I really hate to be so negative but this is by far the worst gym I’ve been to in many years. First, the parking feels a little sketchy and we didn’t want to leave any valuables in the car. The isn’t the bright and open design you might be familiar with from gyms in other big cities. The facility is very dirty and I swear they haven’t purchased new holds or cleaned the existing ones since the late 90’s. Holds on every route I did up to 12c felt very grimy and slick. Seriously, buy some new holds and a power washer. Many of the top ropes that are set up are steep enough to require directionals and have routes directly behind them so if the directional isn’t already clipped and you fall there is very often a risk of swinging like a wrecking ball into the people behind you. Requires a fairly tentative belayer. We didn’t really enjoy the top ropes so we decided to boulder. This is the only star I can award for the gym. Grades felt on par with other gyms around the country and I actually got on a few fun ones. BUT the glaring negative here is that the pads are dated, old, and unsafe. It feels like you’re climbing over an old lumpy down pillow. There might be even padding under you, there might be none. Impossible to tell. We were already disliking the gym when my girlfriend then bailed off the top of a boulder and snapped her ankle super badly on the poor padding resulting in a trip to urgent care. The padding badly needs an upgrade. Ultimately the gym fills its role, but when previous reviewers mention how the dirtiness of the gym adds to its “authentic” or “classic” feel, that’s a sign to me that it needs some major upgrades or to have more competition from another large gym in a city of >200,000

Good amount of variety, but of the dozen climbing gyms I've been to it's the dirtiest. The mats, the floors, the holds, all filthy. The staff are not friendly at all unless you're a personal friend of theirs. We actually got scoffed at for asking if we could sign up for a membership.

One of the best gyms in the area. Very nice atmosphere and climbs. This is an old gym so the holds tend to be smooth, the gym is mostly filled with locals, and yes things are "dirty", but that's what I love about Wild Walls. It still feels like an authentic and classic climbing gym.

Probably the most unsanitary gym I have been too, I’ve never seen a gym with such oily and grimy holds. Not to mention the lack of a changing room and the likely hood of your car getting broken into out front.

I don’t find this gym to be a very welcoming place. I’ve been here twice to climb and once for yoga. I found the yoga teacher to be ignorant and culturally insensitive, which was a huge disappointment and left me feeling super awkward. I love indoor top rope and I’m not sure of anywhere else to go in Spokane. Therefore, I will probably be back for lack of options, but I hope the staff wakes up and becomes more accepting of all existing and new customers.

I am visiting from out of town and this place had better reviews than another gym in the city. This gym has good, challenging routes of all levels, and a good mix of bouldering and top roping. I rented a chalk bag (they gave it to me for free which was nice, saved $5) but the bags I rifled through had little to no chalk in it. I started climbing and one of the employees was climbing near me, and interfered with my route because they weren’t paying attention to where my route was going. This is a big no-no in climber etiquette, as you always want to double check the areas around you before you start your climb to make sure you aren’t getting in someone’s way. I also think that this gym doesn’t have a sufficient amount of down-climbs, especially near the more challenging, taller routes. In the bouldering room, there is a ladder standing on top of two wood boards, in a place that is a little dangerous. Its presence makes it difficult to put a crash pad near the wall it’s located at, and should probably be removed from the room while not in use. I did get a good workout in with the good routes, but wishing some of these details were fixed.

From the staff to the folks climbing everyone was very helpful. They have a safe space to put your bicycle if you are a commuter like me as well! This is the most fun you can have at a gym!

There were a lot of people present when we visited so we stayed in the room to the left of the entrance. Wasn’t bad for our first visit we were here for about an hr or so. My kid enjoyed it he packed a lunch that way we’d stay longer. Will definitely sign up for a membership and bring chalk as well.

Great rock gym for top rope, lead, and bouldering. Rates are decent, but if you’re a college student, they have 5 dollar Friday’s and offer semester long memberships for 150, which you can make back in about 2 weeks of decent climbing. Has a bouldering room, around 6-7 top rope/lead walls, and an additional bouldering area. Also has a second story with campus boards, weights, etc for training. Great atmosphere, staff, and climbers! Here’s part of the overhanging bouldering section with a few V3’s and V4’s:

My first climbing experience. I came and was able to try for free using my friend's guest pass. There's a lot of things to climb on... I see what the other reviewers are saying about it being dirty. My friend said it's better to not wear socks with the shoes (reminded me of bowling) but they are just thrown back into the bucket and probably are never cleaned, so if you want to avoid foot fungus I would wear socks or buy your own shoes. You sign a waiver and receive no instructions or guidance from the staff, so it was good that my friend was there. The other people climbing seemed nice, like you could ask for advice if you needed it. But you basically are on your own.

Not sure why everyone says this place is so dirty. It's no dirtier than any other climbing gym I've been to. Holds get chalky and dirty anywhere you go, and this place is a normal amount of dirty holds. Routes are decently set and appropriately graded (there was one 5.9 that felt like it was set by a 6'6" giant, but otherwise good setting). People there are friendly enough. Day rate is fair for what you get. Parking is easy, building is easy to find.

My absolute favorite climbing gym! I’ve been coming to Wild Walls since I was a kid and I love how I’ve been able to learn and grow my rock climbing skills here. The top rope, lead climbing, and bouldering routes are fun and challenging! Not only is the climbing great, but so are the employees. They have always been friendly and helpful to answer any questions you may have. This place is great for climbers of all levels and they provide a wide variety of climbing classes!

Nice people, good community! Very friendly and helpful staff that helped me when i got scared at the top of the wall lol. Everyone was still so kind and gave great tips about going up and coming down. Overall great experience, especially for a first time climber!

Really awesome gym, there are a ton of routes for top rope in a great mix of grades. The grades are exactly spot on in how they are rated. Creative and quality routesetting. Friendly staff. Didn't even get to the bouldering and only hit a portion of the routes! We got a month membership and I can't wait to go back and get on more routes :)

Great small climbing gym. Good mix of challenging routes. I would give 5⭐ but some ropes are a bit worn out and could use replacement.

  • 5/5 Christian S. 4 years ago on Google
In town for a few days and needed to climb. Really friendly staff. Super helpful. Really a 4.5 star review because a bunch of the holds on the bouldering wall are so dirty you dont know what route they belong to. Makes it more challenging. Problems were well thought out and super fun. Will definetly go back.

Awesome place. Climbing for top rope and bouldering. All types of different ability levels and even a small gym upstairs. With all this Covid mess, it’s comforting to see a local business has survived.

Everything you need in a climbing gym! They’ve got a couple of great bouldering areas and some nice high walls as well. The training area has all the equipment necessary to train for that next hardest climb. Compared to climbing gyms I’ve been a member of elsewhere in the country, you get a lot of perks here; free yoga classes, free rental gear, a free monthly guest pass. It’s an awesome chill place to try some new problems!

It was fantastic! I have never enjoyed anything like this more in my life. I went to one of the classes they offer and it was great I learned everything I needed to know so I didn’t have to worry when I went to actually climb. My class came with a week long membership and as long as I keep enjoying it I will be getting an actual membership. I could not possibly recommend it more. However, if you are not ready for a challenge climbing in general might not be for you it’s not nearly as difficult as I expected, but by no means is it easy.

Great experience for my first time climbing! Their beginners course was great! Very personal and easy to follow. I had a great time and will definitely be returning!

This place charges the same amount per month as gyms with actual amenities (shower/locker room/weight room/etc). The trash cans are always full. Where is the money going?? Not towards the facility that’s for sure. And your car windows will get broken into while parked outside.
