It has just enough bite to it and was acceptable. There are plenty of cashiers to take you for payment. While departing, it might be hard to find a place to sit, as all flights tend to depart around the same time and others may have already occupied the limited available space.

Horrendously overpriced, both for Iceland standards AND airport standards. Worse than school cafeteria food, and this is coming from American (who by default has a low standard for food). 890 KR for two slices of white bread and a piece of cheese? (just over $7) Absolutely insane. I finally settled on something resembling a cheeseburger. I had heard Iceland prices were quite high, but when I looked up a menu to a highly rated burger joint in the nearby town, I was dismayed to find that their prices for GOURMET burgers were LOWER than the airport price for the rubber burger. Thankfully I still had some snacks from the ferry in Finland earlier that day, and I ate all of those to hold off my hunger (rubber burger didn't help) until my return flight, some hours later. I had very high hopes for Iceland, but the airport food was QUITE disappointing. I do hope to return, however, to eat in the towns.

Absolutely awful place, giving them 2 stars on the basis that the parfait was nice. But the full English breakfast was horrible and inedible, plus very expensive. Serving staff were quite rude and threw the food towards us. No deviating from the menu, all I wanted was beans on toast but was told if it wasn’t on the board, it wasn’t offered. No issue with that but the tone in which it was said was disgusting.

Very limited choice for hot food and only one vegan option. Had to wait until one of the two members of staff behind the counter acknowledged my presence. Food was ok but not amazing. Had difficulty finding a table as many passengers were using the seating to wait for their flight. Several tables became available once a flight departure was announced. Airport does not restrict the use of the dining areas so I imagine would be much worse during busy times.

I had a fantastic experience at Mathus in Keflavik airport. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The food we had was simple but good (some fish & chips and a vegan burger), also offering a variety of options to satisfy different tastes. The cozy atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of my visit. I highly recommend stopping by Mathus for a delightful dining experience before your flight.

The food handling during my visit this morning was terrible. The man serving the food was also cutting up boxes with a knife and folding them, putting the packing boxes on food prep surfaces and handling food. He never washed his hands or changed his gloves. Totally inappropriate food safety standards right in the view of consumers. I noticed this upon departure. Hopefully I don’t get ill on the plane.

$65 American dollars for 2 breakfasts. Despicable. The food was disgusting...like it has been left out for a week then put in the microwave on high for 10 minutes. Not to mention, the gross atmosphere of blaze and uninterested staff, bad lighting and extreme prices for worse than canned dog food. When you are jet lagged and have no other choice for a hot meal, just starve. The coffee was terrible. It was burnt and awful sour.

Regular airport food. Service was slightly slow. Alcohol options and vegetarian options. A few dessert options as well. The carrot cake was decent.

For airport food, this is above average. Sure, it’s expensive. But the food is good and the selection is great. The fish and chips is a bit over breaded and soggy. You can buy a lot of drinks and snacks too. There is self checkout and the entire store is flat so it’s wheel- friendly. Great selection of different souvenirs too like flavored salts and fish jerky (Icelandic specialty). I hope everyone stops by here if you’re in the airport

The food was just edible - but if I would have time, probably I would have ask for a refund. The fish looked like somebody already took a bite - check the photo and definitely was not fresh. The sauce was disgusting and it was not the seasoning. I can deal with strong seasoning. Those were just bad. They take advantage the fact that customers just passing by, they don't need to return. If you can avoid the place, do - east somewhere else or just stay hungry.

Got robbed in broad daylight here. £45 for two salads a drink and a snack. The food was absolutely disgusting and completely inedible, and there was sand in the salad leaves within my salad. Definitely give it a miss, I would have preferred to just starve

Delicious but a little pricey for what it is - as far as airport food goes, it’s pretty good!

By far the worst food I had in Iceland and in any airport ‘restaurant’ world wide. The cheese burger is absolutely tasteless, the fries are soft, salt less and fatty. The staff is screaming over the counter. It’s expensive like everything is Iceland but usually you get some quality. Not at this place. Avoid it. If this is your only option, better to stick with a Candy bar than eating their ‘food’. I should have read the reviews before making this decision to eat here. It’s a surprise the average score is still a 2,4.

Nothing really spoke to me or looked too fresh. I was here at 6 AM but clearly nothing was made this morning.

I love Iceland ❤️! But Mathús is just airport food. I order the fish and chips here and my biggest complaint is NOT the price but the overcooked fish. There was too much breading on the fish and it was fried too long it was almost burnt. However the staff was moving quickly and they were kind given how busy it was they were still very efficient.

You can find average and decent burgers. It is unreasonably pricey. Probably the most expensive burger I’ve had in my life.

No hot dogs available, half of what is in the pictures is wrong. The chicken burger was really hard and the chips were cold, even though we ate immediately, the favour was okay but the chicken was solid, pretty disappointing given it was £18.

Had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs. Eggs were watery. Toast very hard. Avocado was brown. That being said, 2 star cuz it didn't taste horrible, even though it didn't look good.

Signs with "Pancakes with berry sauce" are all over here. I waited in line for twenty minutes to be told "we don't serve pancakes". Seriously? They guys behind the counter are hard working, but they need to work on the signs.

2 cause I was hungry and anything would have sufficed. The food was average, but the price was ridiculous for what you got, not worth it at all AVOID. Get something elsewhere. Next is the service quality there is an ego in the chefs there and failing to undstand any courtesies and serviceability. Your pay system is horrendousad is not any faster, what is the point if its not quicker. Cause then there is staff members that have as much charisma as a damp rag just mellowing to themselves as if it were gossip girl in the corner. Sack half of them or improve your system, take your pick. Price and staff deplorable please sort this out.

Food safety alert: Your chicken burgers served to us on 5/9/22 at 2pm gave both my partner and I food poisoning. Symptoms came on like clockwork, 3-5 hours after eating. Fast forward 2 long haul flights of vomiting and awful diarrhoea and 3 days later we are still feeling the effects. We had not eaten anything all day beforehand, and haven't had a solid meal since, so don't you dare try and blame it on anything else. You need to seriously step up your game or risk this happening to anyone else (if it hasn't already).

the reviews here seem too harsh, but maybe it's based on what you order. we got the burger and chicken sandwich, and both were fine. Filled our bellies before a long flight home.

Bought a cheeseburger and chips, and on eating the burger, found the centre to be pink and uncooked. When speaking to staff, I was informed the burger was medium and refused a refund. Poor food and poor service.

Food was terrible, I had the burger, same with my dad and sister. My dad's burger was raw, completely pink, he went up to get a refund, but they said it was "medium rare"?

👍👍 Elda had the best fries I had in Iceland! My friend and I were still in search for a good burger and fish and chips after a week of travel in Iceland, and the truffle burger and fish and chips at Elda came in clutch like Derrick White in Game 6. 😠 If you're staying at the hotel and you're hungry, walk the 300m to eat at the airport. The service and food here are terrible.
