To
get
to
Marenga,
on
Kisumu
-
Busia
Road
at
Bumala,
board
a
matatu
to
Port
Victoria,
or
Board
a
matatu
from
Busia,
you
alight
at
Port
Bumala
Shopping
center
and
take
a
motorcycle
or
if
you
are
lucky
enough,
you
get
a
matatu
going
to
the
beach
to
pick
passengers.
The
beach
is
quite
busy
with
activities.
There
are
travelers
to
Sigulu,
Sumba
and
other
islands.
Also,
fishing
activities
are
going
on,
nets
are
being
repaired
and
prepared
ready
for
a
fishing
expedition.
The
fish
mongering
is
also
on
with
local
buyers
and
lorries
to
transport
fish
to
the
big
towns
being
loaded
as
the
locals
are
served.
Here,
Nile
perch
goes
for
Ksh
250
a
kilo
and
tilapia
goes
for
Ksh
350
a
kilo.
Yes,
there
are
weighing
scales
for
that.
Fish
is
in
plenty
hence
the
cooler
boxes
for
storage
as
they
await
buyers
or
to
be
prepared,
packed
and
loaded
onto
the
waiting
lorries.
There
are
also
vibandas
where
one
can
buy
fish
and
ugali
to
eat
while
there.
The
beach
is
well
maintained
and
no
washing
or
bathing
is
allowed
in
the
Lake.
The
locals
are
very
friendly
and
jovial.
And,
there
are
very
big
fish
in
the
area.
Also,
you
can
find
omena
on
the
adjacent
beach
named
Omena.
The
photos
herein
are
of
fishermen
repairing
their
nets
ready
for
use.
