We were super excited because all of the great reviews. Moved into the area and was craving Spanish food. We ordered two Cubano sandwiches, tried one carne empanada and a chorizo empanada and two morado smoothies. The empanadas were terrible. The carne empanada just had plain rice in it and the chorizo meat tasted like it had sour/old meat. The morado smoothie tasted like it was just water, blueberries and almonds- no flavor at all. Giving a two star review because the sandwiches were the highlight of this meal. Not worth $40.

Definitely a local favorite for me! I have never had bad food, or any sort of bad experience here. Staff is amazingly friendly, and the service is always relatively quick for made to order food, even when they are semi busy! I recommend the sweet corn arepa, any of the empanadas (but especially the puerco, dulce, arequipe, or champinon, some of my favorites), and the queso frito with pineapple! The cafe con arequipa is also phenomenal.

Cute little cafe with crazy delicious food! The empanada list is super long with several vegetarian in options. Today I went with the classic queso, it was different from some traditional empanadas like I was expecting but super good. I also got the yuca fries, the aoli and cheese topping was so good, I completely stuffed myself with every last bite.

Lunch at Quiero Cafe was fantastic!! The cubano on bread, the hotdog Colombiano, chorizo lunch platter, chicken tamale and yuca fries were all extremely impressive and satisfying. Quality on these items was through the roof authentic, and the price/value was very fair. Highly recommend Quiero to all - this little restaurant would hold its own in competition with big city alternatives

I had one each veggie & cheese, beef and chicken empañadas. They were tasty, but I would have preferred a higher ratio of filling to dough. And they came with nothing but a teeny tiny cup of pico. SUGGESTIONS to the owner: 1. Do not allow dogs to sit inside where people are eating. 2. Provide at least a short description of the food items. 3) The person taking orders should be able to speak and understand English, should be able to describe the offerings, should communicate where to get plastic ware, napkins, sugar, etc. 4) Do something to minimize the noise level.

Quiero Café and family are the best people around. The food that they make from hand is unbelievably good. The drinks like the Arequipe are fantastic. I always get the burrito which is the most flavourful I've had. I go here every single day for the Arequipe and will continue too. They do everything to make any mistakes right and are always so helpful. Thank you guys so much for being here!

Beautiful space with exposed beams. Friendly and professional service. The food was delicious and very fresh; made to order. Lots of gluten-free options. You order at the counter and then take a seat. My family give it two thumbs up!

If you want some real Latin food this is the place. I ordered the Pollo and Puerco empanadas and they are made fresh along with the mango limeade. The cool thing is they stanp each empanada with their names on it as seen in the food picture.

Smoothies are fresh, made to order with options from fruity to veg and beyond! So delicious! Try all the flavors💖🍍🍊🍏🍓🍌🍑🍯🥑 The empanada choices are vast! Something for everyone! They come with a small side homemade salsa! I suggest adding one of their hot sauces or house sauces to taste💖 I suggest the Chips n Guac.which comes with 4 oz homemade quac🥑 and a nice brown bag of homemade tortilla chippies. Def. Worth a trip! Grab smoothie for a pick me up, its so refreshing!💖😌🍏🍓

I can’t say anything good about our experience here. We ordered and paid online. They didn’t have our order and rushed it to get it ready 15 min after it was promised. The empanadas were greasy and under seasoned. The yucca fries were under cooked and tasted only of garlic with no salt or other seasoning. The quesadilla was fine, but not great. Even the chips were unsatisfying. We won’t be back.

What a find! The carnitas here are some of the best I have EVER had. We loved the Patacon, a fried plantain topped with meat of your choice + lettuce, avocado and pink sauce and served with rice and black beans. I cant imagine it being better than with the pork, the juices of which soaked down into the plantain and made it extra delicious. The fried empanadas were a bit sweet for us, but we loved the jalapeno-cheese tamale, and the coconut limeaid which tasted like a delicious virgin cocktail. Counter-order and casual. Mostly takeout, and we dined in and found the sporks a bit challenging. But we cant wait to make this a regular spot.

Amazing food!! You definitely get what you pay for here. Traditional tasty food!! The Puerco Empanadas are my favorite! 😋

  • 3/5 christopher h. 3 years ago on Google
It's certainly trendy. Started with the Patacon. Never had it like this before; very pleasant! Crispy on the edges, chewy center, the aioli made a nice counterpoint. The empanada crust was crunchy; very thin, not light/airy like I expected. Reminiscent of hard tack. As tho they used zero fat to make it. The Puerco filling was very tasty, perfectly spiced. The carne was good, not too heavy on the rice. Couldn't taste the scallions, or even any spices, at all. The Cuban sandwich really shone. Thinly sliced meat, perfectly done, pickles throughout, on soft chewy bread. Very nice! I'll be back for the patacon and the cuban

Really delicious. Everything was super fresh and house made. We've eaten here twice now getting different things and it's just amazing food. They also have non dairy options, gluten free options and vegetarian and vegan options. They really cater to everyone. Hubby loves their empanadas and I really love their fried plantains in all their shapes and forms. Especially the patacon. I also had their mango margarita and it was delicious made with fresh mangoes. I want to be upset about how difficult it was too drink at the end with all the fresh muddled mangoes but I just can't. It ended up the perfect dessert at the end of the drink: boozy mango. I was also very impressed by all the little ways they were environmentally sustainable.

