Products are first class if not a little pricey. Female staff members attitude leaves a lot to be desired. You apparently can't browse you need to know what you want before you go through the door. Great if you're the only person in otherwise you are not allowed anywhere near the counter.and God forbid if she sees you're not standing on the feet!!!!

One of the best hot pork sandwiches I've ever had. Delicious and bursting with meat, stuffing, crackling and apple sauce. The selection of meats and deli offerings looked incredible, no wonder there was a queu down the street. The Christmas menu looks great too, although get your booking in quick, they've taken orders for 500 turkeys already! Very friendly staff and a very well laid out shop. Highly recommend a visit.

Today I saw this butcher's and bought a hot pork and stuffing bun, I also bought a steak pie. I got a pork bun and a mince pie for my workmate. The pork bun was really nice and filling too, there was generous amount of pork and tasty stuffing. I had to wait about an hour before I could tackle the steak pie. It was very tasty with good size chunks of steak and the gravy was also nice. The best steak pie I've had for a long time. Friendly staff and a very clean and tidy shop with a lot of various items on display. A great shop. I'll be back next time I'm in the area. The man in orange.!

Family owned and managed by third generation of the Nicolson family member. This business is Licensed to sell game and poultry. All meat and poultry locally bought and sold on to their loyal customers. Well worth paying the extra as quality counts.

WOW! Fantastic selection and display of everything you could possibly need to make a meal just for yourself, your family or dinner party and of course a bbq. The variation and quality of meat products is outstanding. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Well done to you all.

I can only describe my experience as excellent . I ordered via email for a delivery (though they also do a contactless collection) in these days this is an amazing service. In addition to their “normal” shop we ordered a large steak pie and Kathryn checked I had ordered the right pie. And it turned out I hadn’t so we clarified on the phone perfectly. It was warm when it arrived - there is something amazing about a warm pie. Yum!! We also ordered lovely sliced ham which was amazing. Scrumptious bacon. And for my hubby a large cartmel sticky toffee pie. I recommend you look on their website or Facebook for the menu. We will be ordering again soon as in these extremely difficult and challenging times I have found the service exemplary and I am so grateful. Huge thanks, Cheryl

Was excited to go here but the woman managing the queue out front was so surprisingly rude. I’d been watching some people get in the click and collect queue and others go right into the shop so when I was ready I walked up to the door, looking around for direction in case I’d understood the situation wrong. Well turns out I had because the woman begins aggressively questioning me about what I think I’m doing and then tells me to “get in line *like everyone else*” as if she though I was trying to game the system. It seemed so unnecessarily personal and to call someone out so aggressively in front of a queue of people… Merry Christmas… That felt terrible. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. There’s no need to treat people like that.

Popped in whilst on holiday for some breakfast bits...pork and leek sausages and home made black pudding. Also picked up a couple of caramelised onion scotch eggs. Wow, best scotch egg I've ever eaten, crispy, moist sausage meat and delicious onion flavour. Sausages were great as well as was the black pudding. Will definitely go back on our next trip to the North East .

I contacted Nicholson's about catering a birthday party. I dealt with Kathryn who was absolutely amazing. She gave me a choice of multiple different options and she listened to the type of thing I was after. We negotiated on a price which was so much more reasonable than I thought it was going to be. I loved the fact that they also sourced local seafood from North Shields and included that in the buffet. On the day we just went to pick it up and everything was presented beautifully on solid wood platters. All we had to do was unwrap them and put them on the table. The food itself was incredible and everyone said how delicious it was. I can't thank Kathryn and the Nicholson team enough and I really hope (Covid depending) we can order from there for Christmas.

Excellent products and especially great pies, however I’m not alone in reporting that this butchers have the most miserable, rude staff I’ve ever encountered. It’s very clear that the men, who are obviously family members and allowed to behave in this way, have no customer care skills. I’d advise you all to go elsewhere for a better experience

At 53 ive had a lot of pies.however the steak and ale was amazing all meat no air cheers .really i just wished id had the patience to warm it up.

Ordered from the barbecue brochure for an office BBQ for 30 people. Sarah was a great help with how much food to order. Hired the barbecue drum, equipment and ordered the charcoal/ lighter fluid, it was fantastic. Would highly recommend as it makes it easier for you. Everything was delivered when it was agreed so we could have it up and running for lunchtime. Could not fault the food. We will be ordering again. Tasty burgers, sausages, chicken kebabs (so good) also a few extra sides and we ordered veg options for none meat eaters. Thank you to Sarah and the team at Nicholson butchers. I would like to thank Sarah and her team at Nicholsons for great food and customer service they provided for my 60th birthday. When placing my order Sarah was more than happy to amend sandwiches on the platters I ordered to meet my requests and was helpful throughout. She gave me clear instructions for collecting the order as sadly they don't deliver to South Shields, fingers crossed for the future. All the food looked amazing when we laid it out on the table. All fresh & homemade sausage rolls, pre-cut ham & egg and corned beef pie's which were huge and tasted lovely. Best corned beef pie I've had. Everyone thought the sandwiches were all delicious prawn, tikka and especially their home cooked ham & peas pudding and ham & coleslaw. The coleslaw was especially nice with a great taste & crunch, I wish I'd ordered some for myself. I could go on about the quiches, the meat platter, charcuterie and cheese all from Nicholsons trusted suppliers that were all great and there was PLENTY of everything 👍 👍 👌 I would without any shadow of a doubt use Nicholsons again for any occasion and would have NO hesitation in recommending Nicholsons to anyone. Again well done to Sarah & her team and a big THANK YOU from me & my wife for helping to make my 60th birthday a day we'll not forget. Have been shopping here regularly since covid and super impressed with customer service and quality. The only issue I have is, at times I ask for the lamb to be cut to small pieces but it is never small enough. I wrestle out the big pieces with bone and sometimes give up. More of a personal preference I think but overall great butchers.

We're so lucky to have such a quality, skilled butcher! Have ordered many things, most recently the Christmas stuff - it was phenomenal! The turkey was beautiful and those pigs in blankets! The whole team are incredibly helpful, can help with whatever you're working on and can help prepare whatever you need.
