(Translated by Google) Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, this is one of my favorite parks for nearly 40 years from youth to middle age, with convenient transportation, light food, and food shopping materials (South Gate Market, East Gate Market). I'll be here if I'm not careful, especially during this period of March and March in the mixed peanut tree. It just happens to be in full bloom. The winding surrounding wall is like a great man who kept the safe distance from the crowd deliberately. The stairway to the church is as high as possible, and the blue roof cover floating in the clouds is as high as the sky. And; I often ask my peers who, except watching their figures in the national anthem, are lucky to be in the toilet? If the buildings and the surrounding landscape are in line with their charms, it is really not false!

I was initially going to pass on visiting this place but I’m so happy we came. I learned so much about Taiwan, the culture of the people and their long fight for democracy by visiting this place. Up until then I have only known bits and pieces from what I’ve seen on American news etc. This memorial is massive. You can spend an entire day there. There is so much to see. They even had radio tours which i recommended although I didn’t have time to participate. We spent over an hour and didn’t even come close to seeing what this memorial had to offer. I recommend! Also, try to come on the hour and see the military/police exchange. Such a beautiful experience.

Very impressive monument. Do try to catch the hourly guard changing ceremony in the vast hall. There is an excellent exhibition space on the ground floor, which also houses a post office, several gift shops, toilets and a snack kiosk.

What a great memorial hall park secluded in the middle of an ever busy city. The center piece of the hall is flanked by two traditional Chinese building structures. Entering into the park, I was met with a wide open space. After an hour or so covering most of the park ground, I thought this is just what the residents of a overcrowded city need during any day in the week to enjoy a short walk in a winding path through a carefully arranged garden dotted with trees and flower beds; or to reserve admission to art exhibition or performing in one of the two traditional Chinese building structures; or to stroll along the not-too-long corridor along the side of the garden. It's not like the other parks that are always filled with people, pets, bicycles, sounds from children playing and loud noises from motorcycles zooming by. Seemingly the walls around the park were not there to barricade, but to create a peaceful land for people to come enjoy. Although the size and surroundings cannot be compared to those of the Lincoln Memorial or Constitution Gardens in the US, but I found the same feeling of solace, tranquility or whatever you could describe the calm state of your mind pacing myself in this park. I wish the park authority could replace some of those cold cement slab in the square into some warm green lawn.

One of the must-visit destination and tourist spot when you’re in Taipei city! Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall is a unique building designed monumentally with the characteristic of the dome and a beautiful setting. When you’re here, you can watch the honorable guard changing every hour, and then take a look at all the exhibition not only the history of Chiang Kai Shek but also the history of Taiwan, together with many other exhibitions can make you spend hours in here. The outside area around the memorial hall is Zhongzheng park with a harmonious garden design. Walking in the premises, visitors will admire the unique and traditional garden style. In addition, the park is free for public and of course the best place for people from senior to junior to gather, enjoying the spacious and pleasant space. But not only that, located within the memorial site is the National Concert Center and the National Theatre. These are two outstanding projects in the campus. The place is chosen have attracted many art exhibitions, outdoor performances, drama, dance on weekends, as well as international performance every year.

One of the most grand sites you will see when visiting Taipei. The traditional Chinese architecture is on full display when you stand in the middle of this monument and see the vast structures around you. I’ve been here many times and it is still amazing to see the grandeur of the place. There aren’t a ton of buildings in Taipei with traditional Chinese style architecture, but this is one of the best.

Such a grand and awe inspiring memorial. It has a meditative ambience which can be very calming. By sheer luck, I stumbled on the guard changing ceremony which was really cool. The views from the memorial are also quite pretty. The surrounding area is worth exploring as the other buildings are beautifully designed as well, including the gates.

