There are good gate away hotels with clean lake views. A cosmopolitan area whose main economic activity is dagaa fishing locally known as "omena". Areas of interest to visit are elmolo park and the ⛵ as they go fishing in the evening. Something spectacular is how they trade the omena asnit comes in the morning. Fencing of compounds to the locals is a new concept. Crime rate is low but the issue of land subdivision is becoming an issue between siblings who are the next of kin. Old men and women are rare and the place is active with middle aged and the young. Uhanya has one public primary school and several private schools. In summary it's a village small town adjacent to lake Victoria.
