What a fantastic place to stay. I stayed twice in the last month. What an effortless deal with staff. The rooms are 10 out of 10. I have and will/would recommend staying at The Aquarius on the Beach. I chose you guys the first time due to the fact that my late mother star sign was Aquarius. Very good omen!Thank you, ladies. Gold star was awarded🎯 to the staff.👍

D0 yourself a favour and stay here! Get yourself the high floor horizon view room and you will definitely enjoy staying in your room and just looking at the gorgeous view of magnetic Island! Parking is free but limited, rooms could do with a bit of updating but still perfectly comfortable. The pool was nice as well but can et crowded. The best thing about it is its location on the Strand tourist precinct. Everything is like a 5 min walk away!

Have stayed here several times and the service was great but absolutely disgusting this time. The young girl on front reception is so rude. The shower is broken and was known by management Won't give us a reduction. They close the back gate at 2pm but was told late afternoon by management. Room is dirty and damaged. Won't be staying here again. Being X Locals I'll be letting everyone know

Our stay was over the past two days We were on the 11th floor with a great view but, unfortunately, our room was near the lift. The constant grinding noise from the lift operating was particularly disturbing in the nighttime and early morning periods It actually woke us up many times When I mentioned this to the receptionist on checkout she obviously knew all about this but had never mentioned this at check in. Got the impression she didn’t care and there was no apology for this constant noise annoyance! Our room was fine but we were dismayed to find a bath/shower arrangement in the bathroom We are both in our seventies and found that entering and exiting the bath/shower was difficult and unsafe as there were no grab rails to assist us Again on check out I mentioned this to the receptionist who told me there were units with walk in showers! Again we were not told of this option. I rang and booked direct with them fully expecting a walk in shower never imagining a bath/shower arrangement All in all a poor response from the person in reception who obviously couldn’t care less about the issues and needs of the clientele during their stay

I will start with the pros: - Great location - Beautiful view - The service depends on the person at the front desk. Most of the staff we dealt with were friendly and nice. There was one exception but I will let that go. The cons: - As soon as we checked in, we started hearing loud drilling noise. We called reception to be moved and their response was “we cant move you and even if we did you will hear it from any room”. We asked when the noise will stop and they said it will be 10-4 every day that week. They did not lie about that, it was impossible to rest in the afternoon with that deafening noise. They didn’t even apologise - The internet signal was really bad. I did not manage to use it for the entire stay. - Parking was extremely limited and the hotel didn’t seem to do anything to manage it. If you want to stay out after dark, forget about finding a place to park. - It’s not a 4-star hotel

We love this hotel. Perfect position on the Strand. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops near by as well as Coles. The view from your balcony over to Magnetic Island is perfect to wake up to each day.

Our second stay. Rooms are dated but clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The views both times have been amazing and it's located close to everything we needed. Enjoyed the dining on offer all within walking distance and the chance to stroll along the strand during our stay. Will definitely stay again.

If it wasn't for the high pressure shower, this would have been a one star review. Arriving after our check-in time and being told the room is still not ready because they are defrosting the fridge was certainly a new one. They did offer a different room to stay in instead, but it was on level one and we wanted the view we payed for. When we mentioned this, their response was, well you'll be able to see some of the view between the palm trees... Spend your money elsewhere, this place is a dump and so are the staff members we dealt with. I imagine shortly they will reply with a generic response as they do with all the poor reviews instead of investing in a customer service course.

I absolutely LOVED our stay here. 1. Very friendly and accommodating staff on the front desk. 2. We stayed in Room 704....it looked like the room had been recently renovated. Kitchenette, table chairs, 2 seater couch and comfortable bed. Not large rooms but when you have a million dollar view of Magnetic Island from your balcony, that's where we spent our time. 3. All rooms face the beach and they also have a great pool area. 4. We will definitely be returning.