Definitely must visit when in Taipei. There’s the change of guards which should not be missed. Beneath the monument is a big museum. That is worth visiting. Definitely a must. There’s lifts if you cannot walk up the stairs.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei is an impressive landmark. The building is grand, with white walls and blue roofs. Inside, you can discover Taiwan’s history. The surrounding park is pleasant, perfect for a leisurely walk. Don’t miss the changing of the guard—it’s quite interesting. If you enjoy history and want to see a significant site in the city, this is a must-visit.

Best experience when I was visiting here about a year ago. Very clean and nice historical places to learn about Taiwan especially for tourist. I've been told Taiwan is one of the safest place to visit. Indeed, there alot of CCTV can be found almost everywhere. I can say, safer than Singapore. No offence. This is my second visit and it is recommended.

One of the well-known tourist attractions in Taipei City which can easily arrived by MRT (the station name is the same as the scenic spot). It has a huge square and small bridges and flowing water. An excellent place for walking and leisure. Usually, there will be a guard handover ceremony at the hour every day. Should not be missed!

A very suggestive place. It's good to read about Taiwan's history before sightseeing. The complex is large, connected to a park and many other buildings. Worth seeing. Every one hour you can see changing the guards, worth to see, nice place for walk and meet some history about Taiwan

The changing of the guard was impressive to see but by the end of it, I was in need of A/C. After a drink downstairs, I was ready for the audio tour. It focused on the freedom fighters. Some of the stories were quite moving. The English audio didn't always match up with the displays which were entirely in Chinese for the first half. It would have been nice to learn about Chiang's life in chronological order.

On of the places in Taiwan never to be missed. Reminds me a little bit of China’s Beijing and such an iconic place to be in. Take as much pictures as you can and get access in most buildings free of charge. Change of guards ceremonies happen every hour by the hour so make sure not to miss that as it’s a performance you will never forget. Once done, try to visit the galleries in Level 1 to gain knowledge from Taiwan’s impressive history and the bravery of its people.

The experience of witnessing the changing of the guards at this historic site was truly captivating. The precision and ceremony of the event were impressive. The landmark itself holds rich cultural and historical significance. While it's a definite must-see, I would have rated it 5/5 if there were more informational signs or guided tours to provide deeper insights into its history. Nonetheless, a visit here is highly recommended for anyone exploring Taipei!

What a gorgeous day... 28°, Sunny, light breeze and a truly ch'an place to visit!! A unique, piece of architecture, surrounded by vast peaceful and picturesque grounds right in the heart of the city. Visiting after the Taiwanese 🇹🇼 National Day and seeing all the flags bordering the exquisite gardens made the view even more special! Make sure you take the time to watch the changing of the gaurd (at the top of every hour) it is well worth it, the soldiers put on an amazing show! Enjoy!

Although the weather when I went was really cloudy, the place still looked amazing. Tons of places to walk around in and you can freely choose between spending time inside the main building or resting at the gardens outside (where less people walk by). Locals use the area to exercise, the environment is clean, and there are tons of souvenirs to choose from. Definitely consider coming if you have around two free hours in your schedule, it's right next to the bus stops.

Majestic place to visit. There are exhibitions at the building on the sides of the parade square. Good to come earlier in the day, less crowded and not too warm.. Change of guard ceremony happens every hour. Take time to enjoy the garden around the vicinity too! There's sakura trees at the back garden of the memorial hall and the signs show that they bloom in January each year

Visiting the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall was a delightful experience! Huge beautiful buildings on your right and left( theater and concert hall) and in the middle is the memorial itself. As a very important part of Taiwanese history a very interesting museum is situated underneath the memorial to explain its meaning! At the back there are wonderful cherry blossom gardens and quiet parks with a quiet nature-like atmosphere! A must see in Taipei!