A delightful find! Delicious empanadas, arepas, quesadillas and burritos packed with flavor! The Cuban was delectable and the mango margarita had mango purée in it — which was next level. And the casual atmosphere made it a chill meal. New favorite!

Staff is friendly and happy to answer questions. Food is very good. I greatly enjoy thier smoothies. Wish there was more size options. Prices for smoothies, juices etc are in my opinion a little high. I felt the food prices are a little high for some offerings but good for others. Would and will go back

Didn't think it was possible to make such bad empanadas, they were flavorless and dry. Hot sauce was hot and bitter, again no flavor just spice. Failed to see how so many people think this food was actually good.

  • 5/5 Rachael 1 year ago on Google
Everything was delicious and authentic. Hot tostones. Delicious variety of empanadas. Lots of house made dips, salsas, and sauces to try. We had the Lunch special with chorizo and the Peruvian steak.

Maine needs more spots like Quiero Cafe and less cookie-cutter taco joints. Latin American food is more than Mexican - obviously there’s some crossover from country to country but we need some variety. I was so excited to see tamales, arepas, and even Colombian hot dogs. I went with the chorizo empanada and the chicken tamale on my initial visit. The tamale was a bit dry but otherwise delicious and the empanada was probably close to the best I’ve ever had - perfectly crispy dough and just the right size. These are simple, homey dishes and they’re executed very well. Don’t come here and order a quesadilla but instead explore something new - my plan is to try the Chileno hot dog next time (avocado, mayo, sauerkraut and tomatoes - sounds delicious).

Absolutely delicious food! They have tasty empanadas and everything was so fresh. I would love to come back to have their passion fruit margarita, its something to be not missed here! :)

  • 4/5 Bopha 3 years ago on Google
Two thumbs up for their Colombian hot dog. The panela drink was refreshing. It was my 1st time ordering from there so I got the 3 empanadas for $8 special, thinking it'd be the same kind of empanadas like in everyone else's pictures - it was not. They tasted okay, I like that they weren't greasy like at some other places. I tried iced coconut campesino for the first time and the taste just wasn't for me.

Fresh and delicious! Cubanos and empanadas are great, especially puerco and chorizo. They have a large selection of drinks - smoothies, limeades, daiquiris, and coffees. My favorites are the verde smoothie, regular limeade, and espresso. The dining room is spacious with only 6 or so tables, and 2 tables outside. Most people get take out, every time we dine-in there are free tables.

I ordered take out, the woman was not overly friendly but not rude. She just took my order and handed me the pager. The food was delicious. The menu seemed a bit of a fusion but very interesting. I ordered the chips and guacamole and the Cubano. Not enough guacamole for the amount of chips, but it was excellent. The Cubano was different from others I've had, it seemed to be the BBQ one, which isn't what I ordered, but I could be wrong. It tasted good anyway. I would go back to try some of their other foods, or just for the guacamole! The cafe itself was open and quiet, a few people in there. It's got a rustic feel to it, nice atmosphere. I would definitely go again.

I've eaten here a few times in the past...totally fell in love with the chicken quesadilla! I ordered one tonight, it's been about a year since my last visit, and I am beyond disappointed! Inside the quesadilla was just minimal cheese and grilled chicken globbed in the center. The quesadilla was cut into 2 pieces and thrown into a small box with a bunch of tortilla chips and a small container of sour cream. The chicken has a very odd rubbery texture...I'm a little concerned that it may not even be cooked thoroughly. What a complete waste of $13...I don't even think it's safe to feed to my dogs! Has there been a change in ownership or management?? Such a difference from my past experiences!!

If you're looking for a delicious lunch, the empanadas & a smoothie from Quiero Café are where it's at. Their pollo empanada is the best comfort food & their puerco empanada (pulled pork & plantains) is legit one of the best things I've ever tasted!

One of my favorite places to get food from since I moved to Saco. I love how the empanadas have the flavor printed on them and I can stop ordering the fried cheese. I have personally ordered a few different smoothies which I have been happy with and my partner orders the iced coffees which he loves. It has such a nice atmosphere and I wish I could eat here more

Fantastic burrito! Perfect balance of meat, rice, beans, cheese and salsa. The ends were folded so I didn't have large wrap bites at the end. Their salsa is fresh and made from scratch, just like you are in Latin America.

Did takeout for 6. Everything was excellent. Pork dishes had high quality meat (no gristle). Same with chicken dishes. Vegetables tasted fresh. We tried many items on their menu Even rice and means were far higher quality than what you often get.Service was friendly. They helped me carry food out to car. Definitely will be a place we return to.

The food here is delicious once you get it. We waited over 30 mins to discover our order was lost. They apologized and gave us some corn chips and guacamole. It will be hard not to return for the yuca, burritos, and soursop though.