Not a bad place to spend for a couple days. Close to everything. Last 2 end rooms on all floors are the best, renovated and modern. All the other rooms are pokey and couldn't swing a cat in there 🤣 No housekeeping on weekends so bring ur own coffee/tea/sugar/milk. Parking, first in first served.

Very nice view, relaxing, clean, easy to park, soft bed( a bit too soft for us). Feel more like a hostel. Good experience in general.

This place had a nice view and in a great location the bed was nice but the balcony was very small and the door to get to the balcony was dangerous and you have security cameras watching. I felt insecure sitting out on the balcony because of the cameras it made me think there were cameras in my room!!! I won't be going back.

OK so we didn't book and took a chance. Told at reception to book using qrcode for discount. Tried 5 times and still didn't work. Reception was not able to give same discount as online though... Got executive room, it did have view of the bay at front. Other than that nothing great or executive about it. Quite noisy from street noise, so not a room for light sleepers. Needs a refurbishment. Bathroom not cleaned, had to fix shower knob to have a shower or it was going to be bath night. Toilet needs fixing, constantly running. Shower head need knozzels cleaned as about 1/4 of them didn't work. Bathroom door was filthy and had hair still attached. Curtains have holes, noise strip missing from entry door and top hinge bolt was almost out if the door. Need to keep your shoes on to avoid black feet from the floors. This property would rate about 3 to 3.5 stars if it was actually clean

The view is the best feature of staying here, it’s a gorgeous outlook to the island. This is an old hotel but our unit had been refurbished. There was a complicated looking bidet arrangement in the toilet (didn’t use it but the many options on the remote were humorous!) and the shower had an inadequate screen so the floor flooded each time we used it. Probably due for some pest control, there were some silver fish in the cupboard and the couch. The balcony was tiny and the door wasn’t able to be locked - we were up high enough to not overly worry about cat burglars but felt uneasy. It was helpful to be able to leave our cases at reception for an hour after checking out.

Stayed here over the weekend and wasn’t very impressed with the amenities or service. The room had an odd smell that wouldn’t go away even with the balcony open. We had a washing machine and dryer in the room but no washing powder was provided and dryer was broken. Front staff were dismissive and rude which made the stay uncomfortable. Also you get charged $3 to hire a towel to use the pool, I have never experienced being charged for towel at a hotel before. Front desk also doesn’t accept cash, which was an inconvenience. The only plus side was the location. I would avoid unless you’re in a pinch to find accommodation.

I was staying here for work. This is an exceptional hotel. Great location, fantastic customer service, great views and the rooms are well thought out. They also have the capacity for both short and long stays. Overall a fantastic hotel.

The room was spacious and very clean. The view from the 10th floor was beautiful! The front desk lady was very helpful and kind ! Overall, it was a great experience. 👍

Internet access atrocious for both wifi and mobile data. 1mbps over the wifi does not count as wifi access. No smart TV's, TV remote barely readable. Room and bed good, has working fridge and appliances. When showering water goes over the bathroom floor making it slippery, even after using the bath mat to sop it up. Parking is 1st in best dressed, with overflow out in the street. View fantastic.

Sure, the rooms are a little dated but still comfortable and clean and, the way I see it, it’s a crash pad, get out and enjoy what’s right on your door stop. The location and views are worth staying here for, being on The Strand, the best location in Townsville. There are plenty of places to buy food and drink, even right next door! I couldn’t park out the back in the hotel car park due to upgrades taking place but street parking directly out front was ample, well lit and free. If I had a gripe I’d say the after hours check-in wasn’t clear (I did use a third party agent). I’d like to think details should be posted at the entrance or in an email. The after hours staff member I spoke with was friendly and helpful, as was the young lady at the front desk when I checked out. I thoroughly recommend staying here and I’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful views and beautiful looking rooms. And for a great price. a few minutes walking distance from pubs and restaurants, this is a fantastic place to stay for one night or even a week or two

Stayed here on the 7th floor from 11th Feb till 25th Feb. After I booked I was checking the reviews and to be honest I was a little worried. Upon arrival I found my room to be very good. as a frequent traveler I have stayed in many hotels around the world and this room was on par with the best. The view was fantastic and the staff were helpful and very friendly. I left some clothes there and they kept them for me for a friend to pick up, very helpful again. This hotel is in an awesome location, very clean and I highly recommend it! Obviously the bad reviews are from whingers, my advice is to book this hotel, you wont be disappointed! Thanks staff at the Aquarius for my very pleasant stay!