Sean was our private tour guide from "Let's Go Formosa". Sean's English is perfect as he studied in the USA for several years. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all the tourist sites, as well as the historical, cultural, and political aspects of Taiwan. He relayed some lesser known tidbits about the Plaza and Memorial. He is upbeat and enthusiastic, and obviously loves being a guide. During our two days with him, we felt like we learned a lot about the country, but didn't feel like he overburdened us with information. He is a very good driver and took us to local 'gems'. At the same time, he seemed genuinely interested in a number of topics of interest to us. All in all, if you have the opportunity to ask for Sean for guiding, do it!!

Famous tourist place and still need to visit if you are in Taipei. Will be mesmerized on how massive the structures, especially when you are in the area compared to see it in pictures and videos. Ensure you stay for the hourly change of guards, timing your movement well if you want to have the best view since it will be packed with people. Easy to commute since it has own MRT station for this hall.

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a famous national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Taipei. The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square. It is flanked on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall. The Memorial Hall is white with four sides. The roof is blue and octagonal, a shape that picks up the symbolism of the number eight, a number traditionally associated in China with abundance and good fortune. Two sets of white stairs, each with 89 steps to represent Chiang's age at the time of his death, lead to the main entrance. The ground level of the memorial houses a library and a museum documenting Chiang Kai-shek's life and career, with exhibits detailing Taiwan's history and development. The upper level contains the main hall, in which a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek is located, and where a guard mounting ceremony takes place at regular intervals.

It’s free to check out and the changing of the guard is rather cool. It’s very grand and easy to get to. The changing of the guard happens on the hour, but I recommend at least coming 10 mins before it starts as you can imagine it draws a large crowd. Other then that, you can also check the exhibition below the memorial hall and learn about the leader himself and Taiwan’s history. Maybe it’s just me but I was expecting a little bit more, and I was done in 60 mins. Afterwards I walked to Din Tai Fung which was convenient; only a 15 mins walk.

Always a great place to visit when in Taipei. Chill park on the side with benches to kick back and relax and enjoy nature. Come early (9am) to see the doors open to the hall and witness the changing of the guards, and get a close up view of the monument. There are also museums/galleries at the 3rd and 1st floor worth visiting especially during summer when it is scorching hot outside. Highly recommended.

It was the first place I visited in Taipei, and I was amazed at the intricate details of the buildings. I went there mid-July, in the afternoon. It was very hot and humid that I decided not to go inside the memorial hall anymore. I had a good view from the distance. I highly recommend that you visit here when it’s not summer so you can stroll around the place without passing out from the heat. Sans heat and the glaring summer sun, the entire complex was truly beautiful. Very clean too!

Nicely built construction with exhibitions inside. Easily reached by foot from main station, you can spend at most an hour here. There are some gorgeous gardens outside and a few sporadic exhibits from different artists. There is barely any information in English so that might diminish the experience a bit. Overall, it’s a must while in Taipei and it won’t take too much of your time

Had fun roaming around CKS even on a hot day. They have vending machines around the compound so you can get refreshments. Very cool to see this masterpiece of architecture and also learn about a bit of Taiwan’s history. Was also very cool to see the guard changing. They do it every hour and it’s very interesting to see. They also had a pond area with fishes birds and where locals chill to enjoy the afternoon breeze and paint.

From a foreign perspective, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and its surroundings are amazingly majestic. It's an incredible cultural landmark to visit when in Taipei. It has a walkable, clean, and very calming park near it where you can watch birds and turtles. There are also refreshments sold at a vending machine after that long walk.

Free attraction, combined with a trip to Taipei 101. Watching the guard change was a really good experience. People were waiting 15 minutes before the change so get there in time to have a good view. Allowing half a day is more than enough time. You can feed the fish at the pond, we also saw a kingfisher and crane finishing from the pond.

It’s a really impressive landmark and probably one of the most famous ones in Taipei. Went there on a really sunny and warm day so it’s recommendable to bring a sun umbrella to take photos from the outside or to take a stroll around the courtyard. The changing of the guards every full hour is really impressive. Because of the stairs and the crowd I’d go upstairs a little early so you don’t have to hurry up the stairs. At the ground floor (which has ac) some souvenir shops and also some galleries and exhibition.

