no hassle. Their communications were prompt, professional and helpful. I cannot wait to stay there!

On arrival the staff weren't very friendly but as the days went on they all were so friendly and helpful. Standard rooms are close to everything but we paid extra for a bath and ended up at the furtherest away from everything which with a baby was abit of a pain. Breakfast was good, could have a better variety daily but we still enjoyed it. Disappointed we weren't told that the spa and kids place were closed and everything up that end of patong was still closed down due to covid. Given time when things get this place would be a great place to stay. Also room service and drinks were all cheap.

Nice hotel. We stayed in the pool rooms and they were very clean and tidy. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were lovely. We only ate at the restaurant for lunch or dinner twice but the food was exceptional. They went to extra effort to make my birthday special with a room decoration. Would deffinately recommend Merlin Hotel