Great location on The Strand. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Nice pool. Building is dated but ok. Our room was comfortable with great ocean view across to Magnetic Island. Staff were very kind & friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Nice and clean unit. We had north end room which the layout is much better if staying longer than a couple of days. Central to so many cafes and restaurants and Coles is close by. Bus stop in front of resort. Good value for money. Great location

Aquarius in the beach is in a great location, within walking distance to some shops and places to eat. The staff were also very good; polite and helpful. However, it is very dated. The furnishings and room layout is very old and doesn’t reflect the price that they charge. Sprayed concrete ceilings are very 80’s and I question how they are cleaned adequately. We had booked for 3 people but we’re only given 2 towels. As the front desk is not manned after 8pm, I called a number and was put through to someone who had organised for a a towel to be delivered after 9pm. I said not to worry as my child was going to bed. To their credit someone did deliver it and when I mentioned it ti the person at the front desk in the morning, I received a discount, but the room should have had everything in the first place. Additionally, they charge $3 to use a pool towel. This is stupid. Perhaps $3 as a holding fee in case someone takes off with it, but no… it costs $3 per person to swim in the pool if you want a towel. Too bad if I’d brought all the children… I was tempted to just walk through the foyer dripping wet to make a point, but I didn’t. Aquarius needs to up their game.

You are basically getting a really good location for a very reasonable price. Other then that, it is a basic hotel with basic fit out. Great view from the ocean facing rooms but the balcony is actually very very small, so enjoy the view, not the space. Very old hotel built in 70s and that shows. Definitely worth the price if you're here for couple of days. Stay somewhere else for longer trips.

Beautiful rooms and views. Pull out couch bed mattress was unsleepable but everything else in the room was great. Hallways smell a little funny but it could be due to a window leak on floor 3. Perfect location. Ocean views. I'd stay here again.

Room on third floor had a locked connecting door through which I could hear EVERYTHING!!! Went downstairs to see reception and there was no one there after 7pm. Ended up stacking spare pillows around the door to try to block neighbours noise. Room could have been cleaner and furniture very old. Also next to service elevator which was very noisy in the morning. View and location were great but not worth staying here again

Excellent position overlooking the water and across Magnetic Island. Great for walking distance to restaurants. Bed was so comfortable. Pool was sparkling clean and beautiful to swim in. Will definitely be back!

The room was clean, tidy and on the 12th floor we a great view. The reception was informative and friendly and you cannot complain at $165.00 per night. We will stay here again

Excellent location, close to restaurants, cafes etc, has a pool and on-site parking. Balcony views of the beach, clean facilities. Definitely staying here again.

The double charge is really inconvenient. They did not reimburse even after a week; luckily, I checked my bank statement and discovered it; otherwise, I would not check as we use our card in hundreds of locations throughout our vacation. It's the first time in two years that someone has asked money for wifi. What a jerk. The room's location and view are fantastic. The rooms are adequate though a touch worn out. Everything is within easy reach. It's fine for a one-night stand. There isn't much to say about the hotel.

  • 3/5 Paul T. 1 year ago on Google
There are a mixture of rooms here. Those that have been renovated are pretty good. The older ones are very tired, 70's styles. Do not take a room near the elevators, so anything from 4 and up on each floor is ok. Staff were very friendly. Location is great.

Average stay with average rooms. Areas of the room, like the corners and showers, were dirty. First lady we spoke to when we got there was great, next lady that I spoke to with 1 simple question was so incredibly rude. Snapped at me for asking which of the front doors I could come through after hours. Won't be staying again.
