Awesome Mcmenamins charm in a cozy older building. Great place to hang and get food / drinks. Staff are awesome and responsive.

Cute location for yummy food and drinks! Personally, if I am in the area, I prefer to go the the Thompson Brewery and Public House. I love all Mcmenamins locations, but Thompson House is So Great! Every Mcmenamins is Unique, and at least at the Boons Treasury you get to see the Telegram from Herbert Hoover.

I will all McMenamins locations they have never failed me. Simple menu great food high-quality does not skimp on flavor and anyway. Great beer all the! This McMenamins is definitely on the smaller side but they definitely have lots of room for people without feeling crowded.

Love the patio area, especially with the fire. I really enjoyed the cider flight, all were great and for the price it is a fantastic deal. I wish they had more appetizer options, like a cheese & meat board, brussles, maybe just a veggie plate. We would have had a few more drinks and enjoyed the patio longer had they had more options for appetizers. The patio ambiance is so nice but it would be even better if they had music playing. It would help with the street noise. The sandwich was great, I love turkey and cranberry. 😋 My husband really enjoyed the burger, the patty was a little over cooked though.

After making many visits to mcmenamins around Oregon, this one was pretty disappointing. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the service was very disappointing. We walked in with our twin boys in arms needing two high chairs, both boys cannot walk yet so putting them down to grab a high chair was out of question. We struggled to grab our own high chair for each baby and then moved furniture around so we could all sit down. It wasn’t until we had basically settled in that we were offered help. We ordered our drinks and both drinks were flat and the lemonade was basically water in which the waiter noticed and replaced right away. No big deal. Unfortunately, our twins were having a moment and it was best to pack up and leave. At this point we had already ordered, so the best thing we thought would be to pay for our food and asked for it to be boxed. Waiting inside for our food, it became apparent to us that they hadn’t even started our order. If that was the case we would’ve appreciated them telling us so we didn’t have to wait for food while our kids cried. But we waited because we paid for that hadnt been made yet. The food was less than average and disappointing. But what really topped it off was the bug in our sandwich. As a mom and I’m sure many other moms understand how frustrating this can be given the scenario.

Food took a while to come and service was not amazing. The tater tots were overcooked enough that they were uncomfortable to eat (too crispy) and the burger was cooked all the way through, without previously requested. Good lemonade, though!

Overall Score: 36/50 (3 stars feels more accurate) Cleanliness: I honestly can't speak to this one as much because the space is SO dark. I'm sure it's clean, so I won't rate it too harshly, but the decor and environment really make it feel dirty. (7/10) Service: Nothing stands out about the service, but it wasn't bad either. Timely and the servers had a good attitude. Keep in mind, I went when there were very few people at the restaurant... (8/10) Quality: As far as beer selection goes, I would say it's decent, but I'm not a huge fan of the rest. Appetizers and entrees are just decent in my opinion. 🤷🏼‍♂️ (7/10) Environment: This could be massively improved. It's dark, disjointed decor, and not super inviting. (7/10) Uniqueness: Oddly enough, it is unique, but not necessarily in ways that makes me want to recommend it to friends as a primary option. The price, experience, and options make me think there are better places to go. (7/10)

Burgers tasted fresh but plain could of used a tad bit more seasoning. The fries were crisp and hot, excellent. The buns on the burgers are my only complaint. They were overly soggy. Other than that good little place downtown. Menu isn't very big but thats not a bad thing. :) UPDATE: Food made me sick :(

The food was up to it's usual good standards. We always enjoy the excellent selection of beer. I had the "Little Tart Sour", very tasty. The service was very friendly & efficient. I always enjoy leaning about the interesting history of the buildings & Boon's Treasury was no exception.

Reliably tasty, if somewhat mediocre, food. Service good at this location. Half-portion of the Aztec salad has become much smaller since I last ordered it several months back.

McMenamins Boon's Treasury is a wonderful restaurant in Salem. They have indoor and outside seating, music, and a wonderful menu and beverage selection. McMenamins Boon's Treasury has excellent customer service; our meal was perfectly prepared and served. Do yourself a favor and give McMenamins Boon's Treasury a try; you will not be disappointed! One of my favorite places for comfort food and atmosphere. It is so cozy at any and all McMenamins locations and the servers are always A+! I love the warm, inviting locations unlike many 5 star restaurants where I'm sooo cold and can't enjoy the food. I get so cold that I can't warm up until hours later at home. McMenamins is never like that. I'm warm with all of the cozy fireplaces abundant at all locations. This is like my second home!

This was such an unexpected surprise! McMenamins are all about atmosphere, but this location was perfect. We sat in the patio, ordered drinks and food, and spent about an hour there. Our waitress was wonderful. Suggested drinks to try, brought everything out with a smile, and recommended we try a few shareable dishes. I smile remembering this day!

This is a cozy, small village like, McMenamins. Easy parking, nice team members, fire pits, indoor outdoor eating, and fresh delicious McMenamins make this an awesome location. Such beautiful lighting throughout! Daniel Read IV

I can see why people would like this but it's not my style. That doesn't mean it deserves anything less than five stars though. Lots of live music that is really loud and decent food. There's also a fire pit in the back which is kind of cool to help you get away from the loud sounds. ?

My wife and I stopped here on a Friday early evening, and they have a very nice, completely shaded outdoor seating area. We asked to sit out there due to having our 2 small dogs with us, and the server gladly changed out the dog water bowl with fresh cool water. They are staffed well, as we were helped by 2 alternating servers. Both were very friendly and attentive, and knew the menu well. We ordered the onion rings to start, and my wife ordered the Goddess salad and fries. We should have ordered a small fries because the large was enough for 3 people! The O-rings were delicious, perfect golden brown, and the fries were as well; fresh hand punched. Soup of the day was clam chowder, which I recommend as I got a bowl, and it was house made as well. 4 stars because my wife went into the bathroom, and it was our of toilet paper, dirty and very small. Other than that, the food and service was exvellent!

