I visited Pusol Bu Rudy on January 27, 2023. Hopefully, this review is still relevant by the time I post it. Since it had been a while since I visited Depot Bu Rudy in Dharmahusada, I decided to go there and buy some Sambal Bu Rudy. But to my surprise, it was no longer a Depot but had turned into Pusol. This tall building with four floors has an elevator, and the dining area is located on the third floor, while the rest are shops and meeting rooms. Here, the fried dishes are more complete than other branches such as in Pasar Atom. The menu is also varied, and the place is spacious. Overall, even though it was my first time visiting this new place, it certainly won't be my last.

It’s a very big restaurant at level 2 They serve many dishes of fish chicken etc You could either order set or ala carte Tried the udang prawn set. I didn’t really like it as it’s just fried and the prawns has the very fishy stale taste The lontong style tahu is not bad and something similar I had back sg. The fried fish was ok I find the veggie tastes better overall. Very fresh and tasty The ice coffee is too sweet though You can see the lady boss walking around and serving customers

Nasi campur udang special was kinda pricey, the taste was just okay, their famous shrimp was kinda bland and merely crunchy, nothing special. The iga penyey however was more flavorful and reasonably priced albeit their small size. Their fried tofu was a great disappointment and pricey, i remebered it was more tasty a couple of years back at their other branches. None of the servers handled the foods with gloves, kinda gross as the spoons were short and obviously they will touch the foods with their bare hands while prepping for people's orders. The place is huge with indoor and outdoor dining areas, and mini mart below. This place is fun for novelty sake. Foods 2*/5* Price 2*/5* Service 2*/5* Ambience 2*/5*

Best spot for lunch in Surabaya. Their new building is very huge & sophisticated with industrial minimalist concept. The building itself consists of 3 level. - Ground floor is for parking area. - 1st floor is for Pusol (Pusat Oleh-oleh) - 2nd floor is for dining & kitchen - 3rd floor is for musholla They offers A LOT of menu variant. I tried nasi udang empal special. It consists of udang crispy, empal gepuk, telur dadar & sayur asin. Sayur asin is not my cup of tea, other than that it was good. Their sambal bawang also nice to accompany your dining. Beside main dish, you must try their side dish as well. Tahu pong & pisang goreng madu is recommended. It taste so good and freshly fried. Dining area is very huge. But still it will be very crowded during lunch time. The same with Pusol, they offers lots of oleh-oleh from all accross East Java. During peak time, you might be not getting parking space on ground floor building, but there are parking man that will assist you to park your car around the building. If you visit Surabaya, Depot Bu Rudy is must visit place for lunch.

Bu Rudy serves impeccable Indonesian food, and their chilli is truly to-die-for. Although the service was quick, the food was bursting with flavour. The warm and friendly lady boss constantly went around the restaurant welcoming and interacting with diners, which made the dining experience even better. I enjoyed the food so much that after the meal, I immediately went to their departmental store located below the restaurant to purchase several bottles of their famous Chilli.

Good variety of food, comfortable setting, and friendly service are the reasons why I'm recommending this restaurant. Thumbs up for the service quality, including the speed of food being served despite the level of crowd present. Also think that the food prices are reasonable.

First time in Surabaya and Dine in for breakfast after train ride from malang. Location was on the main street of dharmahusada, parking slot they have quite a lot. Elevator for accommodate customers for easy access for higher floor. The food was good, we order "nasi campur" the price IDR 32.000/portion. And the ice tea was huge 🤣. You can also buy oleh-oleh here. Everything in here was good and the price is reasonable.

Indonesia meals are often multifaceted. And this is a restaurant that signature flavors include hits of chili, subtly smooth notes of coconut, citrus zings, etc

    - This place is huge, with a restaurant and a snacks store in the same building. - We ordered the "Nasi Campur Spesial" and "Nasi Bakar Tuna". Both dishes were delicious. I particularly loved their sambal bawang, which we could also purchase in their snacks store. - The prices are reasonable and the staff were friendly. We arrived around 4pm local time and the restaurant was quite crowded, but the service was quick. - The place was also clean and cozy. Highly recommended!

Great taste, this place is famous for their crispy deep fried shrimp and sambal combo. It is very crowded during lunch, you have to literally shout to get the server's attention. The dining space is located behind their gift shop and the cashiers cater for both. So expect to have a line. The parking lot is 2 buildings before the actual restaurant so make sure you don't miss it.

the grocery is clean, the place is comfortable, the location and placement of each product is neat. the building just moved from the previous location which was bigger, but parking is also still difficult because it is so crowded with visitors. the typical food recommendations are dried shrimp and onion chili sauce

A place to go for authentic surabaya food. Nice ambient, good food, great service, good variety of menu. You can taste bold spice and strong aroma for each food. Sambal has extra garlic arome, lodeh has a smoke arome, its a real food pleasure.

A peek into the culinary showcase of surabaya although it can't be considered the best. Clean and hygienic served by friendly staff. Slightly on the pricey side but justified with packaging.

The legendary Nasi Empal Udang Bu Rudy, a new restaurant place with gift shop in the 2nd floor, 3rd floor and 4th floor is their Restaurant. Ground floor they are made it into a car park, ussually we always got difficulty to park the car outside cause of lack of car parking space. Their menu is more indonesian food menu, which is has good taste and good price.

Tried their famous crispy shrimp + empal set, it comes with very delicious preserved vege and beansprouts side (kinda sweet, a little bit spicy) i love the crispy shrimps. Not a huge fan of the empal though, it comes with a marinated hard boiled egg, kerupuk as well. Best part is the SAMBEL!

One of the few places to buy signature foods of Surabaya. The place is quite small and the parking lots are very limited. You can park your vehicle inside a building near the store, but it's not quite convenient. There are many options available, most popular ones are their sambal and their Nasi Campur Empal Udang. The price is slightly expensive for me. So if you want to buy something else than their best sellers, I recommend you to buy it outside.

This is one of the places that must be visited when looking for unique Surabaya style delicacies and souvenirs. Mrs. Rudy has created the legendary crispy shrimp and its unique got chilli. By shopping in this location you will find many different varieties of local small shops produce that are scattered around Indonesia, but especially in the Eastern Java region. Parking is at the ground level with the lifts to take you upstairs to the food court and the shop.

The food is delicious and has approachable pricing. Restaurant mostly attracts local customers who the best can appreciate the authentic atmosphere and quality. Place is also clean and simply but nicely decorated Only disadvantage is overworked and thus not very friendly service

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal. I had a 3 course east java meals. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. There was also VIP room for bigger groups. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

  • 4/5 Sandy S. 1 year ago on Google
Had the nasi udang empal, sayur urap, and lodeh ikan. All were great, not that spicy. The place is also a souvenir center, so you can look around as well. Be careful in selecting brands though, they usually have similar items but with different brand than the original. But they also have their own original items. Some of the recommendations are sambal, udang, and kue blinjo crispy.
