My favorite place in the entire world! Nothing compares to the Mara Explorer camp. Where luxury meets adventure. Do not look anywhere else when choosing a place to stay for your Mara vacation. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff has become like family, the hospitality that you receive should be the golden standard around the world. Every single person who works at Mara Explorer camp is absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, and most of all some of the most genuine human beings I have ever met. They go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. You will leave feeling like you gained 15 new family members. I cannot recommend staying here enough. If you have the opportunity to choose Mara Explored, run, don't walk to the nearest airport!!! Life-changing!

It is a very peaceful place on the edge of a small stream. Luxury tents with all the necessary amenities serve as bedrooms. All lost under a small forest. Hippos and crocodiles are the closest neighbors. The food is good. The staff is very kind.

Mara Explorer located over a striking river view with lots of hippo activity. The real plus is the cuisine produced under the direction of Chef Josephus. His menu choices and presentations were superb. No buffet stuff here. Staff is very attentive and accommodating.

This is a 5 Star facility. Amazing service, delectable food, daily menu, location on the Talek river is perfect. It’s a glamping tent, cement floors, full bath, waterfall shower, deck/balcony facing the river with coffee/tea and cookies to enjoy the morning. Best experience ever.

WOW! I tried to think about a single thing that wasn’t close to perfection and I couldn’t find any. Collins, Jeffrey, Paulina, Kaka, the Chef and the entire staff are just so nice and gentle and they make sure your experience is incredibly lovely. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something special to celebrate it and that’s when we decided to go on our first African safari experience. We watched a lot of videos on Youtube and finally decided on the Mara Explorer Camp. We tried booking the dates on various travel booking websites, but couldn’t get the dates we wanted, so took a chance to write to Mara Explorer Camp. They were able to accommodate us for the dates we wanted in August and the whole booking experience was seamless. We spent 3 nights/4 days at the Mara Explorer Camp in August’23 and it was a wonderful experience (it’s an adult only camp and limited tents so gets booked quick). Right from our arrival till our last day we were made to feel special and were looked after very well. The team at the camp comprising of Joshua, Mary, Joseph, the Chef and our driver/guide, Simon were all so knowledgeable and caring. They took every effort to make our anniversary day special, right from a surprise sundowner to an anniversary cake to a Masai dance and decorating our tent on our anniversary! All our meals were very delicious during the entire course of our stay – including the bush dinner. The facilities were near flawless – laundry, security, food, preparing our beds & camp, game drives just about everything. I highly recommend this camp if you were planning to go to Masai Mara and yes, don’t forget to ask for Simon as your driver/guide. If we decide to go to Kenya again, we know where to book our stay – it’s a home away from home!!

If you're looking for a perfect safari vacation, look no further than the Mara Explorer. While there are a lot of options out there in the Masai Mara, I can't imagine making a better chose than going with Mara Explorer. This was a perfect, luxurious boutique hotel in the middle of nowhere! From the very beginning, right until the end, everything was an absolutely stellar experience. The rooms were fantastic with such great touches, the food was amazing, and the service on both the game drives and the hotel was impeccable. The views of the river during your meals (often frequented by wildlife) was just a bonus! Working with Terry in the reservations department was a pleasure and she helped provide us all of the information that we needed for our visa. The game drivers with Paul were positively breathtaking. Paul went above and beyond to ensure that we saw an amazing array of animals, experienced great scenery and were educated on the Mara itself. The GM of the hotel, Joseph runs a very tight ship. His staff were nothing short of incredibly friendly and welcoming all with great senses of humour and and eye for service. Special thanks to Lawerence and Sylvester. With so many options, choosing one can be daunting, but choosing Mara for our safari was a top-tier decision.

We were absolutely blown away by the Mara Explorer Camp. It was such an incredible stay and the whole team made our time in the Mara unforgettable! Everyone was so welcoming, kind, knowledgable, and helpful to make sure our trip was excellent. We will be back soon and highly recommend!

My wife and I went on our first safari for our honey moon and we were so lucky to go to Mara Explorer. From the moment we landed until the moment we left we had a magical experience. The service from Lawerence, Pauline and the manager Bonface was impeccable and it felt like family from the first moment. The tents were unbelievable and felt extremely safe even having a family of 30 hippos living 50m away from us. The food from the Cheff was incredible with 5 course meals for lunch and dinner. Our guide Silas was also very welcoming and taught us so much about the Mara. We also had the experience of visiting the local village of the Maasai's that I highly recommend. We also did a walking tour and were guided by Jonathan which was unforgettable as we got to walk alongside giraffes. It was a magical experience.

This is the great place to visit currently in masai mara. The location is great, service is at its level best... Chef (Josephat and Shadrack) will wash away your hunger with their well cooked meals everyday. If you are looking for a small tent, where no kids below age 13 are allowed, then this is your destination...

Been here many times, so let me just say to those considering for the first time...don’t hesitate for a second. If you know it works for your budget and your tempted to find a more “fancy” resort like MM or G’s, you are wasting time and money by not staying at Explorer. Time because no property in the mara beats Explorer and Intrepids in terms of location to sites, animals, landing strip, sunsets, etc. Money, well because time is money.
