Greetings from 🇺🇸! Another amazing foodie spot here on the Flinders St strip! The boys and I threw down for some amazing grub and we were thrilled to enjoy. Crying Tiger steak, spring rolls, coconut rice, pad Thai and some plates of sizzling pork. Special requests like extra spicy peppers and sauces were fulfilled with excellent smiling service. House was packed tonight so you know this place is a nice spot to take your date or your friends in a large group. 🇦🇺🍻 This town never ceases to amaze me. Till next time! 🤙🏻

One of only 2 restaurants in Queensland (as per google and as of October 2020) that offer Laotian food (the other is in Brisbane). For those do not know, Laos is a lesser known country in South East Asia bordering Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. Hence its cuisine has influences from all 4 countries. What I like about this place is that they make their food as authentic as possible and not try to modify it to suit perceived australian taste buds. The result? A packed restaurant with patrons of all ethnicities. Tasty, exotic, spicy and flavorful are just some of the adjectives that can be used to describe their food. You do however have to pay a premium for it. So if you find yourself craving something different and do not mind paying a little extra for good food, do give this place a try. You might just be pleasantly surprised. Four and a half out of five stars.

Delicious food, generous portions, friendly and helpful staff. We were glad to have discovered this place on our visit to Townsville. Definitely would come again. Highly recommend it. Staff went out of the way to make us feel comfortable.

This place was incredible. The food and the flavours are so delicious, very fresh ingredients. On a Saturday night it was very busy but definitely worth the wait. The staff is super friendly and helped us make a decision amongst so many great choices. Don’t miss it if in town, totally worth it.

I've had this restaurant saved since before we moved here a year ago everytime I tried to book it was booked out and I completely understand why now. From the initial walk in the door all you could smell was the incredible food. For entrees we had the tasting plate and the curry puffs, I couldn't fault one thing the spring rolls were full of flavour, the fish cakes tasted so fresh they weren't dried out. For mains the three of us got the pad thai, the Laos laksa the steak Laos and the pineapple fried rice. We all shared so that we could taste everything, every dish was presented really nicely. Not one dish lacked in flavour or freshness. The serving sizes could have fed up to 6 people. I will definitely be returning this is now my favourite restaurant in Townsville. The decor is beautiful you feel as though you are overseas the wait staff and very good at remembering your order. Thank you for the beautiful experience

Went here for my Birthday dinner and loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. We got there pretty early for dinner and it was already packed, despite it being a restaurant you have to walk up to and can't just walk past, which made it clear to us that it was popular. No doubt I understand why as the portions are huge with a variety of authentic Laotian and Thai dishes. As someone who is half Asian and has travelled intensively in Laos and Thailand, I was pretty happy with the dishes but it could've been slightly more seasoned and fresh... And worst part was that they had run out of sticky rice AND wild rice (plus no vegan desserts), which made me quite upset as it is the restaurant name and my two favourite foods, and plant based Thai desserts are plentiful. Nonetheless the staff were very professional and kind, the service and energy of the restaurant made it a pleasant experience and I was really happy with their vegan main meal options. We got the deconstructed mushroom soup noodles and claypot. Would recommend!

We got a recommendation to this little place and loved it! The service was friendly and the food was excellent quality. I really appreciated how wholesome it all tasted especially not swimming in oil - even our indulgence which was the fried mixed starter was delicious. Would definitely visit when next in Townsville.

Food is very tasty, service good, licenced, pleasant decor, great city location. A point off for no chicken option for some dishes last nite due to short supply & no large side dishes of rice offered, only small (??)

The food was very tasty, and the servings very generous. The yellow curry was perfectly balanced. The Pad Thai could have used a little more tamarind, but the noodles weren't sloppy of stuck together. The staff were happy to swap around the dishes in the mixed entree to accommodate an allergy, which was a nice surprise. The Vientiane chicken wings were a delight, and a must try. The restaurant is at the top of a very steep flight of stairs, which means it's not accessible to everyone. The layout is nice, full but still plenty of space bwtween tables. The staff are super nice and helpful, and everything ran smoothly. I was able to briefly chat to the chef on passing and she was lovely and seemed genuinely interested in my feedback. The prices are spot on, as the serves are huge. We had enough food with 3 main dishes to take home for 2 more meals.

The menu prices weren’t updated and we were charged higher prices. Upon pointing this issue out, they blamed it on higher costs but then agreed to adjust the bill, but still it feels a dishonest attempt. The food is edible but light years from authentic Thai (champignons in Tom Yam?!? Diced carrots in pad kaprao?!?)

I don’t like giving low rated reviews but unfortunately I didn’t have a great experience here last night. We ordered the satay skewers which were really yum, with tender chicken however not much Satay sauce. We then ordered a large coconut rice and a small steamed rice - the larger was only marginally bigger than the small. The yellow chicken curry lacked flavour and so did the garlic pepper stir fry. I’ve been here before and had a much better experience, and same with ordering takeaway (the pad see ew was great!). So perhaps we just ordered wrong. The service was ok - it would be nice to be given water when you’re seated and not have to ask for it. The restaurant was really busy though (and I think one of the waiters was new) and the staff were friendly, just not attentive enough.

Nice atmosphere and decor but unfortunately the dishes were not great. The Laksa had about a whole basil plant in it and the vegan Pad Kee Mao was sub-par, way too spicy. Spring rolls were nice but cold in the middle.

Delicious food and beautiful little restaurant. We will definitely be returning. I felt the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received! The seafood panang curry was so fresh and by far the best dish we ate. The papaya salad was a bit too spicy so I'd give it a miss..

It was ok. The tasting plate was $29 and the rice was $21 I think. I specifically ordered the chicken fried rice and twice we were asked if it was the pineapple one, and it was still on the ticket when we went to pay. They were very busy. The salad I wanted wasn’t available that night.

Classic Thai food. Massaman beef sauce is a bit too liquid. Food is tasty however the service and ambiance are average.

Wild rice is my favourite restaurant in townsville. The food, service and atmosphere are always exceptional here. I have tried many of the dishes on offer, they have all been delicious and reasonably priced for the portion size. Personal favourites include Larb Gai, The pineapple fried rice and Steak Lao. The Laos chicken salad (Larb Gai) is a dish I order at any restaurant I find it on the menu and here is the best I have ever had. The homemade iced teas are also extremely tasty! 10/10 from me 👍

Absolutely shocking Thai and expensice night with food going into the bin. Ginger fish was dry and overcooked. Had a strong smell when I opened the container. Green chicken curry was bland and very dry and overcooked as well. My husband had a spoonfool and that was it... Coconut prawns, overcoated, dry and overcooked as well. Make yourself a favour and go and order food somewhere else. We will definitely not be ordering again from Wild Rice Laos & Thai

Forget the fancy fish, this is one true gem of the Great Barrier Reef. I stop by every time I'm visiting the area. I'm sure it gets better every time (although I'm not sure how that's even possible). Till next time, Wild Rice ❤️❤️❤️

Disappointed the steam fish was sold out but the Larb made up for it. The Larb - best I have eaten. Overall everything ordered was excellent.

Omg absolutely delicious!!! Went here for my birthday dinner with the girls and the food was stunning!!! Delicious and fresh and everything tasted amazing. Can't recommend highly enough. However, it is quite stuffy inside. They could do with better ventilation and Aircon but I won't hold that against them! Definitely will be back!!!! 5/5 ⭐