One of the best places in Taiwan! If you come to Taipei, Don't missed out this beautiful place! ❤️❤️❤️

  • 5/5 Bob C. 3 years ago on Google
This building houses a permanent exhibition on Chiang Kai-shek along with spaces for exhibitions and lectures. The CKS exhibition is free with other exhibitions costing in the region of $350 each. They have recently updated the CKS exhibition to make it a bit less dry. It focuses on his life from birth to death and contains both personal items and awards. There is quite a lot to get through and thankfully (for me anyway) most of it is presented in English and Chinese. If you enjoy history it’s a interesting look at someone who was clearly a complex man with a somewhat controversial role in the history of China and Taiwan.

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (Chinese: 國立中正紀念堂) is a famous national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei. The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square. It is flanked on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall

  • 4/5 Đức Trọng B. 3 years ago on Google
Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, this memorial hall was built in 1976. After a year of death of Mr. Chiang Kai-Shek. This is one of the places where almost everyone came to Taipei to visit here. The area behind me you see is the main gate, there is a gate of 16m high and weighs 75 tons, the two sides are the national theater and national concert house. And frond of me is the memorial area. To walk up there and visit inside, you have to go through exactly 89 steps is the age of Chiang Kai-Shek. White color is the symbol of the sun, the blue tile roof symbolizes for the blue sky. The architecture of this memorial hall is according to Chinese architecture. When going inside, you will see the Mr. Chiang Kai-Shek statue is in the middle. And above the statue, there are 6 words. Those 6 words mean Ethics, Democracy, and Science symbolize his way when he led Taiwan. He is one of the people who was respected by the people of Taiwan but in return, the Chinese government hated him much because in the past he was on the reform, democratic side. On the top of the roof is a white sun image on the blue sky, this is also the picture in Taiwan's flag. And 12 rays of light come from the sun, symbolizes 12 months of the year or 12 hours per day. There are many deeper meanings but I don't mention it here the basic meaning is that. The remarkable thing here is changing the working shift ceremony. They make fast, steady and extremely precise movements. The changing shift will take about more than 10 minutes and will perform once every 1 hour. At the bottom of the memorial is the area the same as the museum to display tools and costumes that Chiang Kai-shek used when he was alive as well as pictures of Chiang Kai-shek activities in the past. And I think it quite similar to Ho Chi Minh memorial hall in Ha Noi, they both impressed me with these two famous people.

On both sides of the permeable trail from the hall to Xinyi Road and Jiaomen on Hangzhou South Road is the native cherry blossom area of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park. There are currently more than 50 mountain cherry blossoms (also known as Feihan Sakura) Sakura belongs to Rosaceae (Rosaceae), Prunus (Prunus) in plant classification, with 5 petals and many stamens. There are about 200 species of Plum in the world, mainly distributed in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, and there are about 10 species in Taiwan. Taiwan is located in the subtropical zone, and most of the common varieties are those that can withstand high temperatures. Among them, the mountain cherry is the most common and the most representative cherry blossom in Taiwan.

In addition to many years of political issues arguing about whether to continue to commemorate the dictator Chiang Kai-shek, this memorial park is a place worth walking, especially the large square inside, the pools and the tree-lined trails next to it. A famous memorial hall in taipei that remembering the first president of TAIWAN. it's a great place for a tourist or local families to bring the children's to a knowledge about the Taiwan history.

  • 5/5 David S. 2 years ago on Google
One of the most beautiful landmarks of Taipei. In spite of the controversy of the name, it's totally worth visiting. The memorial is in the middle of a huge esplanade, flanked by the national theatre and the national concert hall. All of those structures simulate beautiful traditional Chinese pagodes. Furthermore, the memorial as well as the other structures are surrounded by a beautiful garden with sculptures so it is perfecto to just go and relax by walking across it. The memorial hall stores indoors a museum about Chiang Kai Sheik life's as well as Taiwan's history. It's a must go if you are in the country, and the views are gorgeous. I highly recommend to book in advance tickets to watch a performance in the theater or listen to a Chinese traditional concert.

