The place is generally laid back and serene. The ambience is alright. Will probably get better as the trees grow taller but still enough shade to enjoy reading a book. The food is alright, overpriced though. The staff are delightful and professional

A wonderful place, with such a beautiful ambience. A nice and calm place to spend the weekend with family especially with kids involved, there are many activities like horse riding and games. The food is okay okay, since it is made with a local touch, the spice doesn’t hot the palette.

The resort is very beautiful, especially the gardens. There are tasteful furnishings and decor, and interesting artwork and sculptures everywhere. Serene and mostly quiet even on the weekend. The rooms are spacious, but they do not provide bathroom slippers. The staff are courteous, ready to assist and very responsive to queries. There are good conference facilities. There is a swimming pool, gym and spa. The food is okay, but could be better. I was a little disappointed that the resort is not anywhere near the lake. Still, highly recommended.

The view is too good, as well as the other activities offered such as riding a camel or a horse. There was cycling and swimming too, which were great as the environment is extremely good. Although the food wasn't very excellent, but good enough

I guess this is what some people call a hidden gem. It is located strategically in Kisumu with a background of the Stony Hills of Maragoli. The resort is beautiful, with fantastic ambience and providing a variety of spaces for different functions.

I have just had a terrible experience. Since I have arrived I was amazed with the beauty that Ciala resort has to offer however the staff have left me traumatised. They have displayed corruption, theft and untrustworthy behaviour. To begin with our stay for two nights and on both nights I left my room with a do not disturb alert however they still entered our rooms without permission. Secondly one of my peers sunglasses has gone missing he left it in the room once he returned the sunglass was missing, this is an expensive item in which Ciala resort have not taken responsibility for. Finally once we were checking out there was prices agreed but they charged us double for what we were meant to pay which is an act of robbery and crime.

Serene place with excellent service. Hotel is not in the a well serviced area but the environment is excellent. When on travel with a private car, your experience getting there and moving around will be excellent. They can arrange transport on arrival though.

Ciala Resort stands out from the rest with it's scenic location, wonderful service and tasty meals. We enjoyed the view of the hills, ample space and the responsiveness of their team.

A place to be with well served meals, the place is clean well organized away from the noicy cbd, their rooms are spacious, clean and up to standard with fast working wifi and smart television, they have a big play groung for the little ones to keep them well entertained through out their stay, this is a place worth your penny.

Scenic, Relaxing, perfect blend of nature and architecture. All types of rooms are spacious with great comfort. Beautiful verandas. 5 star hospitality. Beautiful luxurious rooms. Executive Conference Halls. Each Building, Each Amenity well thought out such as lights turning on after inserting the door card into its room pocket and turning off after removing the card.

A taste of Kisumu Rural area bequeathed with the view of maragoli Hill. It's quite scenic and a place to retire in the evening due to the cool weather. #Kisumu finest 👌

Tucked in the lush green lands of Kisumu West, Ciala is a breath-taking haven designed to calm and heal the city's bad vibrations. Right from the vast parking area to the cozy reception area back to the garden and to the pool-side, the place is designed for relaxation

Rooms are wonderful but pricey (Kshs. 14,000 a night half-board) Hotel ground is lush, leafy and calming. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Internet was stable. Large pool with children's section. Friends enjoyed the steam bath and gym. Food tasty. Recommendations 1. Improve food variety: why serve creamed spinach daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner? 2. Curb music volume from bar near the pool as well as events on hotel grounds as they reach guest rooms. 3. Improve security surveillance. We lost some merchandise (empty bags) but security said the CCTV was off (strange).

Still haunted by the time I went there and they served me an alcoholic cocktail after giving clear instructions I wanted a mocktail. Wait, you'll say maybe they were busy - No, they weren't and the drinks took almost an hour to arrive. Accidents happen but this felt intentional.

They are polite always willing to help They had an amazing band at the poolside. Food service station well spread on the Christmas and new year day. Ciala team bravo!! don't ever lose the enthusiasm. The resort's ambience was simply enchanting, with its serene surroundings and meticulous attention to detail in its design. The service was outstanding, with a staff that consistently went above and beyond to cater to guests' needs. What stood out the most was the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that enveloped the entire resort. It provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing guests to unwind and rejuvenate in a truly serene environment. My husband and I had an incredible time!

We wemt for a graduation ceremony, the food was very sweet and portions adequate given we were many. And at one point the waiters joined us in the celebration with dances and music

This is a beautiful retreat that is well run. The facilities are well maintained and clean. The conference halls/tents are quite big. It is excellent for team building trips. Plenty of activities and places to be visited within a 50KM radius.

This is a lovely hotel, beautiful surroundings. I love that it is far away from the crowds, traffic and congested towns. The only issue is their room rate is too expensive for regular business trips. I go to Kisumu once a month on business trips, and I would use this hotel every time.....but it's too expensive to use as a regular place to stay. It's fine for a one off holiday stay. I stay for one week every month in Kisumu on business, and this would simply be too expensive

Visited briefly for a coffee only to be offered instant! Coffee machine broken, flooded car park, handle missing off gents washroom. Do not visit when hosting weddings if you do not like loud music. Poor maintenance and not up to Acacia standard yet. Excellent service from Agnes helped to rescue the visit.

