First I would like to mention, that the site itself is an very interesting and important piece of history. I am very glad that it is preserved and open for the public. But I am almost shocked about the way that the Concentration Camp is abused to earn loads of Money with expensive guided tours. You have to Go with a tour If you have Not been lucky to be here early in the morning to get a Ticket to Just walk around. 15€/person is, seeing the amount of people which are here for a guided Tour, very expensive. The amount of Money earned must be much Higher than the cost of personnel and the cost of preserving the site. I think that this is very disrespectful in regard to the victims of the Holocaust. Their suffering must not be used for Profit!

This has to be one of the most impressive and touching places I have ever visited. A crazy history is being told here and I recommend everyone to visit, just to make sure we don't forget what happened here and we can hopefully make sure it never happens again. Booking a guide is highly recommended IMO. This gives you a better understanding of the place and the way it's built up.

Words can’t describe. You may have seen some productions on tv, read some books, or heard elder generations talk about it. One simply cannot understand however without standing there, being on the ground where the victims were, imagining the terror and torture they were subject to. Every human needs this experience. We, the human race have a responsibility to ensure that this or any other activity remotely likened to it to, never ever happen again.

The sites themselves were very interesting and pretty well preserved. The impressions and experiences were very intense, everyone should go there at least once in a lifetime. Managementwise it was a catastrophe. If you come to the site - like me - without any appointment, guided tour whatsoever, you're in for a sad surprise. Today the site was only open for 08 - 10am and 4 - 5pm for independent visitors. In between you can only get in there with a guided group of people, separated by language. We had no choice than get a ticket for spanish guidance (15€!), even though we don't know the language. The tour lasted an hour and a half, then we had to leave. Personally i could've spent at least 3 hours in there, in order to get as many impressions as possible. It is obvious, that the management and the touristic industry try to make money out of the sites, which would be okay, if the money would be used to preserve this historic place. But it isn't. So they make profit on the tombstones of millions of people, it's horrible. tl,dr great site, horrible management

Rest in peace for all the people who died there. We must prevent history from repeating its self! Never forget the destruction that division can bring, love is the only way. This is a really sad and emotional place

Very impacting, be ready to walk for almost 4hours at least but it’s worth the visit in every single way. It’s very important to learn about what happened here, respect their memory and understand so this won’t happen never again. Thank you for the staff were very helpful to find my group. The guides were amazing they make sure I understand everything, and answer all my questions.

I think everyone should visit this memorial site at least once in their lives. Entry is free if you wish to go without a guide, but you still need a ticket and ID to enter. Also, visiting hours without guides are only allowed after 16:00. Still, I would recommend you call in advance, because the visiting hours may change. If you wish to visit with a guide, it’s best to buy your ticket in advance. We didn’t, but still managed to get 2 tickets in our preferred language at 10:00 (we got there at 9:00). There is a restaurant near the parking spot, you can spend some time there meanwhile. There is a pretty serious security check at the entry: you cannot bring pocket knives and some other items with you, so make sure you leave them at the car/bus, along with your bigger bags. Also, you cannot bring pets along.

Until you visit this place in person, you won't feel the historic importance this place really has. It's a MUST visit location when you visit Poland.

I learned so much more than I thought I would. The stories of the past occupants and the details you don't learn about in school are incredible. Would follow advice and not recommend for children under 14.

The place where you can be a witness of inhumanity. That is was an unbearable place that you can't imagine such a thing before visiting. As soon as finishing my tour in Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, I really be sure that human is the most terrible and dangerous creature of all the times. May all souls of the victimes rest in peace 💔 🕊️

How do you rate a place like this? I think it is a must for every adult should visit and reflect on what took place during those very dark years. There is no justification for what took place here, there just isn't. Auschwitz could have been a neighborhood in other times, nearly ordered blocks... Of course the reality and inside tell the real story. Birkenau is a few kilometres away and you can take their free shuttle. This is where the triage and genocide took place... evil cannot commence to describe it. We took a train from Krakow to Auschwitz station, one and a half hours at cost of 12.50pl. it is an easy walk from there to the museum. The way back was with the bus that so right outside the museum, also 90 minutes back, and also 12.50pl. i STRONGLY recommend booking your tour, train, but online before going there. It can get busy...

Auschwitz concentration camp (German: Konzentrationslager Auschwitz) was a complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland (in a portion annexed into Germany in 1939)[3] during World War II and the Holocaust. It consisted of Auschwitz I, the main camp (Stammlager) in Oświęcim; Auschwitz II-Birkenau, a concentration and extermination camp with gas chambers; Auschwitz III-Monowitz, a labor camp for the chemical conglomerate IG Farben; and dozens of subcamps.[4] The camps became a major site of the Nazis' Final Solution to the Jewish Question.

The tour guides are very sensitive and knowledgeable. The presentation is powerful and moving. They do an excellent job of sharing the horrific story of this place. We must not forget about this place or avoid remembering this dark chapter of humanity.

When I was in school we had to write essays on Man’s Inhumanity to Man. This is somewhere everyone should visit once in your lifetime. Thoughtful, challenging at times and educational. Les by an excellent tour guide called Martin from Krakow Booking. Fully recommend. Tour from Krakow to Auschwitz and Birkenau took from 11.00 to 17.30. Really worth while. Krakow booking.com

I wont be posting any pictures. Mainly because I didn't take any through me wanting to pay my respects. Its hard to put to words the experience of visiting Aushwitz. But what I can say is that I found it very moving. Being able to walk the housing units that the people used to live in and ultimately walking into the gas chamber that was used was something unexplainable. I believe that we all should visit just to get a sense of the true horror that was witnessed in this place. The tour guides really did a great job at trying to explain and fully make you understand what had happened aswell as giving you all the facts and correcting any misconceptions that you had previously had. I thank everyone who runs the museum today for keeping the memory alive of the beautiful people who passed away.

A place that everyone should visit. Just a minor notice, the entrance must be re organised because no one knows where to go.