Impressive both outside and in with gardens and architecture and just vastness while maintaining so much detail. The permanent exhibits inside were very interesting and the temporary ones were varied. I didn't realize how many things would be going on there, so I didn't plan enough time, but really enjoyed the area.

This national monument of Taiwan has a grand memorial hall with beautiful gardens and a well-kept compound! Chiang Kai-Shek Memories Hall is a must-visit destination in Taipei. It is a popular tourist attraction in Taiwan. The place is huge and it was lovely to take a stroll and to explore the beautiful gardens. The changing of guards is one of the main attractions which take place every hour. It was a good experience to witness the ceremony.

Huge "park" that is open to the public for free. It has three main buildings, the national theatre, national concert hall and the memorial hall. I only managed to climb up the memorial hall (about 100 steps) to take a photo of the statue. If you want to view the guards change out parade, it happens at every hour. A nice place to visit and chill if you have nothing much to do.

  • 4/5 Eizen B. 11 months ago on Google
Hard not to notice this commanding attraction at the heart of Taipei. Each side has a marvelous architecture. There are also restaurants inside. It’s one of those Taipei attractions that you can easily visit on your own, not prompting you to book through an agency or a travel website in advance.

A must visit for anyone visiting Taipei. It isn't difficult to get to with great photo opportunities. There's also changing of the guard ceremony on the hour every hour from 9am to 5pm. Definitely an experience witnessing the whole ceremony.

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, named after the first president of the Republic of China (now Taiwan), is a can't miss attraction in Taipei. It's not only a group of impressive buildings, but a splendid garden and place to relax. The bronze statue of the man is also very striking, and if you come at the right time, you can see the changing of the guard ceremony. This is a place that should take you a few hours to see and to take in. Take your time.

An eye opener. Definitely a tourist spot to visit once. And the gardens along side of the memorial are relaxing to hang out in and perhaps have a picnic or a light jog. Just to add the changing of the guards was a nice few minutes of show.

This complex is beautiful and well worth a visit. The gardens are well kept and the buildings and memorial simply magnificent. So worth a visit! I'd recommend a stroll around the premises as it is so peaceful and pretty. Great spot to take photos too. The changing of the guard at CKS's memorial is impressive, taking place every hour at the half-hour, if memory serves me well.

  • 4/5 Marc J. 8 months ago on Google
It's a huge complex with 3 major buildings surrounded by trees. Changing of guards happens every hour. There's a "mall" below that mostly sells souvenirs. There is also a stamp station, but they don't provide any paper, also most of the time the ink is dried up. No entrance fee is needed.

  • 5/5 Elvis H. 8 months ago on Google

  • 5/5 Eli K. 5 months ago on Google
Very cool architecture along with a beautiful park. The bottom floors host art exhibits that are worth checking out. In the main hall you can catch the changing of the guard every hour. A bit interesting though when thinking about the history. It is similar to having statues of Mussolini in Italy or Franco in Spain. A whole massive park dedicated to a dictator. Most countries have history that is not all sunshine but I’d be interested in making it a memorial to those who lost there lives under the brutal dictatorship. That being said Taiwan is far from the worst offending country when it comes to facing its past.

Could spend forever in the exhibits on the bottom floor learning about 中正, such an interesting guy. I've been a few times, seen the guard change many times as well, always very cool. But the ting that always impresses me is the shrouding gardens, so amazingly beautiful, also you can buy koi food and feed the fish, such a nice experience

  • 5/5 Alex S. 4 months ago on Google
Fantastic monument to visit. On your must do list. From opening until closing at every full hour there's a change of guard. Do not miss that as it is indeed something you should see during your visit. Easily accessible via MRT and bus service.