Well nestled gem. A short drive from Kisumu town. Accommodation, conferencing and leisure facility. Has kids play area, pool, gym and grounds for hire. Beautiful views of the nearby hills and calming environs for relaxation or team building. Friendly and welcoming staff.

It was nice spending the night at your Resort. Good food, good reception but when we requested for food to be served in the room. We paid for the service yet I was with a disabled person who was not able to move to the dinning room. I think visitors should be treated differently. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much and the food was excellent and service too looking forward to coming back with my whole family.

To call this a resort hotel would be a misnomer. Although the rooms are OK, the public areas are uninviting - there was always loud music from the pool, making it impossible to use, though it appeared to be empty. The staff were completely untrained and ran about like headless chickens. There was always football on the television in the dining room, which we find quite unacceptable. The location was such that it would have been difficult to visit sites. There was no view.

Very welcoming attendants, great meals. Great facilities including both gym and swimming pool, but need to adjust the operating hrs to cater for those using them while on work duties. i.e. opening at 9:30am limits many, as they intend to use it early morning before going to work

Great place but it is quite far away from Kisumu Center. You need to plan your transportation. Cab are available but bargain the Price. Ciala Ressort is a place I would recommand. Room are clean. Food is great. People are willing to help and very polite.

We had a business retreat there. Be careful with your belongings, I had money stolen (250 Euro) and Samsung earbuds right from my room. The management promised to inquire but, after more than a month nothing came out of it, and the security manager did not communicate their findings. Strange behavior for a so-called five-star resort. Stay away.

Great location, serene environment except for when they have functions on their grounds. The accommodation is excellent, food is good - could be better with more variety especially with their salads and desserts! Interacted with some great staff - Richard (Housekeeping); Arnold, Romano (Gym); Tony (Restaurant); Diana, Vincent (Reception). The customer experience can definitely be improved. There seemed to be a lack of coordination within the team: booked massage, change of timings not communicated; booked one of their excursions, only to be told morning of departure we have to organize for ourselves because we weren’t a group (never mind that this information is not indicated in their excursion booklet); and made final payment 18 hours in advance of check-out but still had to wait 20 mins as they confirmed whether payment was done! Some advice for the team at Ciala - please treat your guests equally and with the importance you claim each one is to you. It isn’t just about the facilities, which are great. The CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE while staying at your premises is what we walk away with…..

The road needs to be fixed. Not just for the sake of the resort but also for the community that lives around it. Otherwise Ciala is amazing, the staff were wonderful so calm and helpful, the environment is serene, everything is CLEAN, the food is fresh and delicious. The details in the decor impressed me no lie. I had a wonderful time and definitely plan on going back for longer.

Fraud and corruption. Charged us for having dirty bedsheet which I’ve never been charged for in any other hotels. Ruined our laundry, came back discoloured, ripped one of the items. Sunglasses went missing from the room and other things. Rooms were on Do not Disturb still came in and did their cleaning. Management was poor, when I asked about my stuff that went missing they were like they’re going to ask the person that cleaned the room then didn’t hear nothing back. Never going there back again.

Ciala Resort is among the best & beautiful Hotels in Kisumu. The grounds are kept immaculately. They have numerous cottages and guest rooms. This as great place for retreats and team building activities. The dining hall is absolutely beautiful with a design that takes you back to colonial times. The food is delicious. I highly recommend this place if you are in Kisumu City…

Such a gem of a place that's snuggled on the off route from Kisumu aka Euro-city. From the reception area, to the rooms, ambience, extra curricular facilities...what is there not to just appreciate? And the menu is just but amazing! The food is always delicious and you will not miss out on your favourite. I was there for a work event but I appreciated my stay here.

Great facilities, friendly staff and the ambience is just great. Was here for a meeting next to the pool. Afternoons were hard though because guests around the pool were loud.

  • 4/5 Eng. Simon P. O. 9 months ago on Google
A relatively new addition to the hotel environment in and around Kisumu, being some 20 km out of town. The rooms are quite spacious and the queen bed is a massive plus. But the works were probably completed in a hurry and evidence of poor finishings and missing fittings in the toilet enclosure are a little disappointing... The service personnel are mostly professional and know their jobs well. The prices are high even for those having dollars... But the experience of a remote vacation destination is alluring and if one can afford, this is an excellent location, even for kids...

Ciala Resort is a beautiful retreat located about 20minutes from the airport (approx 40minutes from the CBD). The ambience is of calm, rest and relaxation with pristine landscaping vistas and clean, well equipped rooms. The area doesn't offer much to do in terms of activities, shopping etc. (hence it being more a getaway vacation) but there is a pool along with gym, spa, steam and sauna facilities (thought the sauna was not functional during my stay). Bicycle hire is also available.