Stopped in with a friend for holiday cocktails and dessert. Absolutely beautiful building!

Just came for the Ruby Ale this time 🤩🍺 But this place is magical! There’s so many enchanted little details and a great vibe. The food is dialed in, and of course the drinks are wide ranging and delicious to meet any mood. But for real the live music just takes it up a notch. This place has and will continue to be a family haven for us for years to come!

Our Hostess searched for a stamp for my passport that all other locations were claiming they didn't have. She found it, and I was able to get the Halloween Stamp! This Crazy Cat Lady and her Cow friends are so grateful to her for her enthusiasm and friendliness!

Talk about a warm and inviting vibe when you first go into Boon’s Treasury! This place is so comfortable and the people are great! Our server was right there with our drink orders and after we’d relaxed with a beverage , she was back to take our food order and it came out very quickly. The food was off the hook incredible and the beers are just as good! I’ll be back to Boon’s and I know that it’s going to be just as great

We had about 2 dozen in our group the evening of 3-25-2022. They didn't know we were coming but were able to accommodate use. Maybe we got lucky or maybe they are still a little slow recovering from Covid related issues. I think we got lucky. They seemed well staffed, the service was spot on too! Some places tend to ignore a water drinker and I was drinking water, I got the same great service that the rest of the group got. The food was terrific, perfect portion, seasoning and presentation. They did an amazing job serving all of us at basically the same time too. We will definitely be back. I would call ahead just to be safe if you have a huge group. Seriously, just the fact that all the tables down the middle of the restaurant were available is pure luck.

I usually go to McMenamin's and order the tnt basket at the Thompson's location here in salem because that fried chicken is the closest I've found to my own. Stupidly, on a phone order pick up I ordered the same at the boon's treasury location thinking it would be atleast alike... Alas I was disappointed to discover the frozen chicken tenders you could get at any gas station deli. Not the quality I've come to enjoy/expect from a McMenamin's. Needless to say ill still be eating the Cajun tots because lets face it how can you c screw those up. But those chicken strips are trash. So thats where they're going. Wont be back to this location.

Absolutely the best customer service, and the food was amazing! This establishment took such great care of us traveling with two dogs…they set a table in front with linens and a candle! Truly the best experience of our road trip! 5 out of 5 stars is not enough! Thank you.

Good food ...great drinks

The food was great, hearty soup and a delicious garden burger with the works including swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms. Wonderful tastes and texture. Great selection of drinks. Absolutely fantastic, caring service. The only downside was a mediocre open mic event that interfered with our conversations.

Food took a while but the waitress was upfront that it would be, it has been a busy night. The communication breakdown I got wasn’t very seasoned but the peppers and onions made up for it idk if it had many mushrooms. My dad got the gyro and my sister in law got a sandwich and we all enjoyed our food. A big plus was that they were pet friendly which was nice because at last minute we had to bring our dog on the trip.

Nice venue, smaller, more quaint than some other McMenamin locations, but same great service, food, and laid back ambience as they all have. Always a great experience with this chain!

Only been here a couple of times, but both times the servoce has been prompt, friendly, and polite. Their menu changes, which was a small disappointment because I came in wanting a sandwich they temporarily took off the menu (to be fair, the last time I was here was seven months ago.) But all in all, great atmosphere, great service, and, if you like a changing menu, great selection of food! If I lived closer, I'd come more often!

Boon’s Treasury is one of a long list of McMenamin’s properties that is located in an historic space. The building is very unique and the food is good, as usual. My first visit here was super quick, just popped in to get a passport stamp while traveling from out of state. Now I live within walking distance and am enjoying it from a different perspective. Though it’s not one of their most impressive historical properties to look at, Boon’s Treasury is a must for history buffs. It housed the very first retail store in the Oregon Territory and once housed the State Treasury (thus the name). Boon’s stands on the site where Salem was founded, along Mill Creek, which is, unfortunately, barely visible because it has been covered over at that point by street and parking lot. Nice little outdoor seating area with the customary McMenamin’s fire pit!

This is my favourite bar in Salem. The drinks are cold and strong and the service is excellent. The staff is friendly, prompt, and remember you from visit to visit. On top of that, they have live music, cover-free, three nights a week, and kids are welcome until 10pm. It's a great place for happy hour, or dinner.

Very pleasant and friendly atmosphere, the food is tasty, the beers are delicious and refreshing and the prices are affordable.

The burgers are by far my best dish on the menu, the prices aren't too high and the service is prompt!

Great food, especially their tater tots which seem to be a house-made specialty. Got 5 different beers to go in cans. All were above average. Ambiance looked great, too, but due to Covid we just did takeout.

It is a great place. I love going to McMenamins. Burger was great. Beer was amazing. Service is top notch.

It's a standard Mcmenamins. This is one of their smaller venues but it is comfy and cozy. The brick walls give it some character. There is a giant recruiting poster form days gone by hanging on the wall that always feels patriotic to me. You can't go wrong with any of their burgers but they also do a great tuna sandwich. I never order sandwiches at restaurants but this one is an exception. This location has a take on Poutine, using tots, that is best shared because it's so rich. The bacon on the burgers and poutine is thick cut and superior to most restaurants. I live the crisp refreshment of a hammerhead ale. Try the poutine for an appetizer and a salad with your burger paired with any of their fresh beers. You won't be sorry. This location also has the chicken tenders and tots. It's delicious. Just get it.
