Bamboo Organ Museum

Museum

👍👍 Great experience, we had our own guide that provided us information on the history of the bamboo organ. The price to enter the museum itself was cheap. Lots to learn but not a lot to see. People often mention museum, bamboo,

Museum is rather small but quite informative. It holds some valuable historical artifacts. Creating organs made of bamboo was an idea of Father Diego Cerra, as a way of saving money. He started work on the organs in 1816 and they were completed in 1824. Currently the organs have 902 bamboo pipes and 129 metal ones. They can be heard during scheduled Sunday mass or during the Bamboo Organ Festival which is usually held in February. The entrance to the museum costs 200 PHP per person and includes guided tour through the museum and the visit to the gallery to see the organs up close. The museum is actually more interesting than we thought. Highly recommended.

Despite going there on a Sunday, the church was closed. We just took picture from the outside. Not much to offer.
