Fantastic huge swimming area for the entire family safe from stingers & Crocs. Lovely park, kids area & beach with toilets & restaurant near by.

Great to walk here long the foreshore from Rowe's Bay and also visit the fort. Looks nice for a swim.

Good place for family. Seating areas, nice pool, boats there, scooters for rent.Enough parking. My boys love the flying fox, so much fun. There is also a nice walking track. Beautiful views of Magnetic Island 🏝️

Go for a swim free of charge on behalf of Townsville city council. Beautiful place to visit and sit around and bask in the sunshine of Townsville. The kids will thank you for this little visit here. Don’t forget to cool down and have a drink or two. Cheers big ears

Always a cool 😎 place to enjoy, especially in the summer months with 2 stinger nets for ocean swimming and " the rockpool" for calm water swimming. Surround by parkland for picnics, BBQ and just relaxing.

If you're visiting Townsville, I highly recommend visiting this spot. It is laid back, picturesque and a beautiful part of town. There are ample walk trails, parking and family friendly areas too.

Very pleasant and clean area. Public loos, picnic tables, beautiful view across to Magnetic Island, and if you're lucky, we spotted turtles.

Lovely area for a scroll along the length of The Strand. Lots of activities basketball court, few playgrounds, couple of beaches with showers for wash off. Cafes and Ice cream bars along the water edge. Great to see all ages using this facility. Good one Townsville Council.

Very cool rock pool, could really do with some shade covers but otherwise truly a very nice area.

A free pool that is open 24/7, safe and in a fabulous position, you can swim and look out to Magnetic Island. You can also eat or drink at the restaurant/bar overlooking the pool.

Might have to try it out for a dip soon. Coffee shop across the road stocks Cascade Tonic Water. The Best. Good view from rock steps half way up to kissing Point.

Nice place with ample parking, could really do with a lot more shaded areas. Nice safe place for a swim, also lacks real change rooms.

Sorry but today I went to Rock Pool Townsville what a mistake, paid $61:00 dollars for breakfast, requesting the smashed avocado with no feta as the young girl checked if they had lactose free feta she advised it was not lactose free, so I requested the feta to be removed. The young girl repeated my order 2 X lactose free coffees 1 X Rock Pool roll for my husband and Smashed avocado with blissed cherry tomatoes and the feta cheese to be removed. Breakfast finally arrived only to have feta cheese on on it, the young girl whom had delivered the meal was hard to get her attention to advice I had requested no feta cheese. The meal was removed and brought back very quickly only to discover that the feta cheese had been scratched off the toast , the so called blistered cherry tomatoes were cold and avocado you could not even put the fork into, the poached eggs could have bounce off the wall if you threw them, the only good thing about there restaurant was the view. Will not go back and not recommend them at all. I would go to McDonald’s before I go to Rock Pool. By the way I have never ever gone to McDonald’s in my life and I am almost 60 years old.

Kids love it but I find the floor slimy and a bit gross. Townsville really needs a swimming pool lagoon like Cairns or Airlie. Surrounding park and picnic spots are great.

Family friendly alternative to swimming in the ocean. It is essentially a filtered salt water pool with ample places for families to set up and swallow water entries for little ones. Well kept parklands in the surrounds with adequate parking

Spent the afternoon there, nice and chilled and wasn't busy at all! Just be careful going into the water as the floor was a little slippery from algae

We really enjoyed a dip in the Strand Rockpool, it was quite busy the day we went however there is plenty of seating for all. There are several places to eat and drink within a short walking distance and plenty of areas of lawn to sit if you would like to bring a picnic. Change rooms and toilets are also close by.

Lovely and safe place for a family picnic. Very safe for the kids, but of course keep your eyes opened.

Great spot to swim or picnic by the sea. Grassy around the pool. Playground and Pavilion Restaurant overlooks the pool.

Awesome ! Huge salt water pool with no one in or around. Small sandy spot to get a tan too and shady areas for the coolers. Only open public showers though ...

Nice park there, beach is just a few meters from there. Rock pool system is build to prevent stingers, working beautiful! Water is a bit misty but its fine cause it is sea water

  • 4/5 Lailani M. 1 year ago on Google
It's a beautiful sea water pool as it's at the edge of the sea and the Strand bolder only with big rocks overlooking Maggie Island, once a week its empty to clear the little crabs and fish that goes through the filter pump. There is a restaurant a play setting as well a picnic amenities set up around the pool. There is also a set up amenities for fishing 🎣
